“Well, maybe he should come out to LA,” Matteo says and then laughs. “God, I’m such a creep. I haven’t even met him yet, and I’m already thinking about him. I guess my loneliness is really showing.”
Bentley puts his hand on Matteo’s arm. “You’re lonely?”
“Yeah. Unfortunately, my last relationship ended, and I haven’t exactly been able to get back on my feet as far as the dating pool is concerned.”
“But you’re handsome, and there’s a lot of people in Los Angeles. I’m sure you could find somebody good if you just tried.”
Matteo smiles. “You’re right. I haven’t actually tried. It’s just hard to get back out there after you’ve been away from it for so long.”
“Oh yeah, I’m sure it is. I don’t know if Finn would be the right guy for you. He doesn’t know much about Daddy kink, and I expect he’ll be nursing a broken heart for a while. His dad means everything to him.”
“I can definitely understand that.” Matteo was close to his own father before he passed away.
“Are you close with your father?” Bentley asks me.
“Um, we get along. I don’t know if I would say we’re close, but we do all right.”
“You?” Matteo asks Bentley.
“My parents are okay. They’re kind of old-fashioned, and they’d rather have me living there, but I don’t want to live back in Ohio, for sure. Now that I’ve had a taste of the big city life.”
We all laugh.
“You’re definitely too big and vibrant for Ohio.” I lift his hand and kiss it. “Besides, I’m never letting you leave.”
Bentley smiles as his cheeks turn pink. “I hope you really mean that, Legend.”
“I don’t say things I don’t mean, Bentley.”
“I can attest to that,” Matteo says. “One thing you can always count on from Legend is pure honesty.”
“I think I already knew that about him,” Bentley says, his eyes warming me from head to toe.
“Okay.” I clap my hands. “What else do we need to figure out today?”
“I need a name for my production company,” Bentley says. “I just can’t think of anything.”
“We don’t have to come up with anything right away. We can think about it for a while.”
“I suppose that’s true. I’m interested in figuring this out though.”
“We will. No rushing. We’ve got plenty of time.”
Nodding, Bentley smiles. “We do.”
“What do you say we grab some dinner and find a great movie to watch? Matteo is going to leave early in the morning.”
“Can I make dinner?” Bentley asks, bouncing on the couch.
And just like that my sweet boy is back. “Sure, you can make dinner.”
“Awesome.” He glides off the couch and into the kitchen.
“Man, I wish I had his energy,” Matteo says.
I laugh. “Yeah, me too. He makes me feel young and old at the same time.”
“How does he make you feel old?”
“Well, let’s see, we fuck for hours, and then five minutes later, he’s hard again and wants to do more.”
Matteo laughs. “Ah. I can see how that might mess with you a little bit.”
“I mean, I’ve got a lot of stamina for a guy my age, but Bentley definitely puts it to the test.”
“Don’t complain.”
I laugh, nudging my friend’s arm. “I’m definitely not complaining. I’m happier than I’ve been in a long time.”
“I can tell. Shows on your face. Man, if I’d known that little twink was fucking with you as much as he was, I would have, I don’t know, maybe I would have intervened or something.”
“That’s the kind of bullshit you have to deal with yourself, isn’t it? You could have tried to tell me, but at the end of the day, that was my fuckup.”
“I suppose. And hey, maybe you wouldn’t have met Bentley if you hadn’t gone through all that.”
“I for sure wouldn’t have. I wouldn’t have been at that convention that day if it hadn’t been for the redirection of my career all of a sudden.”
“Everything happens for a reason, right?”
“That’s what they say. I’ve never believed in that before, but now, meeting Bentley, I’m starting to think it’s true. He’s given me a whole new perspective on things. He’s even got me wondering if I’m ready to get back in front of the camera.”
Matteo’s eyes widen. “No way. What did he do to you?”
I laugh. “He just...he believes in me. Like I’m a superhero or some shit, and that the whole world is just patiently waiting for me to step back into the spotlight. It kind of feels true whenever he says it.”
“Maybe it is true. He was a fan before he was anything, right?”
“Yeah, exactly. He was a fan.”
“He’s the one who’s been reading social media and paying attention to the industry. He might be right.”
“I’ve considered that. I miss it. I’m not gonna lie. Sometimes, I dream about performing again. Part of me wants to prove that I still have what it takes.”
“Of course you still have what it takes. It hasn’t even been a year yet. Quit acting like it’s been twenty years and you’re eighty fucking years old.”
I laugh. “Okay, that’s fair.”
“For fuck’s sake, Legend, you were a rock star in your industry.”
I frown. “And then I wasn’t.”
“People’s memories are short-lived. You know that. Look how much shit celebrities in Hollywood get away with and then ten minutes later they’re winning an Oscar for something.”
“I suppose you’re right.”
“I think you just took it harder because you had feelings for Arian. Bentley came into your life to show you that you’re just sitting around being a baby for no reason.”
“A baby?”
Matteo laughs. “Yeah, a baby. If the binky fits.”
“I resent that.” I grin to show I’m joking.
Matteo puts his arm around me, holding me close. “You know that everything I say to you is out of pure love.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“Hey, I didn’t have what it takes to make you believe in yourself, but if Bentley does, I’m all fucking for it, man. You’re too young to give up everything
