Aiden spilled his skill to the others, receiving confused looks. Even Kirby was confused about the skill, never hearing the name before. However, he didn’t dwell on it. He kept them moving, giving them a large reward.
“We’re leaving five hours from now. Move in pairs or as a group and explore Altis. However, in five hours, we meet back here, or else you’ll be staying in town for a few nights before I come back.” He said. They nodded, smiles on their faces. They were excited to explore new territory. Everybody except for Aiden had lived in Hemlock for their entire lives, never exploring new cities.
“Go, before the five hours are up.” They nodded, running off to explore the town in a group. Laughter and smiles followed after them.
Kirby remained behind, grinning as he watched them run off. He was proud of them. He turned around to walk away when a familiar sight entered his eyes. He tracked the sight down.

Episode Ten "Altis Has Fallen"Aiden and the others wandered around Altis, going from store to store and buying small items. Payton and Mia checked out sparkly jewelry while Eryn supervised. Aiden wandered off in search of the Ironheight Knight Enlisting Office. He wasn’t sure why he wanted to visit the enlisting office as he now wielded a holy sword.
As a holy sword wielder, he toppled over Ironheight Knights, but he still wondered about them. The profession was soaked with bravery and good-doers, creating a perfect job for many. Noble families had sent their children to become Ironheight Knights and fight for their honor. Many commoners grew wealthy after becoming Ironheight Knights, supporting their poor families. Everybody had their reasons to become knights, whether it be the enticing salary or for their honor. However, Aiden wasn’t sure why he wanted to be anywhere near the profession while wielding a holy sword; something that made him stronger than them.
Aiden discovered the enlisting office quickly, which was stationed in the middle of town, and barged in. The receptionist glanced at him and motioned for two knights to talk to him. Two knights appeared from a backroom, meeting with Aiden.
“What’s your name?” The brunette female knight asked.
“Aiden,”
“Aiden, huh? Well, I’m Devin and this here is my… girl… uh, comrade.” He quickly replaced the word ‘girlfriend’ with ‘comrade’, slightly creating awkward tension. Adelle glanced at Devin, her eyes yelling at him, before turning to face Aiden. She quickly put on a fake smile and began to ask questions.
“Why are you here? Are you lost? Or was this place your destination?”
“I want to explore this place,” Aiden responded.
“You want to become an Ironheight knight?” Adelle asked. She glanced at the receptionist who handed her a sign-up sheet. She grabbed it and handed it to Aiden. He declined it. “You don’t want to be an Ironheight knight?”
Aiden shook his head. He brandished his sword, showing it off. The people in the room could sense the holy aura surrounding it.
“Oh, you’re a holy sword wielder. That makes sense. Us knights would be too restrictive and weak.” Devin remarked, acting snippy. It was apparent that he didn’t have the fondest opinion of holy sword wielders.
Adelle elbowed him, shushing his mouth. He nodded, taking her advice. She turned to face Aiden, again asking him for his purpose. “Explore,” He responded. She nodded and let him walk around freely. Devin glared at Aiden, but Adelle dragged him away before it could go further.
Aiden explored the rather large enlisting office. It was a three-story warehouse resembling an office building. The interior was a friendly shade of green, inviting people into the deep parts of the building. In the deep parts, being the third floor, were training areas for rookies. The enlisting office acted as a way to enlist more knights and train the rookies before shipping all of them out to larger cities. At large cities, they would join a platoon and be used as pawns for the Holy Kingdoms, throwing them all over the world. Some joined the frontlines while others like Devin and Adelle were tasked with overlooking small towns’ enlisting offices.
Aiden discarded the thoughts of being sacrificial pawns. Instead, he focused out of the third floor’s window. Through it, he could see the entire town. He saw the luscious emerald grass and expanding blue skies. It was a normal day, nothing out of ordinary. That’s when he noticed a clump of red heading towards the main entrance. They were demons.

The demons made their way to the main entrance, devastating the weak guards there. After wrecking through their defenses, the demons---led by Demon Lord Hakton---pushed their way through the town. They ravaged the town in a matter of minutes. Aiden, who was watching from the third floor, quickly sprinted down the three flights and reached the ground. He noticed the disappearance of the Ironheight Knights he met earlier, most likely assisting the battles against the demons.
Aiden ran out of the building and towards where he saw the demons. They were heading from one entrance to another. He planned to cut them off and slaughter them all, but it was interrupted by an unseen force. Fear. He was afraid to fight against real demons. In his vicinity was a demon lord, the same being that tore through his hometown. The same being responsible for his parents’ death.

Kirby sprinted around, searching for the kids. By his side was Emile, stupidly following them from Hemlock. He had followed them to spy on his sister and Aiden. He wasn’t excited to see his sister leave their hometown and go by herself to somewhere new. So he decided to follow her; an extremely dumb thing to do.
He tried his best to keep up with Kirby as they searched for Aiden and the others. He wanted to find them and leave. Kirby was on the same wavelength, desperately searching for them. However, his skills wouldn’t help him locate them.
“W-Wait, I-I-I’m t-tired,” Emile muttered, heavily panting. Kirby ignored him, spotting Aiden frozen in fear. He sprinted to his side, grabbing Aiden and dragging him away.
“I-I c-c-can’t,” He muttered.
Kirby shushed him. “I know. I know. I know. By surviving, you’ll get another chance.” He told him. Aiden nodded, picking up his feet. Kirby led them to a newly abandoned building and ordered them inside. “I’ll be right back, do not leave. I’m going to look for the others. Stay quiet and don’t attract any of them. It will be scary, but do your best and keep yourself together.” Both kids nodded, watching as Kirby left them.

An hour passed and the demons had taken over the town, killing anybody they could find. Those that remained, hid in houses and did their best to survive.
Aiden and Emile sat in complete darkness and with the sounds of screams and growling blasting in their ears. They remained silent, sitting on opposite ends of a worn-out couch. Emile was staring off into a corner, near-lifeless. He hadn’t spoken since Kirby left. As for Aiden, he was playing with his hands while slowly counting up the seconds. He had gone from zero to five hundred before messing up and restating. He was now at six hundred forty-seven.
Emile glanced away from the corner at Aiden. He opened his mouth but hesitated to speak. After some moments, he spoke. “Why are you here?”
“What do you mean?”
“You’ve been training for a while. So why aren’t you out there fighting?”
“I-” Aiden had no response. No retort or clever comeback. “I’m scared, okay. I thought I could fight, but…”
“I see, so the training was in vain,” Emile remarked.
“It was-” Aiden started. He stopped himself, staring down at his lap. He slightly nodded his head. “You’re right, it was.”
“I know,”

Kirby remerged, motioning for them to follow after him. By his side was Mia, Payton, and Eryn. They were safe and sound. Also by his side was a lady who looked to be made out of light. The light lady glanced at Aiden, remarking “another holy sword wielder?” Before looking away. She was with a comrade.
“Okay, let’s get out of here then. There’s already five demon lords’ worth of demons here. We need to go before they trample on us. Altis has fallen.” The second holy sword wielder remarked. This holy sword wielder was a young man in his twenties with brown locks. He looked to be in a gray area between masculine and feminine. He wore thin and lightweight iron armor.
“Let’s go, then,” Kirby led the group to the wall surrounding the town. From there, the holy sword wielders defended the kids from the onslaught of demons. Kirby helped the kids over the wall before informing the holy sword wielders. They followed him, jumping over the wall with ease. They then sprinted away from the town, leaving it to the care of the demons. Altis had fallen into the demons' hands. They've forsaken the city.
Aiden tearfully glanced back. He had said much and trained for this moment. He was prepared to fight against the demons, but---when the chance appeared---he froze. He was afraid of them. He was afraid of death. He was scared as a kid would be. No matter what, Aiden was, to put it simply, a child. A child with untapped power and a lack of confidence. He was a child afraid of death.
