It had been two weeks now since the two of them had spent some time alone together that very first time. Since then, they’d enjoyed Sam together on multiple occasions, but never again alone with just the two of them.
But Lily knew it would happen again. More than that, she knew it would happen regularly from now on – maybe just once every couple of weeks, or even just once a week, but definitely regularly. Not to mention, now that she had her implants in again, which she knew Freya liked a lot, she was almost surprised this hadn’t happened a second time sooner.
But it appeared the time had come.
At least, that’s what Lily assumed her being told to wait in the bedroom meant.
Her breath halted in her chest when the door opened and Freya crept inside quietly, a mischievous grin on her face, with one hand behind her back. Lily closed her eyes to take a few deep breaths, preparing herself mentally for what they were about to do, only to flinch when Freya leaned forward and kissed her for a long few seconds on the temple.
Lily took another few breaths with her eyes still closed, trying to control her heart rate, as she wondered if she should just lay down now so Freya could get the biting part over. However, then Freya sat beside her on the bed, wrapped her arm around Lily’s heated shoulders, and rested something on top of her clasped hands.
Lily looked down in surprise, focusing on the small pink box with a red ribbon and bow.
“What’s this?” she asked, completely confused.
“You forgot that tomorrow is our friendiversary?” Freya asked playfully.
“Oh, crap. I’m so sorry Freya.”
She shook her head, grinning widely. “I knew it probably wasn’t on your mind, and this way I get to really surprise you.”
“Yeah, I’d say,” Lily agreed, smiling at her as she opened the box. “But you know, technically we were friends before you officially asked if we could be friends.”
Freya rolled her eyes. “Oh, I know. But it’s difficult to determine exactly when we became friends. After all, you were only fourteen when we met.”
“Creeper,” Lily teased.
Freya scowled playfully at her. “You know that me being obsessed with someone doesn’t necessarily mean I’m romantically or sexually attracted to them. Plus, you’re a girl. I was honestly surprised the day, years later, when I realized I loved you in that way.”
Lily smiled slightly as she revealed her gift. A pair of pink sapphire earrings that matched her engagement necklace perfectly, the stones a vibrant purple. Her smile widened.
“I love them,” she whispered.
Freya kissed her on the cheek, holding Lily snugly against her. “I know you were always hesitant to get your ears pierced, since your superpower could melt most jewelry anyway, and you didn’t think you’d want to keep earrings in your ears often enough to prevent them from eventually closing up. Not to mention the stress of just knowing you could accidentally melt them. But I figured that since you seem to have a much higher pain tolerance now, that you might be okay with trying them out.” She paused. “The only problem is you’ll still have the same issue of the holes closing up, and it’ll happen a lot faster now.”
Lily nodded. “But it shouldn’t hurt as much. Definitely not as much as you biting me.”
“Sorry,” Freya whispered, sounding sincere.
Lily shook her head, leaning more into her. “No, it’s alright. I’ve pretty much accepted that it’s going to be a regular part of our lives now.”
She didn’t respond.
Lily held up the pretty earrings to look at them. “Want to help me get these in?” she wondered.
Freya smiled warmly. “Yep.”
“And then after that, you can bite me, so we can get that part over with.”
Freya looked at her in shock.
Now Lily felt confused for a moment, before it dawned on her. “Oh, you didn’t plan on…” She paused when she saw desire creep into her best friend’s crimson eyes, realizing she’d just unintentionally made the offer, with her friend knowing she wouldn’t back down from it.
Crap.

April 26, 2735 – Current Day – Early Evening
Lexi and I ended up taking the day off on Friday after all, having quite a bit of flexibility due to everything that happened in the last month. Not to mention, I was supposed to gain access to my evaluation tomorrow, so there was no way I wasn’t going to go in, likely doing some work while I waited impatiently.
But with Friday off, we spent a good portion of the day hanging out at the only two dealers in the area that sold the type of cars Lexi was wanting to purchase. In the end, she was still stuck on getting a Ferrari, ultimately picking out a sky-blue one as her final choice.
Even though I’d considered going with less ostentatious colors, I figured it didn’t matter as much now that the most pressing threats were gone.
Lexi was wearing fashionable sunglasses and had her hair pulled up in a high ponytail all day, so surprisingly no one seemed to recognize her. At least, not until they wanted to get the loan paperwork started, and she handed them a card to pay in full – something the insurance money would have allowed her to do even if she wasn’t already rich.
The finance guy helping us went initially from disbelief, to shock when he realized she was completely serious, to then flat-out flabbergasted when he realized who was buying. Kind of went all fanboy on her, prompting her to promise an autograph if he’d keep it down.
Shit, even with Lexi hanging on me suggestively, he barely even noticed I was there after that.
Oh well.
Didn’t really matter a ton to me anyway. At the very least, he was respectful, and we didn’t have to
