I watched as he sat down next to me, he rested a hand on my leg and he sighed, "Are you feeling better?"
The air around us grew thick with anticipation, my own nerves on edge as I watched August's hand slide further up my leg. It came to a stop in my upper thigh and I nodded, "Yes, much better."
He leaned in and kissed my bare shoulder, "I'm glad."
I gripped the hand he had on my thigh and I smiled through my nerves, "I'm so glad to be here with you."
He's spare hand came up and caressed my cheek, his lips parted and he pulled me to him. Our lips connected in a soft embrace.
His lips were soft and warm and I missed them so much. I wrapped my arm around his shoulder to draw him closer, his cedar and jasmine scent was in my nose and I let him pull back, his eyes swirled with blues and greens as he looked at me. My heart was hammering in my chest so hard that I was sure it would explode out.
He smiled at me as he slowly pushed me back onto the bed. His body was so warm, cocooning around me and his strong hands rummaged to remove any of my clothes while his lips devoured mine.
My heart was pounding in my chest as he reached to remove the barrier between him and me. August didn't bother removing my nightgown, he bunched it up around my waist and undid his pants.
We were moving too fast.
I tried to slow him by grabbing his hands but he pulled away, removing the rest of his pants and reaching back down to kiss me.
Too fast.
He hands clung to my hips, keeping me from moving as he nudged his way in and I winced from the sharp pain. He groaned above me and kissed me again, "I waited so long for this."
Too fast.
He didn't notice my discomfort or my pain. He went faster and faster, he abandoned trying to kiss me and pulled back to thrust harder.
Too fast. Too fast. Too fast.
This was not what I wanted. I didn't want this.
The pain started to subside as he continued. Groaning above me, he ripped my nightgown off my shoulder and growled, "Are you ready?"
A frown deep on my face, "What fo..."
He sunk his teeth into the skin between my shoulder and neck. I bit my lip to stop myself from screaming out in pain, the blood coated my throat and the metallic taste almost made me sick. I felt the thick liquid run down my back, pooling in my nightgown and there was no pleasure that came after that.
I stared at myself in the mirror for a while after. Is it always like that?
I shuddered as I angled my neck to see the teeth mark staring back at me. The skin around the puncture wounds were an angry red, blood still seeping out and I placed a thick pad of toilet paper over it and I started cleaning up the rest of the blood that stained my skin. I took a shuddering breath once it was all gone before heading back to my room.
August was snoring when I returned and I couldn't shake the massive feeling of relief that entered my body.

THE SMELL OF BURNING FLESH aggressively pulled me from sleep.
I was choking on it. The smell so harsh in my nose that I jerked into a sitting position as the moonlight bled into the room softly and the surrounding darkness mocked me.
My hands were coated with invisible thick blood, my fingers refused to extend and curled down as if they were cramped. I was gasping loudly, staring down at them and watching the blood drip down onto my sheets.
This isn't real. This isn't real. This isn't real.
August had stopped snoring, mumbling, "Go back to sleep, pup," before turning away and the snoring resumed.
My tongue felt like a rock in my mouth, I couldn't speak and my brain refused to process any type of word. How would I explain this? I couldn't tell him what I did. I wouldn't tell him.
The smell was became so overbearing and I felt the contents of my stomach threaten to climb up my throat. My body responded instantly as I jumped out of bed, running to reach the toilet in time and tears dripped off the edge of my face as I vomited inside the green floral bathtub.
I flinched as I caught my own eyes in the mirror, red-rimmed and knowing. My tears fell more aggressively as I took in the own judgement. I deserved this. How could I live on with this weight on my back?
Peeling my eyes away from myself and I cleaned up my mess the best I could before I went back to my room. August was still snoring and hadn't noticed my absence. I curled myself into a self-destructive ball and prayed to the torturous moon that the nightmares didn't return.
August had kissed my cheek that following morning before telling me he had pack stuff to deal with and he'd see me later in the afternoon. I could barely move to watch him leave, the pain in my shoulder was burning me alive and I didn't dare tell him.
My sleep came in rough sections, only staying asleep for a couple of hours before I woke to a pool of my own sweat, my skin was feverishly scorching, slick with moisture and I couldn't bring the temperature down because it wasn't my flames that were doing it. The skin on my neck was pulsating my body with heat.
I flinched as a knock sounded on the door, "Eden?"
It was Miles.
Pain held my tongue and I couldn't respond.
"Sorry if you're asleep but I don't really know anyone else here but you and Urith," her voice sounded unsure and small, "and he's busy with Quinn."
I wanted to call her in but I could only focus breathing through searing heat that held me against the bed.
"Sawyer is strange and Bain is —" she paused and opened the door, popping her curly head through the small slit, "Can I just come in and sit with you?"
I watched her eyes widened at my state, she gasped and rushed in. Stopped only to shut the door behind her, "What happened?" she breathed, her eyes running over me to see the culprit.
My eyes were watering with the pain and I opened my mouth to try and explain but her honey eyes found the mark that burned my skin. The realisation on her face was haunting, her honey eyes drew dark as she understood the situation.
Her small dark hand reached for it, ready to heal my fevered skin but I winced as I held her hand away, "He'll— know."
August will know it was healed. Miles' mark was more than noticeable and I couldn't hide it from him. How would I explain it to him?
Her eyes were glassy as she looked down at me, "If he didn't notice you like this," her voice was full of anger, "then he won't notice my small mark."
I nodded slightly and she absorbed all that burning pain that had enveloped my entire body, I almost cried in relief as I felt it leave my blood and Miles held onto my shoulder longer than necessary.
"Is this normal?" she sounded skeptical. She didn't know anymore than I did.
"I don't know" I said truthfully. I didn't know. I thought it was going to be different, less painful but I hadn't read into it.
My eyes met hers and they held a rage that I've never seen her possess, "Why did he leave you like this?" she words were gritted through her teeth.
I shook my head, jumping to his defence, "He didn't know, I hid it from him."
She smiled softly with her lips but her eyes still swirled with the ghost of her rage, her mouth opened to speak but she thought against it.
Miles stayed and helped me remake my bed, discarding the soiled sheets and then promised her return when she said she was going to get some food for us.
I thought of telling her about the children in the safe setting she created but my lips refused to let the words out. They held the truth captive. I couldn't bring the words out to tell her.
I made it to the bathroom without anyone seeing me and I stared at the black lines that curved over my shoulder, one line kissed the lower left corner of my neck but I could hide it with normal shirts. I was determined to hide it with Quinn's clothes.
Sawyer was waiting for me once I left the bathroom. My hair heavy from the shower, I almost flinched at his sudden presence and he either didn't care or didn't notice.
"I have something to show you" he muttered, looking at his nails and he seemed almost bored.
My frown deepened on my face, "What is it?"
He pushed off the wall and gestures for me to follow him, "The Forecaster has been on my arse about meeting with you and I'm over it" he turned slightly to see if I was following him and he smirked at my expression, "Don't worry, it's not some monster I have in the basement."
I followed him, skeptical of where he was taking me and I watched his dark braid sway with his obnoxious steps, "She'll be so excited."
My brow furrowed, "She?"
The wallpaper became less extravagant, soft floral had now replaced it and the gold trims were no more. It looked almost like a normal house and I went to ask the Soothsayer where he had gotten the maternity clothes from but we came to a stop at a white door.
Sawyer didn't give me a second to compose myself as he opened the door immediately.
My dark eyes widened as they meet the pure blue eyes of Maisie. My hand came up to cover my mouth, trying to hid my shock, "You're the Forecaster?"
This information swirled around my head. My confusion was heavy and shown on my face. Maisie was the Forecaster? Did Sam know this? Why didn't Sam tell me?
Maisie was sitting in one of the long couches that sat against the large windows. Her smile was wide as she took me in and she rose from her seat. Her lilac shirt was stretched over her round belly, she wrapped me in her arms when she finally reached, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
I couldn't take the frown off my face, "But what about Vic?"
She gave me a sad smile, "I left Vic's pack" she rubbed at her belly, "I joined Sawyer's a couple of months ago."
My glare turned to Sawyer and he rolled his eyes before taking a seat, "Don't give me that shit, you know I need all the best wolves and I didn't have a Gamma."
"You're his Gamma?" I turned back to Maisie.
She nodded before rubbing my shoulder, "I have some information for
