They both joined Santa at the table for a snack while Santa had his dinner. While Tiger talked and laughed Chewy just couldn't take his eyes off of Santa. He just couldn't believe that this really could be the man everyone had made a fuss about. Are we really in Santa's cabin? No, it couldn't be he thought, after all where is he's not wearing a red suit. After Santa had done eating, and the boys headed over to the fireplace Mrs. Clause cleaned up the dishes, and it wasn't long before she them. Tiger snuggled up to Santa and his wife while Chewy stayed on the floor by the fireplace, where he curled up in warmth. Santa then told them stories of how he became Santa, and how he met Mrs. Claus. It wasn't long before Chewy and Tiger fell fast asleep. Mr, and Mrs. Claus, quietly went off to bed, leaving the boys sleeping. Early next morning Chewy and Tiger woke up to the smell of pancakes. Chewy and Tiger first groomed themselves -- then each other, before they walked over to the kitchen table. Santa was already sitting at the table waiting for them.
"Ho, Ho, Ho. Good morning boys. I hope you had a restful night." Still a little groggy they both answered, "We did."
Once breakfast was ready, Santa called the boys to sit on his lap and they both jumped up. Chewy sat on Santa's left knee and Tiger on the right. "I bet I know what you boys would like for Christmas." The boys just looked at Santa with sparkles in their eyes. Santa looked down seeing the eagerness in both boys, and began to speak.
"You want a new home for Christmas. Isn't that right?" Chewy answered curiously, "How did you know? Do you read minds too?"
"No boys,” replied Santa, with another hearty laugh, and he paused for a moment before he added. “I send my elves to visit the homes of all the children. They then return with the letters of all the boys and girls with a list of all their wishes,” replied Santa, after he gave a big hearty laugh.
“But, we can’t write letters, so how do you know what we want,” asked Tiger, curiously.
“Well, boys, I have a special globe that is filled with magic. It shows all the animals all over the world, and that is how I know that your wish is to have a home for Christmas.”
“Wow, can we see it, please,” asked Tiger, excited by the thought of a magical globe.
“Sure, come on.”
Santa then led them to a small office to the back of the cabin, where he then unlocked a cupboard, and picked up a large globe with caution. He then rested it onto his desk, and they all gazed into it for a moment. Soon, they saw a lost little deer wondering the forest, in search of his mother after a horrible storm. Then the image on the globe showed the mother deer at the other end of the forest. She was weeping, because she felt that she had lost her son for good.
“We have seen that deer before. She is the one who warned us of the storm that we go caught in,” exclaimed Tiger.
“Yes, I remember her,” added Chewy.
“Are you going to reunite them, Santa,” asked Tiger.
“Yes, I am, and it is going to be in the early morning of Christmas. Mother and son would soon be together again,” replied Santa with a joyful smile.
Santa then returned the globe into the cupboard, and guided the boys back to the living room, where they continued their conversation.
“Can I ask, Santa? How are you going to reunite them,” asked Chewy, still not believing what he was hearing and what he saw in the globe.
“I have my own little magic my dear boy,” replied Santa, with a wink.
“Well it doesn’t matter how he does it, Chewy. I think, it only matters that the two is reunited, and they have a happy ending. I like happy endings.
“You are right, Tiger,” said Chewy, before he turned toward Santa, and added, “I’m sorry for asking too many questions.”
“Not to worry, dear boy. I understand why you need to ask all those questions. Anyone who do not believe in miracles or anything else, usually ask many questions. It is perfectly understandable.” Santa then added, “Now, if you have anymore questions, I would be happy to answer them,” replied Santa, with a warm and joyful smile.
“I think, that’s all the questions I have for now, Santa,” replied Chewy.
“Well, I have more questions,” exclaimed Tiger, as he jumped up onto Santa.
Santa smiled at Tiger’s eagerness -- while Chewy, also jumped onto Santa lap, Once the boys were sitting comfortably on his lap, once again, Santa laughed, amused by Tiger’s excitement, and thought with a smile, ‘These boys would be adopted in no time. They are both such sweet wonderful boys,” before he spoke again.
“Ask away.”
"How do you read all those letters on time to deliver their wishes? You must get thousands upon thousands of letters, right,” asked Tiger, curiously.
"I have a scanner in the warehouse that just scans all the main wishes on each letter and who had wished them along with the addresses, so we know where to deliver the presents. It makes things go a lot quicker. If you like, I will give you a tour of the warehouse, before you return home."
Sadly Chewy and Tiger looked up at Santa and reminded him that they don't have a home yet. Santa then smiled at them.
"Don't worry boys, by tomorrow afternoon you'll have one," Santa paused for a moment seeing how sad the boys truly were, and quickly cheered them up by adding, "Well boys, if you want a tour of the warehouse, we better get going. I have lots of work to do still."
Chewy and Tiger appeared excited once again, and put their boots, and coats on that Mrs. Claus had made for them before they left on Santa sleigh. When they arrived at the warehouse, Santa gave them a guided tour. First they went to where all the toys were made, then to the office to the scanner room. There were other cats with ears that looked like elf ears -- just like Kit.
They boys noticed that all the elves wore the same style clothing with same colors, green and white. Santa then showed the boys how the scanner works, and had the boys try it out for themselves. Tiger tried it out the scanner first before Chewy had a chance.
Once they both had a go at it, they were amazed by the results. Soon after, Santa led them back to the warehouse to help the elves build toys for the rest of the afternoon.
The boys noticed Kit at the back of the warehouse and waved. She then smiled and started toward them. When they were face to face with her, she had apologized for being impatient yesterday and rude.
"It’s alright. We understand, and we forgive you,” replied Chewy with a warm smile.
"Thank you, boys,” said Kit as she then headed back toward her post, and continued working.
By the end of the day the boys were exhausted from all the hard work, so when the boys arrived back at the cottage, they had dinner and soon fell fast asleep.
The Wish
:
The next morning Chewy and Tiger had awakened, to discover that they were lying in soft beds, curled up with one another. They heard many voices and looked around. The boys realized that they were in a large cage with food, water and their litter boxes nearby. Moments later, Chewy and Tiger saw a couple peering through the cage and smiling at them. Tiger quickly rushed over and began purring. When Chewy saw how nice the couple was as they picked up Tiger, and took turns as they nestled him in their arms, Chewy strolled over – in hope to receive the attention that Tiger was getting. Within an hour they were in the back seat of the couple's car. Chewy and Tiger were purring and meowing softly feeling quite content. It wasn't long before the car stopped and the boys looked out the window.
They saw a beautiful little house with white shingles, and red brick. The next thing they knew, they were inside, and it appeared larger than the outside. The boys were even more excited, because it meant more space to run around in. Chewy then realized that they didn't know the names of the couple until they heard the couple talking to one another. Their names were Harrison, and Cynthia. Chewy and Tiger investigated the house some more, and then walked over to the living room where they found two kitty beds. Chewy walked over to one of the round beds and Tiger ran over to the other. The boys also noticed a little red bow tied around the beds. Within moments when the couple saw that the boys found their beds -- they untied the bows for Chewy and Tiger. As Chewy and Tiger both curled up in their beds, they discovered how soft and warm they were; it was heavenly.
Then the boys decided to get up and walk to the kitchen where they saw two bowls. One was filled with water and the other, with kibbles. Once Chewy and Tiger had satisfied their thirst and hunger they strolled up to the couple, and brushed up against them as they purred. The nice couple then played and snuggled with the boys throughout the day until it was night and the couple went off to bed.
While the boys slept soundly in the living room, they heard a sound, and opened their eyes and to their surprise, saw Santa sneaking about, adding presents under the Christmas tree. The boys watched quietly as Santa added some presents under the tree and climbed up the chimney. The boys went back to sleep and awoke the next day which was Christmas day. When Chewy and Tiger each received a stocking full of toys, along with edible goodies their faces lit up like never before. There were even presents from Santa for each of the boys. When their new parents opened the presents for them, the boys could not wait to try the collars on, that laid inside the boxes. The collars had red rhinestones on them with their names engraved in a green metal charm. Chewy and Tiger glanced over at each other, while their new parents put the collars on for them. It was then; the boys decided that, they are going to be very happy here in their new home – as they purred contently, while snuggling up to their new, mommy and daddy.
"Santa is real after all,” thought Chewy, as he smiled to himself, with a gleam in his eyes.
Epilogue
