“Ha! Me and my creative mind.” I shook my head and when I glanced at my watch, it said; eight past thirty-two. “Oh, crap! I missed the bell!” I slapped my forehead and hurriedly ran to find my classroom. I was huffing and sweating really hard when I arrived in the classroom.
“And you must be the transfer student?” A man with hair that was almost white, with thick, round glasses hanging on his nose asked while he gave me a grim expression.
“Yes, Sir. I'm Cassidy Adams.” I said bashfully and gave him my assignment slip.
“You are five minutes late, Miss Adams, but I will excuse you for today since this is your first day.” He said without smiling.
“Sorry, Sir. It won't happen again and thank you.” I tried to smile, but looking at his steely expression, my smile faded.
“Now, go to your seat.” He ordered and I silently looked for a vacant seat. As I roamed my eyes in the classroom, I saw some girls glaring at me so I averted my eyes and upon doing so, I came across, Mr. Cocky Blonde, sitting at the back, smirking at me. I already guessed that he was attending this school based on his conversation with my aunt last Saturday, but I didn't expect to be in the same class with him. Just great. I thought to myself. I hastily walked toward the empty seat at the back near the window, but someone tripped me which almost made me kiss the floor. I heard soft giggles and I realized they were the girls who were glaring at me a while ago.
“Girls, be quiet!”
“Yes, Mr. Roberts.” A girl with a fake-looking bleach hair said and smirked at me. I decided to ignore her and went to my chosen seat. The class resumed and I was in the middle of trying not to sleep during the boring class of Mr. Roberts when I heard gasps, especially of girls. I then heard Mr. Roberts angry voice again, but I didn't mind it and just continued on doodling in my notebook.
“Another late comer. And you must be?” Mr. Roberts muttered snidely.
“Caleb Scovell. I officially enrolled in this school just today and that explains my tardiness if you were so inclined to ask.” My head snapped to the front almost immediately, not because of the newcomer's smug reply, but because it was familiar. In that fleeting moment, my eyes locked with his icy-blue eyes that were as cold as the night sea.

Chapter 2: The uncanny occurrences
Cold sweat started falling on my brow, face, and nape as I felt a pair of eyes boring behind me. I knew instinctively that he was staring at me and it was making me act fidgety. I moved uncomfortably on my chair as I tried to focus on the lesson, but failed miserably. Why did he have to sit behind me? It's not like he didn't have any choice. There were a few vacant chairs, for God's sake! I screamed in my head and unconsciously, I slammed my fist on my armchair. I was relieved it wasn't very loud, so nobody noticed my strange behavior, yet enough to send my pen flying to the floor. Could you guess where did it fall? It fell beside his right foot! I immediately sat upright and waited for him to pick up my pen and return it to me since it was the polite way to do, but seconds past and still I didn't hear him moved a single bit. I held my breath and decided to turn my head and peeked. I almost gasped to find myself staring at those icy-blue specks. They looked so... Dangerous and... Compelling. I couldn't find the strength to avert my eyes as if they were magnetized to him until...
“Miss Adams? Miss Adams!” I heard Mr. Roberts' irritated voice. It was like a bomb thrown into my frozen state. You could imagine a mirror getting smashed by a hammer and turned into a small debris. I instantly faced to the front and gaped at Mr. Roberts, who was glaring daggers in my direction. I gulped hardly before I spoke.
“Yes, Mr. Roberts?”
“Miss Adams, you were late on your first day of class and now you are not paying any attention to my class. Are you finding Mr. Scovell more interesting than my lesson?” My face turned crimson as my classmates started laughing.
“I... Um... I---” I could literally say, SAVED BY THE BELL. I let out a heavy sigh of relief as soon as my classmates quickly dispersed out of the room after the bell rang. I also gathered my things and was about to leave my chair when a hand appeared in my face and placed my pen on my armchair. I glanced up to see him---Caleb---giving me the same weird look.
“T-hank---” I wasn't able to finish my sentence since he walked---or rather, glided quickly out of the room, leaving me more embarrassed than ever. Hmp! Weird Jerk! I wanted to scream, but held myself.
“Bravo, Miss Muppet! You've just given me one bloody entertaining class today.” I snapped my head behind me and saw Mr. Cocky Blonde with a smirk plastered on his face.
“Leave me alone, Blonde.” I hissed and grabbed my backpack from the armchair.
“Arsey.” He taunted as I rushed out of the room.

My eyes literally bulged out, seeing Caleb for the third time. He had been in my two classes straight already and now, his in my third period class too. It was very tedious having the same class with him. I wasn't exaggerating or anything, but during second period, he sat next to me yet he never said a word or even moved a muscle. I had been all antsy the whole long period because of him and now we would be spending another long hour in Biology. Plus, all the girls in the room were openly swooning over him even the teacher looked at him with fascination. I think Mr. Roberts was the only person immuned to his charms. I, myself, couldn't be excluded, I must admit. I quietly went to Mrs. Williams and gave her my assignment slip. It took me a while to get her attention though.
“Oh, Miss Adams. Good grief, you saved my dilemma, dear!” She exclaimed and even clapped her hands.
“Uh, um, what do you mean, ma'am?” I gawked at her in confusion, but she didn't answer me. Instead, she turned her attention to the girls hovering around Caleb. I wondered what they were arguing and jostling about.
“Mr. Scovell, I found you a partner now. So, girls, go back to your seats. There will be of no need to change partners or leave your poor partners just so you can be with this handsome lad.” Mrs. Williams announced in her amused tone.
“But, Mrs. Williams! I think Caleb wants to be partnered with me.” The girl with the artificial bleached hair and who I remembered---almost made me fall by tripping me in History---complained.
“Ruby, I don't think Scovell feels the same way as you.” I was surprised to see Mr. Cocky Blonde at the far side corner of the room. Now this is just great. Two English jerks in one room and in the same class as me. My day just couldn't get any better. The other guys that were grumbling from the girls' unnecessary noise just a while ago, laughed altogether.
“Shut up, Dylan. You're just bloody-arsed jealous.” She spat out.
“You wish, arseface.”
“W-hat did you sa---”
“Class! That is enough! Ladies go back to your seats this instant.” Mrs. Williams ordered in her authoritative tone. The girls groaned in displeasure, but obeyed and went back to their seats. I was feeling awkward at the moment as I stood in front and waited for Mrs. Williams' instructions, but seemed like she had forgotten about me.
“Um, excuse me, Mrs. Williams---”
“Oh, dear! Do forgive me, I have forgotten about you. Go sit beside Mr. Scovell. You will be partnered together for the whole activities of this class.”
“Wait! She's his partner?! I don't think Caleb would like being partnered with a weird gal such as herself.” The bleach-haired girl called Ruby glared at me condescendingly after finally noticing my existence inside the classroom.
“It is fine.”
All eyes instantly went to Caleb. It was like everyone was surprised to hear him speak. Those three little words were like music to the ears. Well, for me, it was. He was also staring at me with his oh so familiar icy stare which made my knees buckle.
“Oh, there you go. Problem solved. Miss Adams, go on now, dear.” I heard Mrs. Adams, but my feet won't move. They felt like jellies and the fact that everyone's eyes was on me---The girls were glaring at me menacingly while the boys, I wasn't so sure, maybe curious---made me nervous. I was never a big fan of attention.
“Hey, American girl! Will you sit already so we could bloody start?” I heard someone yell from one of the students at the back, followed by the murmuring of other students in agreement. I started walking with my head bent toward the desk where Caleb and I would be sharing for the rest of the school year. I then slowly slid down on the vacant chair beside him as quietly as I could. Mrs. Williams started the lesson and gave us our activity sheet afterward, but I was wondering how could we do our activity together when Caleb seemed to dislike me and won't even talk to me. I wondered or rather I was shock that he even agreed on having me as his partner. He should have chosen Ruby since she was pretty and not weird like me. It would save me some trouble of having to deal with him, ignoring me. But curious as always, I risked a quick glimpse of his face, but just in time for him to catch me. My face automatically reddened and quickly averted my eyes. I let my long, dark hair curtained my flushed face as I pushed the microscope to his side, but he pushed it back to me. I frowned and glanced at him, but he wasn't looking at me. I sighed and decided to do the activity on my own, but I was so distracted by his mere present and his very nice smell. He smelled of something sweet like a combination of lilac, freesia, and violets. Oddly, in spite of that, he didn't smell like a girl. He had this sweet male scent and it made me want to snuggle beneath his arms.
“Aw.” I winced, feeling the slight sting of pain as I accidentally scraped my right thumb against the slide and blood started dripping on my hand. Oh, crap! This is what you get for fantasizing, Cassidy! I scolded myself and reached for my hanky in my bag when all of a sudden, Caleb harshly stood up, knocking his chair down
