Chapter 02

It's already half past ten when she finally finished teaching and baby sitting the Johnson twins. She was paid one hundred fifty dollars per hour, nine hundred dollars everyday. Enough for their needs and besides Grandma Clare Chandler has been taking care of her since she was six months pregnant.

She was wise, elegant, and surprisingly taken her without hesitation, but when she turned eighteen a year ago she decided to move but her Grandma won't let her then gave up as long her Grandma finds a house for her and her daughters and her job should only be for extra income.

The Johnson twins reminded her of her two daughter. If she was still in the Manor and didn't left would life be like this for her two daughter?

"Good night Mrs. Johnson."

"Oh, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Kate?" Kate shook her head and smile.

"About a hundred more." She chuckled.

She laugh. "Well good night to you, too. Next time bring those two little angel of yours here so you don't have to worry every minute." She gave her a warm smile.

"Sure. I'll think about it." She waved her hand and got in the car.

Eleven o'clock on the dot she pulled over her Grandma's mansion. She was greeted by her grandma wearing a red robe.

"Oh my- Scarlette. I missed you!" Her Grandma Claire kissed her cheek and hugged her tight.

"Grandma . . . Can't . . . Breath!" She choked out.

She reluctantly pulled away from her and sigh. "I just wanted to hug you. is that hard to give to a dying woman like me?" She cried wiping the non-existent tear.

"Whoa! Grandma, who told you you're dying?" She asked trying not to laugh. Her grandma is such a drama queen.

"No one. I just assume I was. Old people die too, you know?" She said a matter of fact.

"But your not old! You're like, Fifty nine-"

She cut her off. "Fifty eight." She sniffed.

"Fifty eight or something. That's hardly old at all!" She exclaimed.

"I knew you would say that to make me feel better that's why I have a surprise for you."

She groaned. Not again! Her grandma is always trying to find a way to give her things that she knows she can't refuse.

"What is this Grandma?" She asked holding a key in front of her.

"You are a Chandler. You're not suppose to be dumb." She muttered. "It's a key."

"I know it's a key. I mean, what for?"

"To open your head so we can find your brain."

She rolled her eyes. "Ha-ha. You're so funny Grandma and very sarcastic too." She feigned sweetness.

"Why thank you."

"That's not a compliment."

"Whatever. Go outside and play."

She rolled her eyes again. Once she stepped outside she saw a Volkswagen Hybrid.

"Grandma!" She groaned.

"Nu-uh! It's either you take or I'll take your car."

"Fine," she grumbled.

"It's already eleven thirty I think I should get the kids."

"They're already sleeping. Why don't you stay here for the night." She suggested.

She shrugged. "Sure." She kissed her grandma goodbye and headed towards the guestroom near the twins.
