She laughed. “You checked out my website.”
Her website was her blog about her adventures in animal rescue, including her research and her nature photography. He grinned as he replied with a kiss, “Well, you are doing the world a service. I like supporting good causes.”
“Including veganism?” she asked, smirking with a peek to their dishes of vegetarian curry. There was no garlic in it, which to him was all that mattered.
He chuckled, shaking his head. “I will support your veganism. But you know my limitations. I just can’t do it all the time.”
“Well… we all have our dietary issues,” she said.
He laughed, nodding. But then he said, “Are you sure you want to do this? Dating me will upend your life.”
She shrugged. “Are you not sure it is the other way around? People might question your integrity for dating a Bruchenhaus.”
Rick laughed. It almost sounded like a bark. “You are so funny.”
“And you,” Audry said, with a smile, “are being silly. Stop trying to chase me away.”
“People might start to accuse you of compromising your vegan values,” he said, smirking.
Audry sighed. After a moment of reflection, she said, “Veganism really isn’t realistic anyway. So who cares? Besides, what right do I have to be all sanctimonious over someone else’s eating habits? I think I’ll just be vegetarian.”
His eyes widened on her. Leaning in, he whispered, “Careful, lady. With that attitude, I just might convert you to eating chicken.”
She laughed and kissed him.
One thing was certain to her. Rick was a good man and a beautiful wolf.
