did it. And with the number of enemies he had, plenty of people had the motive.

“So, then I thought that perhaps I had left my keys at home,” Jim was saying. “And as expected, they were home. I reached the driveway to see Abby standing at the door, holding them up.”

“He always forgets his things,” Abby said with a laugh. “I am used to it by now.”

“Well, I am just glad you guys are doing well,” Kyle said. “Especially you, Abby. I know this pregnancy has been hard.”

“Well, what can one do,” Abby said, laughing. “What about you, Kyle? Are you seeing anyone?”

Kyle looked toward Robin, who raised an eyebrow.

“Perhaps,” he said. “I haven’t talked it out with her yet.”

“Well, if you love her even half as much as I love Abby,” Jim said. “Then don’t let her go.”

“So, what’s next for you, Robin?” Jim asked.

“The Executioner,” she said. “He is still out there. I am going to find him, and he is going to pay for all the people he killed.”

Robin’s mind went over everything she had found recently. The crest belonged to the Blackwell family, and Robin was now free to pursue the case. She planned on going to the town and finding out everything she could about the Executioner’s family. Understanding this man was the key to catching him, Robin knew that now. She had to uncover everything she could about this man. The child who had grown up to be a murderer. Robin had to find everything that she could about him.

“I thought he had disappeared,” Abby said softly.

“He will be back,” she said. “And when he does, I will be ready for him.”

“What are you going to do?” Kyle asked.

“I am going to track down his family,” Robin said. “I have to figure out his past and my past.”

“Robin, don’t do anything drastic,” Abby said. “Please, I need my sister safe.”

“I know,” Robin said. “I know. Don’t worry. I will be careful.”

“Plus, I will be with her every step of the way,” Kyle said. “I will look after her, don’t you worry.”

“Well, I guess I can trust Kyle,” Abby said, laughing. “Even though I can’t trust you, Robin. You always end up getting into trouble.”

Everyone laughed when suddenly Robin’s phone started to ring loudly.

“Excuse me,” she said, leaving the table.

“Hello?” She said, picking it up.

“Did you like my gift?” the voice whispered on the other side.

“Who is this?” She asked, feeling a chill run down her spine.

“I did it for you,” the voice whispered. “It was a gift. Did you like it?”

“What do you want?” Robin hissed.

“Danvers,” the voice said. “It was a gift. You couldn’t get to him, so I got to him for you.”

“Who is this?” Robin said as the dial tone echoed on the other side. He hung up on her!

Suddenly, a memory flashed before her eyes. Her head started to ache and throb, and she felt exhausted. The memory was clear in her mind, and as the events flashed before her eyes, she was frozen with disbelief. It was all finally clear to her. She finally remembered it all. She knew what had happened in the basement and why he wanted revenge.

“Kyle,” she called out. “I will be back in a while.”

Before anyone could say anything, she ran out, determined to somehow get in contact with the killer. She needed to tell him that she remembered it all, that she knew.

It was dark outside; the moon’s light was shining down onto the street. She didn’t know where she was going or what she was going to do; all she knew was that she had to get out.

By the time she heard the footsteps behind her, it was too late. Someone hit her on the back of her head, and a sharp pain ran through her head.

And then, she blacked out.

To be continued.
