there, in the lines around his eyes, the set of his jaw, the tilt of his mouth.

BetaTestAccount23: Hi Willa

Her phone chimed and he stared at her, a tentative smile pulling at the corner of his mouth. She held her breath, wondering if this was even real, or if this was just a terribly vivid and cruel dream. She raised her eyebrows, her gaze meeting his as all of the hope she’d tried to get rid of bloomed again, like a weed that just wouldn’t die.

FreshPrincessOfChelsea: Hi Max

His phone buzzed again and butterflies burst through her stomach. He pushed off of the wall and took a step toward her.

“Hi, Princess,” he said, and she went weak, her phone slipping from her hands and falling to the ground. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, to be disappointed or overjoyed. Max was Mr. 23. All this time, she’d been talking to Max. Connecting with Max. Falling even more for Max. Because if she’d been halfway in love with him before, after spending weeks talking to him—now that she knew it was him—she was there now.

But she didn’t have time to process it all because he’d moved into her space, his hands sliding around her waist as he backed her into the wall. The scent of him, the feel of his hands on her dissolved all the walls she’d put up, leaving only one simple truth.

She would always want Max because she was in love with him.

She curled her fingers around his tie as he lowered his head toward hers, one of his hands moving from her waist to her face, his thumb tracing across her cheekbone.

“Tell me to stop,” he said, his breath fanning over her tingling lips.

“We both know I won’t, even if I should.”

“That’s what terrifies me.” And then his mouth was on hers, a hot open-mouthed kiss that had her body melting into his. He moaned against her mouth, a gruff, masculine sound that had her toes curling in her shoes, and he deepened the kiss, his tongue sliding against hers. She whimpered and rolled her hips against him, need and lust and desire exploding through her with the subtlety of dynamite.

He sucked her bottom lip, teasing it before taking her mouth again in a deep, hot kiss. He dropped his hand from her face to her collarbone and then lower, skimming his knuckles over her tightly beaded nipple. She gasped, arching into his touch, her entire body molten with how much she wanted him. She wrapped her fingers around his biceps, thrilling at the hard muscle flexing beneath her touch.

“I can’t believe it’s you,” he murmured against her mouth, dropping his hands to her hips and pulling her tight against him. She could feel him, thick and hard for her. “I wanted it to be you.”

Heat radiated through her chest as he kissed her again, and she slid her hands up his arms, over his shoulders and into his hair, weaving her fingers into the thick curls. God, how had she gone without this for two whole months? Without the perfection of Max’s mouth on hers, his hands on her body, his scent and size enveloping her?

With his hands still on her hips, he slipped his thick thigh between her legs and she ground herself against him, trying to alleviate the throbbing ache coming from her clit. But the friction only ramped up her arousal even more and she broke the kiss, biting her lip to hold back the moan trying to break free.

He worked her against his thigh, guiding her with his hands on her hips as he buried his face in her neck, kissing and sucking at the heated skin there.

“I never thought it might be you. I was…unnnnnnffffffff,” she panted as he grazed his teeth over her earlobe. “I was trying to get over you.”

He lifted his head, his pupils blown with lust, darkening his blue eyes. “Were you successful?”

She shook her head slowly and he smiled, closing one hand over her breast. She sucked in a shuddery breath, trying to think. Trying to process. Trying to find words that were buried somewhere deep in her brain.

“I was not,” she managed, squirming at the way Max’s skilled fingers worked her nipple. “I failed.” She dropped her hands to his belt and hooked her leg around his hips, pressing her pussy against his hard cock. “Miserably.”

He made a sound halfway between a moan and a growl and kissed her again, his hands roving over her body from her breasts to her hips and then back to her face, holding her in place as he kissed her, slow and deep. The taste of him flooded her, obliterating everything except her need for him.

He pulled away, his chest heaving as he gulped down air, and he tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, his fingertips leaving a tingling warmth in their wake. “I don’t know how to stay away from you,” he said, his voice raw.

She bit her lip and gazed up at him, her heart beating hard and fast in her chest. “I don’t think you’re supposed to,” she said softly. His features were tight with longing, his brow furrowed, his eyes bright. “I should be angry right now. I should be hurt and disappointed. But I’m not. Because I don’t think we’re supposed to stay away from each other.”

“Willa,” he moaned and then dipped his head, kissing her again, slowly, like he was savoring every single slide of his tongue against hers. She traced her fingers over his taut stomach, seeking out the ridges and valleys covered in a layer of soft cotton.

The elevator jerked and shuddered and then began slowly descending. The jolt was enough to bring her back to reality and panic started to spiral through her. This was the part where he’d push her away again, wasn’t it? Where he’d reject her because this was nothing but a game to him, and she was nothing but a toy.

He lowered her
