suspense anymore and asked her at once. “May be Religion, customs and traditions and besides economical status” She replied quite politely.

“You both are well educated then why have you cared for the worldly things?” “Don’t forget that we are in India, a nation known for its ancient culture and civilization, customs and traditions. And it is not that easy to deviate them for our selfish ends” Miss. Hasina revealed the reasons for their failure in love with certain pain.

“Now Mrs. Bharathidevi voluntarily applied for divorce; and the petitions are pending with you; and why can’t you pass orders accordingly and marry Mr. Gentleman? Sorry I am rather taking little liberty and put it to you at least why don’t you think in that way? Or am I wrong in guiding you, rather suggesting you madam?” She said confidently but feared to hear her verdict, as she had taken more liberty in interfering in her forth coming judgement.

“I am sorry to say no; and your suggestion is absolutely wrong; Mrs. Bharathidevi has applied for divorce suspecting not only our acquaintance but also she even thought bad of our relationship as unholy and illegal ” said Hasina.

“Please tell me whether you love him or not Madam?”

“Sorry, you have been taking undue advantage of our acquaintance"

"Sorry madam it not to hurt you, but"

"No baby I can understand your  mind. If not you suspect our relation why are you posing number of questions to me? Do you want me to marry him at this age Miss. Jasmine?” Hasina was annoyed and said.

“What is wrong in it madam? If I am not wrong you both are around fifty plus only”

“Good jock, not only public, but also his wife, children and grand children will laugh at us; and all her suspicision all through these years about our acquaintance and friendship will be proved to be extramarital relationship; and the most, principled and God fearing Mr. Gentleman will not bear that humiliation dear”

“Then you better drop down aunty I will marry him”

“What? Are you mad? Why are you talking about ifs and buts and most impractical things? What is your age and his age? Do you know that his daughter is older than you?”

“When once his wife applied for divorce; and his daughter and sons filed minor suits on behalf of his grand children, means they all have unilaterally declared war against him; and they wanted to neck him out from their home; and I think he has already anticipated it and that is why he has been staying in his office. And I doubt even the minor girl’s episode is also suspected to be planted by either by some of his family members; or at least with the connivance of his professional enemies only”

“Are you suspecting the bonafides of the members of his family Dr. Jasmine?”

“Yes aunty, I have seen their emotions and certainly not their feelings against him practically. They neither respect him nor fear him. But, I have seen in them much hatred against him instead of affection towards him. It is not my intention to prove their ill minds, but I only curse the fate for punishing a nobleman by awarding him with such a selfish family ” She felt so much for him.

“But now he has to face more serious acquisition, do you know that dear?” Hasina remind her as he was in soup.

“What is it? I couldn’t understand, please tell me in detail  aunty”

“I sorry to say that his involved in a much more heinous crime is made out by the investigative agency dear”

“But I am confident that the girl will tell the truth when once she gets conscious aunty”

“Sorry Jasmine it is all over, perhaps you are not aware of the recent developments. The girl regained consciousness and the chief Metropolitan Magistrate recorded her dying declaration”

“What did the girl say aunty?” She asked her anxiously.

“As she lost her voice, she wrote on a piece of paper as ‘S’ only and then she succumbed to multiple fractures and more so for the fatal injury to her spinal card. Now ‘S’ stands for your sir, or sons or son in law of Mr. Gentleman or somebody whose name starts with first letter ‘S’. But initially police are suspecting your Chairman and MD, Mr. Gentleman, because he used to stay in the office during nights also and his chamber has an attached bed room. And his own staff also has given corroborative statements against him. I don’t know how could he come out clean from the heinous crime?”

“Oh my God, then what shall we do for him at this stage aunty?” Dr. Jasmine expressed her sympathy towards him.

“Let us wait and see what shall be the reaction of the mother of the deceased? What is the investigation  of the cops? What material the cops gather to fix him? What would be the allegtion and charges framed against him?” She put forth number of questions instead  of  clarifying her doubts.

Hasina also expressed her doubt as how he could come out clean from the case?

In the meanwhile Dr. Jasmine received a call from the personal driver of the MD.

“What’s the matter Jasmine?” Hasina asked her.

“The cops have taken the MD into their custody for interrogation. What shall we do now aunty?” Dr. Jasmine was feeling a lot.

“As the case is under investigation, and it is a serious offence, we have to wait till the police either to rule out the allegation against him or make out a perfect case against him”

“It is quite unfortunate. Do you believe his involvement in the crime aunty? But I truly certify that he hasn’t even seen the girl in his office. He only knows the mother of the girl, as she has been working in the office as servant maid. I have only sent out the girl, when she has come to office in the absence of her mother from attending her duties, ever since I have joined as PS to him”

“Okay Jasmine it is already late in the night you can stay back in my bungalow and go to your hostel in the morning” She advised her, rather cautioned her.

“Thank you aunty and my hostel is quite nearby and I can just walk down. Good night and I am sorry I disturbed you late in the night aunty”

“Never mind Jasmine. Normally I never sleep before 0100hrs, as I used to read novels or scribe new stories. Okay goodbye and good night dear” Dr. Jasmine left her Bungalow.

Chapter: 22

The Chairman and the Managing Director of the GM. Group of Companies transferred all his shares in the name of his Personal Secretary Dr. Jasmine. He also resigned and nominated Mr. Ram as his successor as Chairman and Managing director of the GM. Group of Companies due to personal reasons, even before he was taken into custody by the cops.

“Nonsense, he neither has feelings nor attachments. He never has commonsense at least; and so also curtsey to nominate your mother to succeed him. He has no love and affection towards you, being his only daughter, and leaves apart myself as he has already ignored me as his son in law. He has even gone to the extent of making me a fool; and he even not hesitated to belittle me in the presence of my subordinates” Mr. Rahul expressed his hatred against his father in law.

Further his anger knew no bounds. On knowing the transfer of power to a paralytic patient Mr. Ram; and all the properties which were in the name of Mr. Gentleman, which were transferred to an employee Dr. Jasmine, Mr. Rahul grew wild. On knowing the developments, Colours changed in the eyes of Mrs. BharathiDevi, her daughter Mrs. Sobha and her youngest son Mr. Laxman. They all assembled in the reading room.

Mr. Ram was not there as he went to the Gentleman Towers to hold an urgent press meet. As per his father’s wish he wanted to head and lead the GM. Group of Companies on the same principles and morals followed by his father in true spirit.

******************

Ever since he had taken over the reins of the GM. Group of Companies, Mr. Ram’s first priority was to hold his company’s shares intact in the share market. He immediately announced an increase in the dividend by another 5%, with which the total increase of dividend now rose up to 55%, which was really abnormal and impractical also only to see that the value of his company’s shares would never go down in the share market. And if it was truly calculated, there might not be profits gained for the company.

But there was no other way to hold both the share value of the company in the stock market and also to keep up the reputation and trade mark of the GM. Group of Companies, and also the name and fame, the glorious past history of the family and their dynasty.

All the four share holders had been feeling a lot as they were not summoned anytime for the board meeting or for the press meet by Mr. Gentleman. Mr. Ram also followed the same steps of the chairman, for which they bore grudge against him. In fact they all had formed a very poor opinion against Mr. Ram.

Chapter: 23

“I am sorry to tell you, rather warn you Miss. Jasmine. Please don’t venture to come to me hereafter as you are PS to the under trial prisoner, who committed a most heinous crime; and cops also suspecting your bonafides also as you happened to be PS to the accused; they may even take you to their custody for interrogation” Hasina warned her seriously, when the latter came to her bungalow without prior intimation.

“Madam are you suspecting him? Or are you still doubtful about his bona-fides? And do you think that he is that cheap to sleep with a poor, innocent and a minor girl, who is even younger than his daughter?” She was unable to hold her feelings anymore and broke out openly.

“I am sorry Miss Jasmine; there is both material and circumstantial evidence, besides medical evidence too. And one more important thing is that, during the interrogation by the cops, Mr. Gentleman voluntarily confessed his guilt of trapping the minor girl. On knowing that the girl conceived, and when the girl demanded him to marry her, he pushed her out from the window of his chambers”

“Please stop it Madam. I couldn’t bear anymore accusations against a perfect gentleman. It is quite unfortunate to hear an unbelievable fact. It is a concocted story created and planted by the investigating agency. I whole heartedly condemn that it is a great injustice done to a noble man Madam”

“But, you are neither the investigating officer nor the Judge to decide and rule out the heinous crimes committed by him Jasmine. And I caution you in your own interest that if you still try to support him means you will definitely land in troubles. You will be cornered not only by police, but also by the media and public. I sincerely advise you not to be over smart especially in this case” “Please don’t come to an adverse opinion about the antecedents; and under estimate the conduct and character of your childhood mate Mr. Gentleman Madam. And you please don’t expect me that I either fear the police, or the media and the public; or out of fear I withdraw my support to Mr. Gentleman” Dr. Jasmine still supported him firmly.

Hasina could find tears rolling in her eyes. Her association with Mr. Gentleman was hardly for about two months. Even during that short period also she could be able to study him and understand his principles and discipline.

But, it was quite unfortunate that Miss. Hasina being his childhood mate, and a true love of the Chairman and the MD of the GM. Group of Companies misunderstood him means, it was really his bad luck. It was also true at this stage that nobody believed him.

“I am sorry to say good bye to you once
