I just walked away.
"Nothing just going shopping for the house."
"You like Newport so far?"
"Yeah it’s really nice everyone is friendly except Christian and his goons."
I chuckled, “They can really mess up someone's point of view of this place."
My phone vibrated and it was Tajenna texting me.
Get away from the store sum10 bad is gonna happen!
Okay?
I snap my phone shut and look up smiling timidly.
"I gottta go family emergency. I'll catch you later though." I smile.
"Nice talking to you Ciara."
The weird thing about the conversation was that I felt a draw towards him. Not just this guy seemed interesting draw. It was like a you need to be close to this guy. You need to stay and be with this guy.
I walk up to the checkout counter and as soon as I walk out I call Tajenna.
"Okay what was that about?"
"Was Jamain at the store?"
"Yes I sensed that."
"Is that why you called me?"
"Yes and because something is gonna happen in there."
"Shouldn't we get people out of there?"
"See the problem is I don't know what it is and it’s not certain."
"Alright I'm on my way home."
"I'm driving over there now."
I hang up. How in the world could she sense that far? I go a little over the speed limit to get home. I took the groceries and headed inside waiting for Tajenna. I sat on the edge of my seat. I was alone in my house because my family left down to Pomona early for Thanksgiving and thankfully my five sisters were gone I loved them but sometimes I actually need peace. I literally counted the minutes until Tajenna got here. When she arrived and walked up to the door I opened it up before she could knock.
"Well aren't you so happy to see me?" she asked sarcastically.
"Shut up. You got me freaked out."
"Sorry but I can't have the possibility of my best friend be killed."
I smile I always thought Tajenna was the best ever. She stuck up for me every since preschool. Tajenna, Alecia, and Rashari were there for me just about forever. Well we did a little bit of slumber party type stuff but then we knew we would have to face the scary.
"So did you ever figure out why in the world you cried blood?" I ask as nonchalantly as possible which was pretty hard to do.
"Yes I could be bleeding internally or I may not be human." she said matter of- fact tone.
"Whoa there maybe it was a once in a lifetime thing never to happen again."
"Yeah I highly doubt that."
"Me too."
I sigh, “I know I just hoped that would be the answer."
"I look online and I hear this stuff has happened to rare and talented people,” She smiles as she says this feeling special," the bleeding from the eyes is the first step then those senses, then visions, then this is the cool part I am able to control anything I want!"
"Are you certain this is it?"
"Yeah of course! I mean I'm on the verge of stage three of this process."
"And what exactly does this process turn you into."
"I don't know. I don't think it means I'm a witch. It has to be something more powerful."
"Okay now I have a supernatural friend."
"Yup aren't you just so happy. You’re best friend can help you pass all your math tests."
"Now what about Jamain?"
"I haven't solved that one yet but I’m getting there. We got the fact that he is part of darkness."
"He's not human," I stumbled out
"What? How do you know?"
"Christian's crew was getting ready to jump him. In the next two seconds they were all sprawled out on the sidewalk. Then he looked around, looked like he was gonna run, and then boom vanished. And it wasn't my eyes tricking me." I added.
"Uh oh."
"What’s the matter?"
She doesn't answer for a few minutes and then blood starts running down her cheeks.
"Tajenna!" I bark out but she doesn't do anything.
I go and shake her shoulders but she just falls over. Her eyes and cheeks red. Her whole eye was red I couldn't see an iris. I scream and think about calling the paramedics but then again that wouldn't be the best idea. I just sit on the floor with her in my arms rocking back and forth as I keep telling her to get up.
She comes back in a huge jerk and blood streams from her eyes.
"Their all dead their all dead..." she chanted.
"Who's dead?!"
"The people at the store," she sobbed.
"It’s okay I'm here."
"Thank God for that."
We sat there for what seemed like forever.
"Who did it?"
"I don't know all I see was a back retreating and he walked with such swagger. It was like I killed a store full of people and got away with it I'm so bomb."
"Can you go back and check the tapes maybe?"
"I'll try."
She slips back into that unresponsive state and I wait seventeen seconds.
"The tapes and cameras are gone."
"No sign everyone has a lot of blood loss though except for one he just had his throat missing. Oh God what’s happening," she sobbed.
I comfort her thinking about all the people in there.
"Wait. Was Jamain there?"
"No. I checked for him he must have left right before the killings."
"Or he could've caused it," I say coldly.
"I don't think so."
"Think about it you said he was full of darkness. Talk about irony he's at the store and a slaughter house happens."
"I guess I don't know."
"Wait can you get into the files of the computer and get rid of my stuff?"
"I can try."
She leaves once again but returns in about a minute.
"It’s gone."
"What my information and everything of being there?"
"It totally disappeared."
"Someone's trying to not get me involved in this. It has to be Jamain."
"I think it could be."
"We need to figure out what he is."
"I feel scared if we go any deeper into this."
"But we can't let other people die."
"It may not have even been him."
"I have a feeling it was."
"Let’s watch a movie and forget we can talk about this on Monday."
"Whatever."
We watch a movie after we clean up and shower.
The vacation wasn't the as I expected it to be. We saw the store on the news. The police had no leads on the killer even though I'm pretty sure I know who it is. Thanksgiving Day was devastating. I didn't nearly eat as much as I usually did neither did Tajenna but she put on a better front than me. I could tell my friends Alecia and Rashari knew something was wrong and asked if they could stay with us the rest of the vacation before my parents finally decided to drive back home. The day after Thanksgiving they arrived. I didn't even feel like going to Black Friday so they knew something was definitely wrong.
Later that night I had the most terrifying dream ever. I was back at the store except I didn't get out in time. I heard screaming on the other side of the store and ditched everything except my purse and made a run for the door. I was almost there when I see a hand which had backhanded me into a wall. I still tried to get up and run away but the killer yanked me up by my hair. I scream in agony but cut off when the killer grabs me by my throat. I start to lose consciousness but then he suddenly releases me. I cower into the cracked wall.
"Please don't hurt me," I whisper.
I look up and see its Jamain that had been doing this.
"Jamain? I ask in shock.
"The one and only," he says proudly.
"Please let me go I won't tell anyone you did this."
"It’s too late for that isn't it baby?"
"Please," I plead.
"I'm sorry it was a nice relationship though. Pretty serious one too."
"What...are you talking....'bout?"
"Don't act like it wasn't a good relationship. Oh well I'm pretty thirsty so yeah."
He grabs me once more and digs his teeth into my neck. I scream in agony but only for a few seconds as I feel my consciousness slip. I knew I was dead when the dream went black. Then it was like I was watching what was happening in a movie theater and I was a star in it.
Jamain looks at my body and slams it on the floor, kicks it, snickers at it, sets me on fire, and then laugh as he walks away.
I jolt awake and I hear sobs erupting from my chest.
"Ciara what’s wrong?" Alecia asks.
"I-I..." try to say and start crying again.
"Tajenna," I hear Rashari yell.
I look over to see Tajenna shaking and jerking like she's having a seizure. I run over to her crying as I do and try to wake her up. She doesn't respond after fifteen seconds and then she jolts up also blood streaming down her eyes.
"Ciara!" Tajenna screams.
"I'm right here," I say as calmly as possible.
"He killed you I saw it and when he did I felt you watching what he did after I'm so sorry I tried to stop him but he was to strong."
"It's okay it’s not your fault," I say trying to soothe her.
"Vampire he's a vampire," she says in a shaky voice.
"I know," I tell her.
"Would you care to tell me what the hell is going on," Rashari says. I look at Rashari and then at Tajenna.
"You can trust them," Tajenna whispers," I can sense that."
So I tell them to sit down and then I tell them about everything. From when Tajenna start to cry blood until the dream. They sat with shock on their face and I saw them shudder every now and then but they remained speechless until the end.
"I knew there was something strange about the new kid." Alecia says after a moment of silence.
"Same here," Rashari says.
"Are you sure you're right about these guys?" Alecia asks.
"I'm pretty sure."
"Okay then I believes you," Alecia says.
"Me too," Rashari chimes in.
After an hour or so everyone falls asleep except for me. I can't. The set on fire part I could handle. When he kicked my body and laughed that when I snapped. It hurt me deeply and pissed me off all at the same time. Saturday and Sunday went by fine. My parents came home after Tajenna left and I cleaned up.
Sunday night came and I was so tired I didn't even care about any dreams. This time I dreamt I was holding hands with someone and we were walking on a beach. I look up to see who it is and I snatch my hand away super fast.
"What’s the matter?" Jamain asked shocked.
"Why are you here?" I demand.
"You asked me to come to the beach that’s why."
"But you're a vamp..."
"Yeah we
