baby. Because you’re here. You’re with me, and I can survive anything with you by my side.”

Chapter 21

Hayes

“Have you ever joined the Mile High Club?” I lean over and whisper in Waverly’s ear as the flight attendant goes over the emergency protocol.

We’re on the plane, about to take off for Aruba, but all I can focus on is the woman sitting beside me in a purple sundress. If the plane has to land unexpectedly, I’ll be counting on my wife to save me because I haven’t been listening to a word the flight attendant is saying. We’re on a private flight too, so I’m not sure what the point of her spiel is—maybe she’s new. All I know is the woman sitting to my left is far more interesting than what the woman standing in front of us has to say.

“No, I have not, Mr. Weston, and I’m not about to do that on this flight. You’re just going to have to keep it in your pants until we get to Aruba. Besides, I’m exhausted. You kept me up all night.”

It’s true. I did. I fucked that woman within an inch of her life last night. Don’t worry, I gave her some soft lovin’ too, but after not having her for almost a week, and barely at all before that, I was getting my fix. Waverly just makes everything better, including the beat of my heart and the softening of my balls. Hayes has blue balls no more.

Better than partaking in mind-blowing sex with the woman I love is feeling like I can breathe again, knowing we’re back on solid ground. In between rounds of sex, we talked more about what happened between us and promised not to let a miscommunication blow up like that ever again. I mentioned couple’s counseling to her too, particularly after discovering what it did for my parents, knowing that I would do anything to show her how serious I am about making this marriage last. And she agreed that maybe it could help us. We’re okay for the time being, but this serious relationship business is something that both of us don’t have a shit-ton of experience with, and it would be beneficial to have some added skills for future reference.

“Then you’d better get some sleep because as soon as we get to that room, I’m gonna have you screaming my name again, Mrs. Weston.”

I catch the glint in her eye when she turns to face me. “Who says it won’t be the other way around?” With a lift of her brow, my cock rises to attention just as the flight attendant commands we fasten our seatbelts.

“You know, this flight would be much more enjoyable if I didn’t have to listen to the two of you talk dirty to each other the entire time.”

I twist in my seat as best I can to find Wes poking his head through the chairs. “Better put some earplugs in then, man.”

“Look, I’m glad you made up, and seeing my sister happy again is exactly what I wanted. But as far as I’m concerned, you two have a sexless marriage, alright? I will always pretend that you’re celibate because Hayes… that’s my little sister.” He points at Waverly while glaring at me as Shayla grabs his chin and makes him face her.

“Leave them alone. They’re in love. You should be happy. I swear you were more worried about the two of them making up than I was.”

That catches my attention. “Oh, really? ‘Cause Wes told me that you were at home crying about our fight.”

Shayla’s jaw drops. “Wes! Tell them the truth!” She shoves his shoulder as he smirks.

“Shayla wasn’t crying, but we were both worried, okay?” he confesses. “It was heartbreaking for us to watch you go through something that we could understand. Fighting sucks. Not having a chance to make things right sucks. But I’m glad you two pulled your heads out of your asses.” They share a look, one of reverence, and then my best friend leans in and kisses his bride-to-be. “Just behave this weekend because now it’s about us. I get to marry this phenomenal woman in two days, and I can’t wait.”

“I’m so excited,” Waverly interrupts. “This wedding is going to be beautiful, and taking this trip is just what we all need, I think. And I swear the celebration will be all about you. Hayes will even be on his best behavior.”

“Who’s saying I’m the one you have to keep an eye on? We all know Chloe is the one that can go rogue at any moment,” I retort.

“Excuse me?” Chloe pipes up from the other side of the plane, lifting an earbud out of her ear. “I’m on maid of honor duty, Hayes. I’m offended that you think I wouldn’t take that job seriously.”

“Maybe that’s because you haven’t seen Silas yet?” Waverly teases, but Chloe just rolls her eyes.

With a shrug of her shoulder, she says, “Silas, who?”

“Oh, don’t act like you don’t want to ride our friend, the Italian Stallion.” A pink tint appears on her cheeks. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen Chloe blush.

“Who wouldn’t want to ride that man on a beach with the sun setting in the background? But I’ve moved on. He had his chance, and he blew it.”

“Does he know that?” Wes asks. And at that moment, I think the same thought is going through our minds—Silas is fighting his attraction to Chloe, but we both think he’s closer to giving in than he wants to be.

“Doesn’t matter. I’m on a new mission. Have hot vacation sex with a stranger,” she states proudly as we all share a look.

If I had a new bet to make, it’s that Chloe and Silas are doing the horizontal mambo by the night of the wedding.

The wedding goes off without a hitch, each of us remembering where to stand and what to do as we watch my
