“Veronica!” Allison’s voice echoed through the woods.
Veronica ran out of the trails but was careful on where feet would have landed, to be able to prevent herself from tripping again. She was approaching home, still with no shoes on, while her shoes were wrapped around her neck via the laces. She ran up to the front door of her house, as she raised her hand towards the doorknob handle, a scent of ice essence appeared from her right hand, which froze the entire lock of the front door, meaning a key could not be inserted. She got scared and attempted to open the doorknob, luckily to her surprise the door was unlocked.
She rushed upstairs before her mother could notice that she was back home. She knocked on the bathroom door loudly since she could tell that the bathroom was occupied. “Hey, Trace could you get out of there, I need the bathroom badly!” Veronica spoke eagerly.
Tracy came out of the washroom. Verionica quickly locked the bathroom door and turned on the shower, did not bother to strip. With her clothes on still, she put the water to the hottest temperature and sat down in the bathtub, as the hot water was beginning to warm her up. Veronica wrapped herself with her hands and arms, still wearing her clothes. The hot water was beginning to work, her hands and feet were not numb anymore. She turned the shower handle even more to the maximum hot setting as high as possible. She began to snap the icicles off her hair strands with the hot water penetrating it, which acted as an adhesive as she stroked her hair with her hands creating friction between her palms, to help get rid of the icicles. She laid there in the bathtub with the hot water running for the next 30 to 40 minutes, until the hot water ran out.
She turned off the tap and wrapped herself in the bathroom towel, since she was afraid of feeling cold again. Despite her clothes and her body being wet, feeling lukewarm, calmed her down, since she felt no more numb or cold feeling within herself. She looked at herself in the mirror, began to see her wet hair start to redevelop into icicles, she took a pair of scissors and started to cut out the strands of her hair, she was forced to end up with a short to medium length pixie cut hair style, to prevent as much of the icicles from redeveloping.
She began to blow dry her hair while her hands and bare feet were not feeling numb no more, she was still wrapped herself in a towel despite still wearing clothes underneath, as she got out of the bathroom, she saw Trixie staring at her. As Veronica saw Trixie, she saw her hair full white with a few pastel colored strands, and she started to wonder if she dyed it or was it a phenomena?
“Hey,” Veronica stammered. “Nice hair colour I guess.”
Trixie panicked and looked in the washroom mirror, she saw her white hair redeveloped with the same rainbow pastel colours except with added pastel orange coloured strand onto it. Veronica’s hands and bare feet were beginning to redevelop the numbness again along with damp coldness developing around them.
Veronica pushed Trixie to the hallway by their bedrooms, “You and I need to talk on what the heck is going on here!” Trixie nodded and shuttered, “Yeah yeah definitely!”

Sentient

Phone call after call, text after text, Aiden began to see a lot of messages, mainly from his Dad, as he headed back home after Luis’s birthday party. He started to worry as he read the texts and missed calls from his Dad, he was afraid to go back home due to some family issues going on that he had not told any of his close friends about. He approached his home and sighed that he was afraid that a family argument was gonna happen.
As he entered his home, seeing his parents both standing there in the lounge as he approached them. Aiden was nervous and worried about his parents arguing with him, he sighed and said, “Here we go again.”
“Where were you?” his father spoke impatiently.
“I went to Luis’s birthday party,” Aiden responded. “I even told you 2 weeks prior.”
“Liar,” his father spoke madly in denial.
“I swear I went to Luis’s birthday party, go call him up, he will say I was there.” Aiden responded.
His father then spoke in a furious tone; “Then why have you sneaked out of the house most of the time in the past weeks or months then, huh?”
“To stay away from you and your rude behavior,” Aiden spoke. “I am sick of your restrictions on my life, you have been treating Mom very harshly in the past few years of my life. There I said it, that is the truth. I go out to see my friends. They have even asked me on why I don’t ever smile, now you know why.”
The grown middle-aged man, Aiden’s father suddenly threatened his mother, verbally and physically almost. “You let Aiden get out of the house, didn’t you?” He spoke angrily and spoke to Aiden’s mother in a very moronic tone. Aiden was beginning to feel scared that his mother was getting threatened or abused by his father again, like she has in the past, but mainly verbally.
Aiden approached his father in an upright posture to show that he was not spineless. “Mom has nothing to do with this, you piece of filth. You ruin lives, you have ruined my life, and Mom’s. You have abused me all my life, you filth!” Aiden spoke very firmly and rudely for the first time ever to his father after many years of child abuse by him. This explained why Aiden did not really smile or talk much
