“Yeah, we can not do that. I don’t need my dick turning into a pussy,” I chuckle.
“Eww, thanks for the visual,” Lillian grumbles and goes back to finishing up breakfast. “So today being Sunday, I normally go help Enya at the bookstore when she opens at noon. She never takes a day off and is gonna run herself ragged if she doesn’t find a balance soon. It’s another reason Zoe is working there to help out.”
“Why does she work so much?” I ask, furrowing my brows as Lillian places a plate in front of me.
“That I can’t say. It’s not my place, but if you don’t need me here, I need to go get ready, so I can go help her,” Lillian mutters.
“Actually, do you mind watching out for Ry? I need to go handle a few things today, and I don’t wanna take him with me when I do so,” I mutter between bites.
“Ugh, yeah, I suppose. I mean, I guess if you’re gonna go bump uglies with my friend, you wouldn’t want your son there to witness,” Lillian chuckles.
Lifting my gaze, I glare at her.
“What? You don’t think I didn’t take notice of the fact you’re the reason Enya left last night. Think again, boss man. Zoe mentioned it to me after we left you all that it was you, or your friend, Enya slept with two months ago. And FYI, dude, Enya isn’t one for sleeping around, so I suggest if that’s where you’re gonna go, you think long and hard about what you’re gonna do. Oh, and if you hurt my friend, I’ll be pissed.”
I swear sometimes Lillian can be a pain in the ass, but she’s a damn good nanny to Ry.
Nodding, I don’t speak another word while I contemplate what information Lillian has given me about Enya. Then Dean’s words pop into my head from a night we’d been playing poker, and Marc made a comment about them being pussy whipped. “It’s not pussy whipped when the pussy you’re taking is the only one you want, and your soul is connected to that person.”
Fuck me, if in one night mine’s become entangled with Enya’s then I’m not sure if I should be pissed about this or not.
Chapter 5
Enya
Waking up this morning, I felt no better about seeing Kenyon last night. I’d barely slept, tossing and turning. My thoughts kept going back to ones of the night I spent with him here in this bed for hours on end after we’d finally made it to the bed.
Glancing around the bookstore, I sigh, debating on where to start. Sunday mornings I use the time before opening at noon to go through the inventory and see what all needs to be ordered the next day. Zoe will handle the coffee counter when she comes in and let me know what’s needed. I handle everything else. Lillian tries to come in on Sundays to help run the store while I do paperwork.
Deciding to go ahead and get a little bit of paperwork done before either of them get in, I round the counter for the check-out. Taking a seat on the stool, I do my best to keep my thoughts from going down the path of all things Kenyon. My body already throbs for him and I don’t understand it.
A banging on the door jerks me out of my thoughts and I take in the time. What in the world? I’d been zoned out for a good thirty minutes straight. I lift my gaze to the door as I stand to head over to it and suck in a breath at who’s standing there, looking all broody-like.
Kenyon.
Great, this is just what I need this morning.
“Open the door, Enya,” he orders, placing his hands on his hips looking fierce.
What would he want now?
To humiliate me, maybe?
Ugh.
Slowly, I make my way to the door, and with shaky hands, I unlock the deadbolt. Kenyon pushes the door open, the little bell chimes as he steps into my space.
“What are you doing here?” I rasp, unable to barely speak.
“To make sure you’re fuckin’ okay. Do you have any idea what could have happened to you last night?” he growls, causing me to take a step back at the harsh tone.
“Pardon?” I mutter, confused by his question.
“You left your friends at the club last night. Fuck, you left by yourself. How much of an idiot do you have to be?” he snarls, his body growing taut.
Oh no he didn’t.
“I’m not an idiot and I don’t have to answer to you. You can leave now,” I snap, stiffening to stand my ground. I might seem like a weakling and such, but that doesn’t mean I won’t stand up for myself when need be.
“What you did was unsafe, anything could have happened to you, and your friends would never have known,” he grinds out, stepping into my space once again.
“You need to leave,” I whisper, lowering my head due to the guilt he’s making me feel for leaving Lillian and Zoe last night.
“No, I’m not fuckin’ leaving,” he growls, wrapping his arm around my waist, hauling me even closer to him than I already was.
“Why? Isn’t that what you do? Leave without so much as a goodbye, thanks for the orgasms,” I blurt out without meaning too.
God knows why I said that out loud is beyond me. I shouldn’t have let that slip. I hold back the flinch, thinking he’d want to slap me for my comment. It’s what my stepfather would have done.
One of Kenyon’s hands slides into my hair, wrapping his fingers through the strands until he gets the grip he wants, and tilts my head back. He makes a sound in the back of his throat as his mouth slams down on mine. I gasp in surprise, and he takes that as an invitation and slips inside. His tongue swirls and dances with
