As the guards led me down the street, a dumb grin spread across my face. For the first time since I arrived outside the walls of Yoria, I had a clear purpose. Even though I was walking towards a fate certain to be full of suffering and turmoil, I had a goal now. There is one thing in this world worth protecting. I watched Lia shuffling along meekly in front of me, half obscured by a guard. No matter what happens, I’m going to protect her. I pulled Lia into this alongside me, and I’m going to bring her out. No matter the cost.
“I’ll do it for you, Amaya.”

Author’s Note
I never in a million years would have thought I would be sitting here writing an author’s note for the end of a book I wrote, but here we are. If you’re reading this, I’d like to sincerely thank you for reading this novel. Writing has always been a hobby of mine, but it was something I kept to myself or shared with a few close friends. It’s a bit frightening to be putting the finishing touches on this project that’ll soon be released for anyone and everyone to read and criticize, but I had a lot of fun writing this, so I think it’s time I put myself out there a bit!
With that being said, I hope you enjoyed the preceding pages. If you’re wondering what’s next for Lia and Lux, don’t worry! Book two is already well under way. Things are just getting started, and I plan on writing this story out to the very end. Whether you stick around or not is up to you, but I hope you’ll stay along on this journey with me. As I’m just a hobbyist with a full-time job, I can’t promise that the books will come at any sort of reasonable pace, but believe me when I say I’m always working on it in one way or another.
I’d like to indulge myself for a moment and thank a few people who were instrumental to this whole project happening. Sam, thanks for keeping me going when the book was still in its infancy, and a full book was just a ridiculous dream. Maria, thank you for taking the time to edit my work, and for teaching me how to be a semi-competent writer (I hope!). Don and Trevor, the feedback you gave helped to encourage me to pursue actually publishing my work. Kyle, thanks for lending me your artistic talents to make everything look presentable and book-like. This one's for all of you!
Anyways, I’ll put a cap on the rambling for now. If you liked what you read, keep your eyes peeled for Volume Two, coming out just as soon as it’s finished! Thanks again for reading.
~Adam
