noticed Aaron, raising his gun up. Aaron acted quickly, sprinting towards the guard, barreling towards him. He knocked the guard over, using the string to wrap it around the guy’s neck. It wasn’t long enough to give Aaron much grip, but enough to keep him down.

After a few seconds of struggling, Aaron cracked the guy’s neck, standing up to stare at the corpse. He felt nothing. The guy was just another notch in his kill list.

He continued forward and entered the armory, noticing a man waiting for him. A large man with a great deal of sandy-yellow fur stood in the middle of the large armory, racks of buckets around him. His beard resembled a lion’s mane and his athletic appearance matched that deduction.

“Aaron? I’m Lion. It’s nice to see my twentieth victim.” He proudly stated.

“Cool,” Aaron started, wrapping the string around his fist. “I lost count.”

Lion glared at him. “Well, I kept count.”

“Pretty prideful ain’t ya’?” He mocked him. “Who cares about your kills? Mine’s somewhere in the triple digits.”

Lion let out a short roar, looking at him with large reddened eyes, and charged towards him. Aaron jumped out of the forward charge, but Lion was quick on his feet. He turned his charge to focus on Aaron, smashing into him. The rather strong metahuman had his strength enhanced, the full force throwing Aaron high into the air---nearly hitting the ceiling---before harshly hitting the ground.

“Well… that’s not fun,” Aaron remarked as he spat out blood on the tiled flooring. He jumped to his feet as Lion smashed into him again, this time throwing him against the wall. He felt his ribs break upon impact, spitting out more blood. He was being destroyed.

Fortunately for him, Lion had thrown him into his arsenal. Displayed in plastic bins were his gear, all waiting for him. Aaron grabbed the bin adjacent to him and threw the contents, the gunpowder, at Lion.

Lion slammed into the table, shaking Aaron and his gear. However, it didn’t knock anything down.

Aaron jumped off the table, his adrenaline washing over his pain, grabbing a loose match from another bin and lighting it using his teeth; he ran the match head against the top row of his teeth, lighting the match before throwing it at Lion. It set him ablaze.

“Ahh! What did you do! Ahhh!” He screamed a loud and blood-curdling scream. He fell to the ground, trying to put out the flames. He was fanning them.

Aaron, meanwhile, geared himself up. He threw on his equipment, opening up a new box of gunpowder, sprinkling some on the piece of string he had on himself. The gunpowder stuck closely to the string as Aaron approached Lion, who looked up at him with widened eyes. Lion was still burning to death, his screams overly apparent.

“Since you care about numbers, let me make up one for you.” He cleared his throat. ‘You are my one-thousandth victim.” He mocked Lion.

“No!” Lion screamed, jumping to his feet while still ablaze, and desperately charging towards Aaron. Aaron simply took a step back, watching as Lion crumbled apart, his flesh now charred.

“Proud bastards. Numbers don’t mean anything. Memories do.” Aaron remarked to himself as Lion’s body remained ablaze in front of him. He nonchalantly prepared himself for his next threat. He was injured but stuck inside Asura Industries’ headquarters. He couldn’t escape easily, especially if all attention was on the headquarters. He needed to face the boss of the building, Stephen Orville. The final boss.

Episode Forty Four "The Hunter S1 E7 - Warrior"

Aaron stumbled into the rift room, standing on the balcony, facing Orville. Orville didn’t look the same. He had changed. His body had reddened enough to make him look like an apple, but there were strange patches of blue, particularly on his face. There was also something in his palm illuminated, revealed to be red and blue fire mixing to create purple fire.

“Welcome Aaron,” Orville remarked, looking up at him. “I’ve been waiting for you.”

“I could tell.” Aaron brandished his katana. “Let’s get this over you bastard.” He remarked, jumping off the balcony. He charged forward, one hand on the katana and the other in his pocket. He dug out gunpowder and threw it at Orville. It exploded instantly, hitting the fire in Orville’s palms.

Orville grinned menacingly. “You can’t defeat me, Aaron. I have infused myself with the rift’s otherworldly radiation. I am no longer a mortal, but a GOD!” He exclaimed, stretching his hands out to his sides and pointing his palms upward towards the ceiling. “I am not Stephen Orville, but Crimson Alpha. I will rule this world with a fire fist.” He looked proud at his attempt at a joke.

“The warden said he was God. He’s nothing but a mortal begging to be anything else..” Aaron mocked him. He stopped his charge, hesitating to go any further. He felt the warmth of the fire resting on his face.

Orville’s grin disappeared as his eyebrows sloped. His lips curled down. “You’re the bastard that killed him? You killed my brother?”

It was Aaron’s chance to grin. “With my bare hands.”

Orville’s face scrunched up in anger. His body shook tremendously -  his veins popped out. “You killed my brother.” He glared at Aaron, his body trembling in anger. “You really are a bastard.” He shouted before charging forward, closing the little distance between them. Aaron deflected the first strike with his katana, but Orville’s fire-covered fists had dealt enough damage to chip it.

Aaron jumped back, glancing at his katana’s condition. It had become brittle with only one hit. He looked at Orville, who grinned smugly as he noticed the condition of the katana as well.

“A few more hits and your weapon is gone. Won’t that be fun to fight mano a mano?”

“A few more hits and your teeth will be gone.” Aaron sheathed the katana. He took another step backward, grabbing daggers from his belt and flinging them at Orville. Orville didn’t block, extending his palms towards the daggers. He spewed out a liquid fire that liquified the daggers. He looked at Aaron, his grin on full display.

Aaron moved to his backup plan, grabbing the bundle of string and wrapping a handful around both wrists. He stretched out the string to form a straight line. Orville stared at him with a weird stare before throwing it away, dashing forward. He threw a wild swing that Aaron dodged, moving right out of his fist. He wrapped the straight line of string around Orville’s arm and pulled on it. The string attached to his fists went with him, dragging Orville’s arm along for the journey.

“Release me!” Orville barked. He raised the other hand. “Release me you filthy animal.”

They were stopped by the loud stomping sounds of a monster. Project FLT was on its way. Orville grinned as he made his fire travel down his arm to counterattack the sting, burning them with ease. Aaron and Orville jumped a few steps back, both watching the main entrance. Project FLT emerged, furious with Aaron's escape attempt. The monster was now being driven by anger. Reasoning was no longer an option.

Aaron glanced at Orville who looked content with the current situation. In the end, Aaron dies and Orville survives, or so Orville thought. Aaron decided to attack quickly. He darted towards Project FLT, skidding to a stop in front of the monster, baiting it.

“You monster, come and get-” The monster reacted quicker than Aaron expected. It lunged forward, nicking him. He dashed out of the way, turning to watch Project FLT stumble and nearly trip on its collection of feet.

With the monster out of the way, Aaron sprinted through the hallways towards the balcony. Project FLT was quickly on his path, chasing after him with great ferocity. The monster slammed into the white walls and scratched at them while nipping at Aaron’s heels.

Aaron reached the balcony, facing Project FLT. Project FLT was right behind him, charging at him with its arms outstretched. It looked like a zombie.

Aaron gripped the string tightly in the rather small balcony. He waited for the monster to get closer before he jumped onto the balcony’s rails, dodging the charge. He spun on his heels and jumped off the rails behind Project FLT as it slammed into the railing, which was slightly dented, before jumping on top of the monster. He wrapped the string around the neck, or what Aaron guessed was the neck, securing it by quickly tying it. It now formed a noose.

“It’s time to purge the souls you’ve been holding onto,” Aaron remarked as the monster tried to swing at him. However, Aaron was faster, stabbing the last dagger he had into it. He ripped the dagger out before plunging back in its head.

Now with a noose around the monster’s head, and the only end of the string in his hand, he jumped off the balcony. He quickly accelerated down but stopped short. He felt the monster tugging at him, letting out more loud screeches, these being out of pain. However, Aaron didn’t relent.

With his feet still dangling, he waited awkwardly as the screams became distorted. Slowly but surely, Aaron was reaching the ground.

Meanwhile, Project FLT’s weight, paired with the damage from the dagger, prevented it from escaping the noose. It was being hanged by Aaron. It tried to claw at the string, but the string wasn’t tearing off. It stuck to him like Aaron used superglue.

A few moments later, a loud popping sound was heard from the balcony. Aaron glanced at Orville and noticed him with a shocked expression. Aaron smiled as if he was watching his eldest child going to college. He then felt the string go limp.

Aaron hit the floor, releasing the string. Bits of blood and guts fell from the balcony onto Aaron, basking him in it.

“It’s your turn,” Aaron said with a glare.

***

A man dressed in a thin faded blue cloak approached the building. The remnants of Ty’s plane littered the ground and a blood puddle formed under one of the heavier pieces of debris.

“What a quick disciple,” He muttered to himself as he neared the building. He turned his head and saw Ty ridding himself of his parachute, hiding inside a piece of debris, but quickly confronted by two metahumans. They surrounded him, both shouting at Ty.

The man stomped towards the metahumans. They raised their heads noticing the man. “Sir, please leave,” Moth said.

“He said to kill anybody we see,” Owl told Moth. “Let’s kill him, let him blame his bad luck.”

“Yeah-” The man brandished dual katanas, sprinting towards them. Moth and Owl faced him, both pulling out their weapons of choice; an ax and fists.

“Flank him, I’ll-” Owl started. The man had approached faster than they expected, automatically clashing at the first glint of the katanas. Owl raised his hands, blocking the initial strike. It dealt no damage other than rifling his feathers. “He’s weak, you should be able to-” Moth started, but the man stopped him. The man grabbed Owl’s neck with one hand, pushing it downward.

“Weak? Never that.” He muttered before slicing Owl’s head cleanly off. He backed away to allow the corpse to fall to the ground naturally. He then turned to face Moth, pointing his katanas at him.  “Want a try?”

Moth glared at him, charging forward. He
