I’ve disrupted enough of your night, so I’m going to take off,” he says with an awkward chuckle.

“You don’t need to leave on my account,” Ever tells Jace.

“It’s okay, but if I stay any longer, I’m afraid what else I’ll put my foot in. I should have just turned back around when I found you two going at it on the sofa.”

Ever’s cheeks turn a beetroot color while I cover my mouth to stop from laughing.

“Ever, it was great meeting you. Blake, thanks for the beer. I’ll catch you later.”

And with that, he slinks out of the apartment.

Ever turns to me with an expression that says, I’m not sure what to say.

However, I’m just relieved he’s gone, so we can resume our sexual activities. Taking her by the hand, I pull her to me until she’s straddling my thighs.

“Now that he’s gone…where were we?” I press a lingering kiss to the corner of her mouth, but she pulls her head away.

“Not so fast, lover boy. You know you’ve just ruined my Fourth of July plans.”

“How so?”

“I hate those Fourth of July parties. If Edwin wasn’t my father, I wouldn’t even attend them. My plan was to stay for a little while, and then I’d call you and gate-crash whatever you were doing. But now that you’re going, I’ll have nowhere to escape.”

“Why don’t you like them?” I ask, intrigued.

“It’s just a kiss-ass party to my dad. Plus, imagine a bunch of drunk-ass associates who do everything in their power not to hit on me but leer at me behind my father’s back. And that isn’t just recently either.”

Immediately, I feel anger rearing its ugly head. “Who are these associates?”

“Honestly, I don’t even know. But that was when he used to invite the entire company to these things. Now, he only invites the higher-level associates and partners and their families.”

“And why is that?” I ask, already knowing the answer.

“Because of the drunk-ass associates.”

“Well, that bodes well for me then. I don’t think he’d take it too well with his junior partner defiling his daughter. I’m pretty sure he’s going to kill me.”

She snorts. “Defiling?”

“That’s the bit you’re going to focus on? Not that your dad will one hundred percent kill me for being with you?”

“Yes, my dad is pretty protective of me, but you’re more than a drunk-ass associate.”

“You know that. I know that. But he doesn’t. He’d just assume I took advantage of you when, really, it was the other way around.”

She scoffs, smiling, “How did I take advantage of you?”

“By using your sexuality to lure me in at Happy Hours that night.”

“And how exactly did I do that?”

“Just by being there. I would have gone home alone if you hadn’t caught my attention by being the most gorgeous woman I’d ever laid eyes on.”

“You know what they say about flattery, don’t you?”

“That it’ll get me everywhere?” I grin, caressing her thighs.

“No…but luckily, I like you. Plus, we don’t have to worry about my Dad.”

“How do you figure?”

“It isn’t like we’re going to tell him. There’s no point. I’m going to Harvard in August. Though it’s going to be hard to keep my hands off you at the party.”

The mention of her attending Harvard feels like a boulder hitting my stomach, but I push it aside. I do smile at the thought of Ever being sexually frustrated at this party though. To have her hot, needy, and desperate is already turning me on.

“Yeah, that will be tough, but until then”—my fingers trace the button edges of the shirt she is wearing, and I begin to undo each button, slowly revealing her perfect tits—“we can do all the touching we want.”

“Hmm, that is true,” Ever says as I lean my mouth to her breast and blow over her nipple, making it harden even more. She hums a moan and pivots her hips over mine, waking my cock up.

“Now,” I begin, pressing a subtle kiss along her bare boob before glancing up at her, “do you think I can fuck you without any more interruptions?”

Ever brushes her fingers through my hair and pulls just enough to tilt my head up to look at her. “Yes, please,” she almost begs, crashing her lips onto mine.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Jensen.”

I lift my head at the sound of Ever’s voice as she enters my office, and even though I saw her several times this morning, my heart still skips a beat at the sight of her. She looks incredible in a form-fitting dress, high heels, and a glorious, messy bun. It seems the hotter the temperatures rise, the more she wears her hair up. I asked her why, and she explained that her thick, wavy hair just makes her neck sweat. She absolutely lives for any air-conditioned buildings and despises being hot.

“Good afternoon, Miss Sullivan.”

Smiling with a flirtatious glint in her eyes, she approaches with a file in her hand. “I have the transcript from this morning’s court hearing.”

She offers it to me, and I take it.

“Thank you.”

I set it down beside me, never once taking my eyes away from her. “How was your lunch?” I ask her.

Every Friday, she heads out for lunch with the first-year associates.

“Actually, I skipped it this week. I decided to go shopping instead.” The way she tilts her head and licks her lips tells me she bought something naughty.

Please be lingerie. Please be lingerie.

“Did you buy anything nice?”

“Depends on what you mean by nice.”

She does a quick check outside my office, and when she sees that the corridor is empty, she rounds to my side of the desk and holds her phone out to me, which miraculously appeared from nowhere. I glance down at the picture, and instantly, my pants become tighter.

Holy fuck.

It’s not lingerie, but it might as well be.

It’s a selfie in front of a changing room mirror, and she’s wearing this hot-as-hell floral bikini. The top is low-cut and frilly, and the bottoms are the kind that tie at the hip.

“What do you think?”

I
