"Each party leader will tag their party members with one of these," the dwarf said. and produced a small piece of paper.
Item: Dark Energy Delay Adhesive
Type: Consumable - Minor Scroll
Durability : 10/10
Grade: E Grade
Weight: 1st.
Description: This minuscule scroll serves as an interruption to the translation flow of information between the Dark Energy and scanning skills. Once attached to an individual or item, the information displayed will appear with a delay of forty-eight hours. After this time has passed, or when the adhesive scroll is removed, the information shown will become current again.
"So they will continue to appear as level zero and react as if they're nameless, but they'll essentially be sleeper agents?" Neleth asked.
"Yes. At least most of them," Yalfrigg confirmed. "We will need to keep some without any glamours on them so that when the time comes, we'll find certain doors open for us."
"And others will get glamours with more specific instructions," Yvonne added.
"Are we ready then?" Gardun asked.
"Neleth, you make a party with the twins, Gardun, Sith, Menos, and the berserker," ordered Yalfrigg. "The rest of you join my party."
Alexander received the party notification and accepted it immediately.
Neleth Ienemiah has invited you to a party.
Party Members: 6/9
Party Leader: Neleth Ienemiah
Do you accept the invitation? Yes No
Looking at the party members, Alexander realized he'd never scanned two of his allies, namely the elephantaur and the naga. The elephantaur was holding a gigantic double axe in one hand and a tower shield in the other, while his long tusks were embellished with a multitude of rings. The naga on the other hand looked slim and dexterous, a longbow hanging on her back.
Name: Menos Ga
Race: Elephantaur
Class: Mastodon Templar
Level: 33
Name: Sith Ragit
Race: Naga
Class: Ophis Sentinel
Level: 31
Taking note of their classes, Alexander was satisfied that their party had almost everything it needed to complete its task--or at least as far as non-spellcasting classes were concerned. Zadicus, the male vampire, and Menos would be able to tank and provoke the monsters in case they managed to flee.
Neleth and Yvonne were both experts in sneaking and would scout ahead of them, while Sith could take down any enemy, or friend, that would potentially spot them and risk the operation.
This left Gardun and Alexander, who would act as the damage dealers of the party, weakening the monsters if needed, taking down the stronger ones and any other threat that might present itself.
"Let's move," Yalfrigg said and stood up. "Disperse."
The two parties moved through the camp silently, not spreading out too thin but keeping a safe distance from each other so as not to attract any attention. A few heads turned to look at them, some even nodded at Yalfrigg or Alexander, but none minded them any longer than the few seconds it took for them to disappear into the dark again.
Once the majority of the two parties had reached the outer edges of the encampment, they regrouped and started walking as one big team. The red light from the moon above was the only illumination on the nameless barn, a couple thousand feet away from their position.
The warriors whose inheritance had gifted them with night vision or dark vision, such as the vampires and the naga, moved ahead of the rest of the group, leading everyone to their destination. The path was straight forward and the traps were easy to avoid if one could see in the darkness. However, the party had not accounted for the surprise patrol they encountered on their way there.
"What the fuck is this, Yalfrigg?" Neleth asked, as they all struggled to hide behind the low hill they were just starting to climb. "You didn't tell us anything about patrols."
"I didn't know of any," the dwarf said and bit his lip, seeming to consider their next move.
"What do we do?" Sith asked, as the two-man patrol began moving toward them.
"We take them out," Zadicus said, and his eyes flashed briefly.
"We can't kill them," Yalfrigg commanded, "or it'll reach the dominus. By the bastard Loki, where did your sister go?"
"Who goes there?" a male voice shouted, its origin caught them off guard.
It wasn't from one of the men in front of them but rather from behind them. They were surrounded. The first one to react was Zadicus, who launched himself toward the new patrol.
"Marko, is that you?" said one of the guards ahead of them, who hadn't yet seen them.
Before anyone else had a chance to even unsheathe their weapons, the vampire evaded Marko's sword-strike by briefly shifting his form to a green mist and reappearing in front of him, so close that their noses were almost touching.
"Why you vampire fuck," said the second guard from the patrol behind them, but out of nowhere a small bat landed in front of him, swiftly shifting to take the form of Yvonne.
The vampire sister stared at the second guard, both of their eyes flashing purple, as her brother did the same to Marko.
"It's done," Yvonne said and left to join the rest of the crew in hiding.
"Yeah, it's me," Marko replied to the other guard's question, the purple in his eyes slowly fading.
"You guys okay over there?" the voice asked again.
"Yeah, wait for us there," Marko said again. "We're coming down."
The two guards walked past the hidden warriors, not paying them any heed, and headed down the hill to join their fellow patrol soldiers.
"Is this safe?" Neleth asked. "Will they remember seeing us when the glamour wears off?"
"That wasn't a glamour," Yvonne replied. "We altered their short-term memory. They'll fill in the gaps of this one minute with whatever seems plausible to their logical mind in order to exclude us."
"We're safe, elf," her brother agreed.
"And are there going to be any more surprises, Yalfrigg?" Neleth asked mockingly.
"Shut the fuck up, Neleth," Gardun retorted. "Enough with your bitching. Let's just get going."
The group waited until the two patrols had distanced themselves
