door and peeped out, the corridors were empty. Good, I thought to myself and stepped out. I closed the door and walked to my left. It was cold, really cold. The last time I walked these floors was when I had just fully woken up from whatever drugs I was given. I was barefoot and freezing. I placed my hands onto the walls as I walked, ice cold. The other doors were all closed that was in the same corridor as the bedroom I was in. I peeped through a key hole of one door, it was just a dressed-up bedroom as well. “Hi” a voice said behind me. I swung around and into defence mode. My heart nearly stopped, I caught my breath when I realised it was a girl. Around about nine or eight years old. “Uhm hi little girl” I said still in shock. “I would assume you are the new comer. The one who brought our King back.” She said with a massive smile on her face. I kneeled to her. “What’s your name?” I asked, “I’m Clarafin but you can call me Clara.” She responded. “Alright Clara, I’m Amber. So, do you stay here?” I asked. “Of cause I do, you included.” She said. I gave out a loud chuckle. “No Clara, I don’t stay here. Your King is keeping me here and I do not know why. So, I decided to check the castle out until he decided to tell me why.” I said standing up again. “Well, I would also like to know. However, I heard some older ladies saying that you are to wed the King. That is why you are here.” She said grabbing my hand and pulling me down the corridor. “Let me show you around!” she squealed with excitement. I’m not sure if I heard Clara properly. “Wait!” I shouted, yanking my hand back for her to stop. “Wed your King? Did you just say you heard that I was too wed your King?” I asked shockingly. “Yes.” She said with a straight face. I’m sure my face went pale. These people are crazy! They have another thing coming if they honestly think I’m marrying a vampire. “Clara, let’s go. Show me the castle.” I replied after taking a breath. Clara led me through a door which led to a massive library. “Wow Clara.” I said in absolute shock. The books filled up all the walls till the roof. There were ladders on every side, miniature balconies on top and lots of benches that were filled with cushions. The chandeliers were massive and spread across the library. It had a sandalwood scent to it. “When do you plan on closing your mouth Amber?” Clara poked at me. “What? Oh!” I laughed out loud. “This place is incredible, the detail, the smell and the millions of books.” I said still astonished at the beauty that this library brings. “This is one of my favourite places.” Clara said. “Really? A child of your age? Would you not rather play?” I asked. “Yes and learn as well. The King mentioned to us that education is important and is the key to success in life.” She explained. Alright, I must admit. I was impressed with that. “So, do you have school? Teachers?” I asked. “Yeah, we do, we get private lessons. We have a routine that we abide by.” She said again walking towards a wall filled with books “And are you in your routine at the moment? Where is your mother?” I asked curiously. She laughed at me, “No I’m not in my educational routine because its break time!” she giggled jumping down from a ladder with a book in her hand and nearly giving me a heart attack. “My mom is somewhere around I guess. I don’t see much of her.” She explained and looking a bit down after making that statement. I walked over to a bench and sat down, I then signalled for her to sit down. We both crossed our legs at the same time. “Okay Clara, tell me about you and your parents. Life in the castle and outside.” I asked smiling at her. She looked shocked at all the questions I wanted answers too. “What? I’m just curious.” I said moving a strand of hair behind my ear. “Uhm, okay. So, as you already know that my name is Clara. I am eleven years old. I currently stay in the south wing of the castle which is really far but I’m this side because of lectures that is not too far away from the library. Both my parents are classed as supreme leaders, they help govern the vampiric laws. In state, upgrade, adjust and remove. I don’t have any siblings, only kid.” She said and taking a sigh of relief as if she just gave an important speech to a president. “Nice! So, what were you doing when we bumped into each other?” I asked, “I wanted to see you for myself, like I said I heard people speak of you.” She told me. “Alright so what can you tell me about your King?” I asked her, she smiled back at me. “Well, he is amazing so far. I only got to meet him yesterday for the first time since he woke. While he was asleep, we were always reminded of the goodness he brings upon our vampiric coven. I can’t wait to hear more of him and know more of him.” She said. Yes, she is eleven and Bastiaan has been asleep for about twenty odd years. She checked her watch and quickly got up. “Wait where are you going?” I asked trying to reach for her arm. “I’m late! I’m so sorry I must go!” she shouted and disappeared. Oh, my word, how can this kid just leave me here? I don’t know how to get back to my room! I threw my head into my hands in utter disbelief, I laughed for a few seconds. I’m really going to get killed now. I got up and walked towards the other side of the library. I browsed through some books until I found an interesting one. Vampires. I got onto the floor and crossed my legs, I leaned to the back onto the wall and started reading the book. Time went by and eventually I dozed off.

Chapter 4 - Bastiaan’s POV

She really pissed me off, but I love her guts. She decided to not pitch for dinner and quite frankly embarrassed me. The dinner was my welcoming back and a formal thank you to Amber. Nora told me to just let her be because I was about to drag her out of that bedroom and give her a piece of my mind. After dinner I met up with some school children that were born in the time that I was not present. Once I was done with the evenings events I went to my room. It’s been awhile where I just relaxed and breathed. I threw me crystal full of blood from my miniature fridge and run me a bath. I got undressed and slipped into the water. I took a few sips and closed my eyes. I could hear flaps of wind and took a deep breath out of frustration. Neriah. “Will you not leave me alone?” I grumbled under my breath with my eyes still closed. “You always looked hot in the tub.” She answered. “I thought you would cool down by now.” She said again. “I said that I am not interested in you Neriah. What more do you want me to say?” I asked her and getting angry at the thought that she disturbed my quiet time. “I am the King, I have many things to catch up on and all I wanted was one quiet night, one fucking bath with no disruptions. Yet you are here.” I said and this time I sat up. She sat on the cover seat of the loo smiling back at me. “Fine, I will not bother you again.” She said getting up. “Good.” I responded. Suddenly she launched at me with an object, but I was too quick for her and I grabbed her arm twisting it and I quickly bit into her neck. This made her drop the object and disappear. “Fuck!” I shouted. I could still taste her blood as a trail was left behind. I quickly stepped over the object that was on the floor and grabbed a towel. I dried myself and grabbed my robe. “Dregicht! Nora!” I shouted. Within a split second they were in my bedroom. “My Lord.” They both acknowledged me. “I was attacked by Neriah, she tried using this object on me.” I explained and pointing to it. “Oh Goodness no!” Nora exclaimed. Dregicht bent down and picked it up. He turned and looked at me shockingly. “It’s a piece of the glass my Lord.” He said. “What?” I moved forward to him. “So, it was her the first time too?” I said pacing back and forth. “What motive does she have my Lord?” Drecight asked, “Did you quarrel with her?” Nora asked too. I walked over to my bedroom and sat on my bed. “Nora, Dregicht. I need to get away from Czech until this has been resolved. I cannot afford to go to asylum again. I am King!” I said angrily. “I agree, but how and where?” Dregicht asked. “I don’t know yet, give me time to think overnight. But, one thing is for sure. I want a lockdown on all Pixies in the West region. I want every single one of them. Neriah is clever, she won’t go back home. However, she will know that I am serious in getting to her. While I am away, I want you, Nora to do what you have done while I was not here. You did an amazing job.” I stated “Yes, my Lord, you have my word.” She nodded. “Sir Dregicht, you oversee our armies. I need you to lead the vampires towards the West region. I am contacting my father to explain the plan we have.” I explained. “My Lord, that I promise and give my word. We cannot lose you again. This is a very bad time because you have just started to connect with the vampiric community again. I will do my best to get to the bottom of everything, at least now we have some sort of lead with regards to the first incident.” Dregicht stated. “That’s correct, please have extra guards around the castle too, starting tonight. Nora, thank you. You may be dismissed now.” I said, she nodded and walked out. I placed my hand onto Dregicht’s shoulder. “You have been my best friend for years, a great noble, a brave vampire and lastly a good leader. Thank you so much.” I told. He said nothing and just gave me a hug. He left the room and I grabbed my mobile to call my father. << “Father, I have some bad news.” >> << “Son, Bastiaan. What do you mean bad news?” >> << “I have been attacked again with the glass, I was not struck. Almost.” >> << “WHAT!!!!! You just came
