he was above his adversary. With a spin of force, Jason sent a down kick right at Sollamance, dealing more damage and causing him to hurtle straight into the dirt. As Sollamance fell, Jason felt as though the power was trying to show him something. He could feel the smoky power inside him, but he also felt something else. He felt something that was more than mere smoke. He could feel a Quix blade.
Jason conjured up the smoke and manifested the blade. He gripped the handle tight with both hands and dove down for Sollamance. His Quixon teacher was still falling, unable to do anything about the attacks Jason had delivered. It was all going to be in a single moment. When Sollamance collided with the earthy ground, Jason drove the sword straight into the fiend’s chest. Blood splashed up from underneath Sollamance’s cloak. Jason’s Quix blade had cut through his pale body and back into the ground below. Sollamance’s eyes widened and he gasped out for air. Jason twisted the sword to the side, adding to the Quixon’s pain. He wanted him to suffer for daring to even mention Sarah’s name. Jason could see his reflection in his dying enemy’s eyes. His eyes were just like those that haunted him in his dreams. He was now one of them. He was an animal. He was a monster. He was a Quixon.
Sollamance’s sword transformed into smoke and dissolved into nothing. Blood began to leak out of his mouth. Jason could hear Sollamance’s heart coming to a stop. He was trying to say something, but was choking on the blood. Jason removed the sword and stared into his Quixon teacher’s eyes for the last time.
“N-now…you’re ready…” Sollamance breathed. With those simple words, the Quixon faded from the world for good. His red eyes closed and his heart stopped. The only Quixon Jason had ever met, was now dead. Through all of his anger, Jason given Sollamance’s the death he had longed for. He could now feel only his heartbeat. It was slowing down and balancing. He could feel himself returning to normal again. The sword returned to smoke and retracted back into his hand. His blood seemed to cool and he was calming. He could almost feel it as his eyes changed back from the evil red. He was back to the Aspen he’d always been.
Although Jason had killed him in anger, Sollamance had given Jason his wish as well. He now had the power to defeat Jackson. He could finally take a stand against the murderous man and protect the world from whatever treacheries he’d been planning. Jackson was going to know the pain that Jason felt when he lost his uncle. He would know that he could not threaten a peaceful world without resistance. He would see the animal that Jason had become. It was time for vengeance.
Vengeance
The day was progressing slower than Jason had expected. He opened his eyes, unable to wait for mid afternoon to come. He had been waiting in his chair since the early morning. He had too much energy and rage pumping through his veins to sleep any longer. His mind flashed back to the previous night. Sollamance had said he was ready and Jason knew his final words couldn’t be any truer. The time had come. He was ready. The power he held inside would finally bring down Jackson. He would be able to use this darkness as though it were a gift. It was time for action. It was time for battle. It was time for revenge.
His eyes looked to the clock on the wall. It was still another two hours before Jackson would be out in the open. To Jason, that felt like a lifetime. He was tired of waiting. He needed to go now. He knew that the plan may work better in the long run, but right now he didn’t care. All he wanted was Jackson to die. Jason stood up and made his way to the door. Today he only wore his typical tennis shoes, jeans, and his Aspen torso. He wanted to have complete mobility and comfort. He stopped short of the door and looked in the bathroom mirror. He could see his eyes were dark red and black like Sollamance’s. His skin had gotten pale and his hair was nearly pitch black. His own reflection was intimidating to him. He ran his hand through his hair. He didn’t like this look. It was as though he was evil. If things went the way he wanted them to, this would be the only time he’d ever have to use the power.
He stood on the cliff, looking out at the city. He could see the Anderson Building from here. It was one of the taller buildings in the city. It was in the eastern section, where a lot of small businesses thrived. Every year, the building helped develop something new to better the city. He’d never been in it, but a few of his chemistry teachers had talked about it. He had no clue where Jackson would be on the inside, but he didn’t think it’d be too hard to find him. This was the moment. Jackson was somewhere inside; unaware that Jason was even coming for him. He would be caught off guard, making him vulnerable to Jason’s ruthless attack.
Jason lifted into the air and took off for the building. He could feel many heat signatures inside, but he had no way of knowing which one was Jackson. His only option was to enter through the main entrance and learn more once he was inside. He thought about calling his friends to see if anymore information had come in on Jackson from the company, but he’d left his phone back at his house. He’d already come too far to go back now. He was going to have to do this the old fashioned way.
He entered the building through the big revolving glass door. Inside, he found a white room with a reception desk. The young receptionist sat typing away at her computer. She twirled her fingers in her blonde hair, while staring blankly at the screen. He approached the desk, returning his eyes to normal, and waited for her to notice him. Almost immediately, she perked up and put on a huge smile. She had obviously been trained to be cheery to every person that walked through that door.
“Good afternoon, sir” the receptionist welcomed, “how may I help you?”
“Hi there, I’m looking for a man named Jackson. I’m his…friend.” Jason lied.
“Oh, he’s on the ninth floor. There is an elevator right over there that’ll take you right up,” said the receptionist pointing to the right wall where, sure enough, were two elevator doors.
“Thank you,” said Jason, starting for the elevator.
“Should I tell him you’re on the way up?” the young girl asked.
“No, no,” Jason declined, “I want to surprise him,”
“Oh, well alright then,” the girl smiled, “have a great visit,”
Jason turned for the elevator grinning. This wasn’t exactly a secure location. He was merely two button clicks away from being at Jackson, and all it took was a few lies. In reality though, the employees that worked here weren’t exactly in danger here. They could have never imagined that two non-human beings were going to start a fight inside. After all, why would anyone want to hurt these people? Most of them devoted there time to helping others with new medicines or sciences. Jason made a point of trying not to harm anyone during his visit. Well, except for Jackson, of course.
Jason pressed the up button on the wall and the silver doors slid open. He stepped inside and selected the ninth floor. On the wall, there was a computerized newspaper. It scrolled up slowly, showing a summary of the main story of the day. Jason decided to read the article once he saw the title.
Savior
After the save of President MacMillan last week, the unidentified hero made another save in the city three days ago. A construction accident left a man dangling from a high riser crane. When it looked like time was up for the man, the Savior flew in and grabbed him before a gruesome fall. The man suffered no injuries and was brought down safely. The Savior is definitely becoming a celebrity, but who is he? Or what is he? All we can do is wonder and be thankful for everything that he has done since he arrived in our city. Well done, Savior.
Jason remembered this save quite well. The man had nearly wet himself in fear, but thanks to him, he was able to go home to his family that night. The news was buzzing full of stories about him. He was the unknown hero that everyone knew and loved. He just hoped that they didn’t completely depend on him. He is only there to provide security, not entire lifestyles. The elevator dinged and the doors slid open. It revealed a long hallway with offices on both sides. On the doors, there were names of each of the employees. He walked through the hall searching for Jackson’s office. Jason really had pictured him as the desk job kind of guy. Just when it seemed like he wasn’t going to find him, he saw an open door at the end of the hallway. Inside, writing at his desk was none other than his hated enemy. Jason could feel himself tense up. His heart began beating faster. It was time to confront Jackson for the last time.
Jason walked into the room, without disturbing Jackson. He hadn’t noticed him yet. His Quixon powers must have prevented him from giving off a heat signature. He just sat there behind his desk wearing a dark grey pullover with a collar. He had a slight amount of hair on his face, giving him a professional look. Jason stepped forward, waiting for Jackson to look up and see what had just walked into his office.
“Can I help you?” Jackson said, without looking up. He obviously wasn’t paying much attention; otherwise he would have been able to see that he didn’t have a signature.
“I…have been waiting for this…for a very long time.” Jason stated.
Jackson looked up in shock and went to react. Jason didn’t give him a chance to do much. When he stood up, he released the darkness from his hand, knocking Jackson back through the wall behind him. Debris flew everywhere and Jason could hear people behind him scream. Jackson landed on the floor in between two pieces of a broken desk. The man in the room they had just broken into panicked and ran out of his office. Jackson was down but not for long. He leapt to his feet and looked up at Jason. He looked horrified. He must have really not expected Jason to seek revenge for his uncle’s death. Jason leapt for Jackson, fist clenched and threw a punch. Jackson countered with his own punch and the two slammed fists. Jason, not ready to back down, swung his leg around in a complete spin and kicked his enemy in the side of the face. Jackson slammed into the nearby cabinet, giving Jason another chance to attack first. Jason sent a volley of punches into Jackson’s rib cage, causing him to cry out in pain. Jason was going to make him suffer.
He grabbed Jackson by the neck and threw him up and through the ceiling. Jackson went sailing through the ceilings of the next few floors and finally caught himself on the thirteenth floor. Jason jumped up, but Jackson was ready this time. As Jason grew closer, Jackson threw an attack he knew all too well. His uncle had used this tactic in their last training session. A spherical orb of
