she anchored her fingers in my hoodie and pulled me closer.

“Open up for me, Miley.” Let me in.

She let out a soft sigh and I plunged my tongue into her mouth, burying one of my hands into her hair and stroking the side of her neck. Miley clutched me tighter, leaning up on her tiptoes to kiss me back. Hard and bruising, we fought for control, neither willing to bend.

“You taste so fucking good,” I murmured the words as I slowed the kisses, teasing her.

“But what about Kendall?”

“Kendall?” Why the fuck did she keep mentioning Kendall?

“You want to talk about Kendall?” I nipped her bottom lip, soothing the sting with my tongue. “Now? When I’m thinking about doing very bad things to you?”

“Oh God,” she breathed, as I slipped my hand underneath her t-shirt and splayed it over her stomach. Miley’s skin was so warm and soft. I explored her body, reveling in the little moans she made as my hand found her breasts.

“We really shouldn’t be doing this here,” she whispered.

“Do you want me to stop?” I eased back to look at her. Her cheeks were flushed and eyelids heavy. She looked so fucking beautiful she stole my breath.

“N-no. God… no.”

She was right. It was a risk, touching her like this in the library. The place where she worked. But it was like the rope had snapped, sending my control spiraling into oblivion.

I wanted her.

And it was all I could think about.

I trailed my fingers back down the flat of her stomach and dipped them inside her pants. Miley gasped, her entire body going tense.

“I-I’ve never—”

Fuck. She was a virgin.

Why did that make me even hotter for her?

“Shh.” I kissed the corner of her mouth. “I’ve got you, just relax.” Gently, I pushed a finger into her. She was so fucking tight. I didn’t want to hurt her. But Miley didn’t seem to care as she started to ride my hand.

“That feels…”

I circled her clit with my thumb, driving her wild. She tried to smother the little noises of pleasure crawling up her throat, but failed, so I kissed her hard, swallowing them for her.

“God, Avery… it’s…” she moaned again.

“Come for me, babe… I need you to—” Miley’s legs began to tremble as her orgasm crashed over her.

She buried her face in the crook of my shoulder, riding out the waves of pleasure. When she finally gave me her eyes again, she was wearing a shy smile.

“That was… unexpected.”

Tell me about it, I internally groaned.

I gave her some space to tidy up. Miley tucked some strands of hair behind her ear and smiled at me again. “Is this the part where you tell me it was a mistake?” Her expression fell.

And I hated it.

I hated that she thought so lowly of me.

But I also hated that I lost control with her.

I was a fucking mess when it came to this girl.

“I see.” Her lips pursed. “Well, I’ll just be over there—”

“Wait.” I snagged her wrist. “I’m just confused.”

“About me?”

I nodded. “About what I feel for you. I thought if we got some closure—”

“That was supposed to be closure?” Lust and anger flared in her eyes and it made her look so damn cute, I wanted to kiss the shit out of her again.

“It wasn’t.” I admitted, and relief washed over her. “But I’m still confused. This, you and me, it’s complicated.”

Miley gave me a small nod. “I’ll be at the desk when you’re ready.” This time when she walked away, I let her go. Because I needed space, and I couldn’t think straight around her.

I copied the rest of my papers and made my way over to the desk. The place was still empty, no signs of the manager.

“What time do you finish here?” I asked Miley.

“In thirty minutes. That’s two dollars and fifty cents.”

I dug out the money and paid her. “Thanks. Do you have a ride home?”

“No, I usually walk. It isn’t far.”

“I can give you a ride, if you want?”

“You don’t have to do that, Avery.”

“I want to,” I said. “Please.”

“Okay, I’d like that.”

“Okay then, I’ll wait outside.”

When Miley finally exited the library, I was beginning to have second thoughts. This was a bad idea. My friends, the team… they wouldn’t understand if I turned up tomorrow at school with Miley on my arm. She was the snitch. The girl who went against the Raiders. They wouldn’t just overlook that, and I didn’t want to give them any more ammunition to use against her. Not after what Micah, the fucking idiot, did to her at the party.

She gave me a small wave before making her way over to my car. I leaned over and pushed the door open, and she climbed in.

“Are you sure this is okay?”

“I wouldn’t have offered if I didn’t want to.” It came out harsher than intended and she frowned.

“Is everything okay?”

“No one will understand this,” I said, letting out a frustrated breath.

“This?”

“Yeah. You and me. They won’t get it. Not after what happened.”

“Oh, I see.” Miley folded her hands in her lap and stared down at them. “I didn’t expect it to be easy, but people deserve a second chance, don’t they?”

“Maybe. But my guys, the team… it’s not that simple.” Hell, even I couldn’t forgive what she’d done.

So what the fuck was I doing here? Already imagining the next time I got to kiss her, to touch her and watch her fall apart.

“I don’t know what to say. If I could do things differently, I would.”

“What happened to doing whatever it takes to get to where you want to be?”

Her eyes lifted to mine. “I’m not saying I’d have done everything differently, but I never wanted to hurt you, Avery. You have to believe me.”

I nodded. It was all I could manage. The strange truth was, if Miley had never tried out for the cheer squad, I would never have gotten close to her. So it was only because of that damn exposé that our paths crossed. It
