associated with being tripped out on magic.”

She slapped a hand across her mouth, realising she hadn’t meant to say that last part. Jamie’s eyes flickered with longing.

“You know I’ll have to be gentle if I take you again.”

She lowered her hand. He cupped her face, thumb running along her bottom lip. His eyes were on hers, molten silver reflecting the intense lust she felt for him at that moment. He hadn’t moved off her, they were still joined together and he was most definitely hard.

“I’ve corrupted you and fuck if that doesn’t turn me on,” he whispered before he kissed her.

She’d been in a state of delirium when they’d kissed before, utterly consumed by the need to fuck. Now, she felt the real connection between them. She really felt Jamie. His cool skin. The way his lips felt like ice against hers. And not to mention how full she felt with his cock inside her. I’ve only ever had two fae men before and they really don’t match up to Jamie at all.

He started to move, causing her to yelp into his mouth.

Just how hard did he fuck me when I was high on magic?

He pulled away, looking down at her with concern.

“What’s wrong? You do want this, right?”

“I do… I just need a minute. That was kind of intense.”

He grinned, eyes lighting up with mischief.

“Mmm, yes, it was.”

He pulled out of her and sat up on his knees. She felt bereft of his presence around her immediately. He looked down at her skin, his eyes clouding over.

“Fucking hell, I didn’t mean to… Shit, Dani, I’m so sorry.”

She looked down at herself. Her hips and inner thighs bore large bruises, which were darkening rapidly. She frowned, whilst it looked pretty awful, it didn’t hurt.

“I shouldn’t have let go with you. Fuck.”

“It doesn’t hurt.”

“That doesn’t matter, fuck, look at you.” He waved a hand at her. “Shit, the first time I take you to bed and I cause this because I wasn’t in control at all.”

His words didn’t escape her notice. The first time? Wait? Does he want to do this again after tonight?

“I can see and it’s not your fault. I asked you to let go.”

Glittering pale blue magic seeped out of her hand, running down her stomach and across her legs and hips. The bruising faded within moments. His eyes met hers, turmoil in those silver depths.

“I’m not some delicate flower. Please, stop looking at me like you could break me any second.”

“I’m supposed to be your friend and that means taking care of you, not fucking and bruising you.”

She sat up and wrapped her arms around his back. He didn’t try to hold her, but he didn’t pull away either.

“Stop it. We’re both to blame for what happened this evening, so stop.”

“Dani…”

“No. I don’t want to hear it. You helped me when I fucked up and needed it the most. I trust you. Nothing is going to change that, okay?”

She really did trust him even though they knew so little of each other. Jamie seemed so self-assured, but what happened between them showed her something else lurked behind that confident exterior.

He wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her hair.

“Trusting me is dangerous.”

“I knew from the moment I saw you it would be dangerous to know you.”

“Well, you’ve not run away screaming.”

She looked up at him.

“Do you think you’re some kind of monster? Because I assure you, I’d be one too if that’s the case.”

“Not a monster, just deadly.”

She reached up, curling her hand around his neck and pulling him down. Her nose brushed against his, but she didn’t kiss him.

“You know my biggest secret now.”

“I can’t believe your father makes you have sex with your bodyguard.”

“I don’t have much of a choice. You saw what happens. If I left it any longer, it would have only got worse for me.”

He ran a hand up her back, leaving goosebumps in his wake. His fingers brushed over her jaw. She didn’t feel self-conscious despite them both being naked and pressed up against each other.

“I’ve done a lot of terrible things as a vampire. I’ve hurt and maimed, but I’ve only ever killed once. It’ll haunt me for the rest of my existence. One day, I’m going to tell you what happened. You’ll be the only person I’ve trusted with the truth.”

His eyes flickered with pain. Her heart felt tight.

He wants to let me in? I never expected sex to bring us closer together as friends.

“Tomorrow we’ll forget we slept together and be friends again, but right now, I want to kiss you, feel you, be in you.”

His lips brushed over hers. A hot wave of desire cut through her. His other hand cupped her behind, pressing her closer. She felt his cock throbbing between them. If tonight was going to be the only time they did this, then she’d make it count.

“I want you too,” she whispered.

Dani opened her eyes. Jamie lay next to her, his eyes closed. He looked completely at peace and very much dead to the world. There was a note resting by his head. She plucked it from the pillow, turning over onto her back. On the front in beautiful handwriting was her name. She unfolded it.

Dani

I wasn’t sure when you’d wake up. Stay as long as you want, I won’t rise till sunset. I hope you don’t get in trouble for staying out all night.

Jamie

Novus was definitely going to be mad, but she didn’t care. The night she’d spent with the vampire had flipped her world upside down. Not only had she seen more than she bargained for at ObliVion, she’d had mind blowing, life changing sex
