She finally stated.
“About what?”
Georgia sat down on the couch, wrapping a duvet around her shoulders as she finished off the last of her tea. Keliah continued to ramble through the cabinets, picking up random cups before placing them back down as she spoke. She told Georgia about the situation between her, Meredith, and Gabrielle. How frustrating it was to always play the devil’s advocate. How she wanted everything to be resolved, but she was beginning to like the friendship Meredith and her had made and preferred it without Gabrielle because Gabrielle had become a loose end that Keliah was afraid she couldn’t tie. By the time Keliah was finished venting, she had six tea mugs spread out on the counter and was pouring coffee in all of them.
“That coffee was for you. Now I’m going to have to go grocery shopping again.”
Georgia smiled at Keliah who sighed heavily with small tug of the lips.
“Sorry.”
Georgia waved a hand of dismissal in the air before rising from the couch and walking towards Keliah. She placed her hands on her small shoulders.
“I understand how you are feeling, but you would never want to defy someone’s love for someone because it may or may not change things for you. I mean, imagine someone doing that with us.”
“It’s different!”
Keliah whined.
“You didn’t put your job before me, or because someone told you some people won’t support you because of your sexuality.”
Georgia winced, she could see the younger girl was incredibly upset and she wanted to do everything in her power to soothe her, but she needed to discuss an important matter.
“That reminds me of something.”
Keliah paused and looked at Georgia with a confused expression.
“An old colleague of mine is coming into town. She divorced her husband and she needed a place to stay and get herself together.”
“For how long?”
“I can’t put an exact date on it.”
“Fucking excellent. So, what now? I am forbidden to come over?”
“Keliah.”
Georgia grabbed Keliah by the arm and pulled her in a tight embrace, pressing her lips against her temple.
“You are always welcomed here, you know that. But, maybe you should wait a week or two before you come over.”
“Why don’t we just start right now.”
Keliah slipped her feet into some boots at the door before grabbing Georgia’s keys.
“Keliah!”
Georgia yelled just before the door slammed shut. She sighed heavily and combed her hair with her fingers, sitting back down on the couch. There was no need to run after her. Georgia knew Keliah got volatile when she was stressed, as did any college student her age, and it was best to let her cool down alone before trying to talk to her. Georgia was kind of upset that she took her truck back on campus because that could raise several questions, but it was Keliah who would have to answer why she drove a car licensed GEORGIAGRL.
