for a truck with claw marks on the side. It wasn’t hard to find that shitty ass truck.”

“You come near my girl,” Roman says as he steps up to him, their faces inches apart, “or touch my truck again, and I’ll kill you.”

“Your girl?” Enzo hisses through clenched teeth. “She’s my sister!”

“She’s my mate!”

I scream as they lunge at each other, fighting and wrestling into the truck.

“Stop it, you idiots!” I shout as I hit their arms, trying to break them apart. It’s no use. They’re way too strong.

The rumbling sound of motorcycles gets their attention and they separate as nine men on bikes come rolling into the parking lot.

“Roman?” I whisper as panic starts to fill me up.

The terrifying-looking men park in a line and shut off their motorcycles. I feel sick when I see the familiar name on their leather vests—Lone Wolf Mercenaries.

So, they were after my mate. Why didn’t I say something when I had the chance?

“Bailey,” Roman snaps as he shoves the truck’s keys into my hand. “Get in the truck. Drive far away. If one of these guys follows you, run them off the road.”

I grip the keys as I look at him with dread. “I’m not leaving without you.”

“Go!” he roars. “Now, or you might not have another chance.”

“Who are these guys?” Enzo says, looking at them in confusion. “Wolf shifters?”

The line of nine bikers comes walking over. Two have baseball bats, one has a chain, another has a knife that’s glinting in the sun.

“That’s far enough,” Enzo hisses as he puts his hand up to them. “What do you guys want?”

The biggest one who looks like the leader has an ugly mullet and an eye patch over his left eye. He’s terrifying and I don’t want my mate or my brother anywhere near him. He steps forward and points at Roman.

“We’re here to kill him. We have no beef with you, so leave if you want.”

“You’re here to kill him?” Enzo says with a scoff. “No, I’m here to kill him.”

“Enzo!” I plead. “What are you doing?”

I rush up to him and grab his shirt. Some of the fury disappears from his face when he finally looks down at me.

“You’re my big brother,” I say as tears come to my eyes. “You’re supposed to help and protect me.”

“You don’t know this guy,” he says as he shoots a fierce glare at Roman. “I do. He’s no good. He and his brothers are killers.”

“Maybe that’s true,” I say as I plead to him with my eyes. “But he’s also my mate and I love him.”

Enzo winces at the word.

“If you hurt him or if you let these guys hurt him, I’ll never forgive you. Never.”

We lock eyes for a long moment and I can see the wheels turning in his mind. My brother has always been a stubborn person but he’s a good man and I know he’ll do what’s right.

“That’s enough of that,” the large guy with the mullet says as they start advancing on Roman.

My man yanks off his shirt, kicks off his shoes, and starts to shake. I’m about to see his bear come roaring out. I know what that looks like. I’ve seen Enzo do it many times over the years.

The bikers start running at him and Roman’s grizzly explodes out of him just as they arrive. Three men jump on the furious bear as several others begin to pop into their wolf forms all around him. He’s quickly swarmed by the savage pack.

The sounds are horrible as Roman’s Kodiak fights for his life. I can barely see him surrounded by the ruthless bikers who are hitting him with the weapons and kicking and punching.

“You’re just going to stand there?!” I scream at my brother. “They’re killing him!”

“It’s for the best,” he says under his breath as he watches with a tense body.

“Fine,” I say as I push his chest. “Then, I’ll do it myself.”

I run over to help in any small way that I can, but my brother’s hand wraps around my wrist and he pulls me back.

“You really love him?”

“I do. It’s going to shatter me if something happens to him.”

He sucks in a breath and then yanks off his shirt. I stand back as he starts shaking all over.

My brother’s grizzly has always been so powerful and he looks more ferocious than ever as he rips out of Enzo’s skin with a feral snarl.

Half the bikers turn and rush over to fight him, but Enzo is ready. He slams his paw into the first man who arrives, knocking him onto his ass.

Two wolves leap on him, but he catches one in his powerful jaws and shakes the other one off.

Roman’s Kodiak gets up to his paws and lashes out at a circling wolf. My mate’s fur is matted with blood in places and he looks hurt, but he’s still fighting hard.

Even throughout the danger, I still get tingles while I watch Roman in his bear form. It’s the first time I’ve seen him like this. He’s beautiful.

An older couple walks out of the hotel holding hands and then screams when they see the vicious predators in an all-out brawl. The lady loses a shoe as they rush back into the hotel.

All of the bikers are in their wolf forms. They’re circling around the two bears who are now standing back to back.

A couple of wolves are limping. One is all bloodied up.

I run over and grab a baseball bat off the ground, holding it just in case.

With blood-curdling roars, the two bears rush forward, fighting as one as they drive the wolves back. They don’t stand a chance now that my two men are fighting together.

They swat their big powerful paws at the wolves and snap their jaws as they charge at them.

They make the unlucky wolves who get caught in their way pay for showing up with deep gashes and bite marks.

It doesn’t take long before the wolves give up. They flee back to their bikes
