Exploding through the gate to give chase were several Dragonfire mechs and an increasing number of guardswomen in power armor and more Shock Knights in their golden armor. They were all firing on the CyberKnights and their space demons. As before, the armor of the Shock Knights and other guardswomen turned black to camouflage themselves here in space.
“Go back!” I shouted over comms and waved frantically. “Everyone back through the Chaos Gate! Push the demon army back through the portal! I’ll handle things on this side!”
Captain Theia replied, “We must protect you, my king! We go where you go! It’s our duty!”
I grunted in frustration. So much for my plan to draw fire away from them. At least I had drawn the demon horde away from the outpost.
“No!” I shouted. “That’s an order! A command! A royal decree! Everyone back through they Chaos Gate! They want me! Not you! Get your asses back to Zalaxia! I’ll take care of this!”
I spun around to check my proximity to the tetrahedral planetoid. I was fast approaching. From its surface, a swarm of demons started flying over the walls of the three visible castles — the black, the red, and the white — and they were heading toward me, and by default, my guardswomen.
“Get back!” I barked over comms. “Everyone back through the gate! Now! Move it! I’ll handle things here! You all keep pushing the demon army back from the outpost and through the gate to here! But keep the white CyberKnight back on Zalaxia as long as you can! He’s my insurance policy while I think of something!”
Beyond that, I didn’t have even a sliver of a plan.
And there it was.
The truth was out.
This risky mission of mine had never been thought through.
There hadn’t been time.
Time.
Again, I tried to slow time with my True Ring.

—: Chapter 37 :—
With a second swarm of demons hurtling toward me from the red, black, and white castles on the eerie tetrahedral planetoid, and the other batch flying up my ass from the direction of the Chaos Gate, my best choice was to avoid everyone and draw them away from the gate.
I added a huge accelerative POSITION vector to myself. Its diameter was as big around as me. I went shooting away from the point of the tetrahedron and headed out over its triangular red face. Guess I was going around to see the back side after all.
Oddly, despite the intense acceleration that left everyone in my space dust, I didn’t feel any noticeable force of acceleration dragging down on my body as I gained altitude above the red triangular surface. It was almost as if every atom in my body was being uniformly transitioned through space, thanks to my ring-vectoring. There wasn’t that sense of being pushed into my seat like in a car or plane or spaceship like the Artemis, nor was there the opposite sensation of being pulled out of my seat like on a roller coaster or tower drop. Moreover, my blood wasn’t pooling in my legs or rushing to my head, and my heart wasn’t struggling from the effort. I was accelerating without any discomfort. That was a relief. I already had enough stressors weighing down on me at the moment.
As I passed over the red triangular plane of the pyramidal planetoid, I saw a crimson countryside far below. Far behind, the demons rising up from the red castle and chasing me were red specks against the black backdrop of space.
“Crown to Captain Theia!” I called over comms. “Can you hear me?”
“Theia to Crown! Yes, my king! I hear you, but I’ve lost visual contact!”
“I’m flying ahead! Don’t worry about me! You should be back on Zalaxia! Go through the Chaos Gate with everyone else! While you still can!”
“I won’t leave you, my king!”
I grimaced in frustration. “What about the other guardswomen?! Have they left?!”
“They’ve gone through the Fold Point to Zalaxia, as you ordered!”
“And the Dragonfires?!”
“Air Guard is gone too!”
“All of them?!”
“Every mech!”
“Are you the only one left?!” I blurted in disbelief.
“Yes, my king!”
“Go back, Theia! Get your ass through that gate! I’ll take care of things here!”
“Begging your pardon, my king, not until I get you home first! I’m sorry! It’s my duty! You can execute me after we return safely to Zalaxia!”
Her sense of duty was frustrating me to no end, but I could respect it and greatly appreciated it. Not wanting to argue, I said, “Any sign of the white CyberKnight on this side of the gate?!”
“No, my king! I haven’t seen him fly through!”
“What about his white demons?”
“A number have flown through and are chasing after you! But I think some remain on Zalaxia!”
“Hopefully everyone at the outpost will take care of the rest. Where are you?!”
“Near the Fold Gate waiting for you, my king!”
“Great, thanks!”
“If you give me your position, I can join you!”
“No way! Stay near that gate!”
“If I must.”
“Question for you, Captain?!”
“Yes, my king?”
“Do you recognize any of the visible constellations around us?!”
“Not readily. Let me check my onboard star charts! One second!” After a short delay, she said, “No, my king! Nothing here matches my charts!”
“Do you have any idea where we are in the universe?!”
“No, my king! I don’t even know what galaxy this is!”
“If that gate closes, we’re stuck here, aren’t we?!”
“Yes, my king!” Theia said with no
