my face but I wondered if anyone could notice my intention yet or not. But, even if no one bothered to notice anything about me, I knew very well that I will not be able to escape those alluring blue eyes which were fixed on me even now, with no intention to turn any other way.

This time something different was in them. As if he was already broken from inside...as he was witnessing some kind of betrayal which he had never expected, I assume.

But only if he knew.

From the corner of my eyes, I noticed Seth, who was trying to sneak away from the recent situation that had raised on our pack ground right at this moment.

And I knew exactly what was he planning to do at such a crucial time, cause I believe he and his son Kaith was very aware of my plan now. I also realised that if Kaith had already decided to stay by my side during the fight, that means he had already made his father aware of what he has to do on behalf of him, and instead of Kaith, Seth will carry on with the task to take them here within time.

So, now I can rest assured that nothing will go wrong this time.

Even though I knew that everything, for the time being, is just an act of pretending for a better cause, somehow the look on Kazan's eyes were killing me from inside as he did not say a single word after listening to whatever I uttered the last. As if he still could not believe that I just agreed with my uncle to kill my own mate.

You are a big fool, Kazan.

Tsk.

Seeing that now it would not take long to reveal the entire truth after everyone gets here, I decided to put on another act of fighting with Kazan, cause I needed to buy time for Seth, at least until he arrives here.

“Are you afraid now?” I asked rudely, while I did not forget to pretend as if I was really going to rip Kazan's head off of his body with the vicious sword which was already in my hand and at its point, there was standing Kazan. Although he was still holding the sword that I gave him just a while ago, he seemed absolutely reluctant to lift it up only to begin the fight.

“Yes.” He replied in short while his eyes never left mine during all this while.

“Do not worry, I will make sure that you do not have to feel much pain. I will be fast enough to do what I am supposed to do.” I replied, attempting not to give any kind of hint to anyone about what exactly I was talking about right now.

But whatever my words sounded to others, it seemed that Benjamin got impressed a lot thinking that at last his problems were going to be resolved without him doing any kind of effort.

“I am not afraid to die, but...” Kazan chose to reply all of a sudden, taking me absolutely off guard and pulled me close to him by my arms with just one single move, only to whisper into my ears, “ I am afraid that if I am gone, then I might not be able to protect both of you anymore.”

His words made me absolutely stupefied for the slightest moment. My heart started to race even faster, but I needed to come back to my right mind, no matter how weak his words were making me right at this moment without anyone's clue.

I shoved the chest of Kazan with all my strength and gripped the sword tightly in an instant, whereas Kazan too stepped back a little bit only to stand in a defensive position, making himself all ready to initiate the fight between us once again, even if he had to do that against his own will.

No one dared to make any noise even when the whole crowd was present there, and Benjamin?

Well, he gave out a cruel laugh of satisfaction, seeing us mates fighting against each other only to kill one another. At least, that was what he thought.

Kaith's ferocious growl resonated throughout the entire surrounding just when our swords met, making the treacherous clanking noise of the metals crashing. Even the noise of our swords cutting the thin air in between while moving forward, appeared the most threatening right at this moment.

Even though Kazan was not at all giving his all, neither was I, the fight was not just a mere combat between the two opposition, cause it was necessary to hold Benjamin back till the last moment.

But little did I expected that someone else was going to come to join us at any time soon.

“What would you get if you fight with someone who is not an alpha at all?” The very familiar voice roared from the other side of the ground, shaking the earth beneath us which indeed made both me and Kazan stop our fight at once, cause we were just waiting for one single interruption to do so, and here he came.

Markus was standing with a furious expression on his face that I have never seen before. This way, both Kazan and Markus kind of looking alike, but I knew it was not the case at most of the time.

The whole crowd who was watching our fight till now, turned to see Markus, who had already started to approach us deliberately. And it seemed that Markus's presence or his words, either of it might have made Benjamin even angrier than ever.

“What exactly are you trying to say?” One of the men of Benjamin's army who were always standing with the crowd since the very beginning, came forward in order to stop Markus from taking another step ahead towards Benjamin, only to protect his alpha from the possible danger.

“I
