Trooper had to be put to sleep when he contracted cancer in his jaw. It was a sad time for me because Trooper had been with me throughout my battles with cancer. I deeply missed Trooper walking with me and helping me recover after surgery. Bear filled a spot of his own, however he was my husband's dog.
We went to the flea market to sell our gems and rocks that we collected from various areas. Origionally I had wanted to bring the puppy to a friend of mine who wanted a small dog. Ringo was named Pepe by another vendor. However once we got him home we decided that was not a good name. Ringo needed a home and I took him to keep a man from using the dog as bait for dog fights. Knowing his personality now Ringo would have held his own, but not against pit bulls. So he came with me. I took him to my friend, however her husband did not want her to have the dog. She was married to a man that abused her. I did not want him to abuse the little puppy. Ringo was so cute and cuddly that he slept with us.
At least the first night he slept with my husband on his chest. I thought okay my husband has another dog. Ringo however looked to me to take him around on walks in the town. Since he was small he rode in my arms. On a bright day after he had been with us a week we walked downtown. The town was celebrating its two hundredth birthday. Because everyone thought he was so cute and was named Ringo Starr they fed him treats. Ringo took a liking to popcorn and has liked it ever since.
Soon Ringo was the charmer in the family. He had a good friend in Bear. Bear liked to grin at him. That was a habit of Bear's that he picked up. I had to get false teeth which Bear watched with all the curiosity of a labordor. He would imitate me by poking out his lips which looked like he was grinning. Ringo took those grins to mean that he could play. In fact Ringo was accepted easily by the other dogs. My older dog Wanda began limping from arthritis,so Ringo would get down a pillow for her to lay on. Wanda would return the favor by washing him like she would a puppy. We believe that Nancy thought of him as a puppy too.
Ringo loves to play warrier dog with my husband. He also races around in circles on my bed playing with me. Sometimes it looks like he has a propeller attached to him when he runs around. He is loyal, quick to let anyone know he is my dog. He is obsessive of his people, however he does love my friend Vandal. Ringo is the reason why Vandal adopted long haired teacup chawhauwhau's. He has brought back a lot of companionship that I missed after Trooper died. I could not write a book without including Ringo in it.
I have loved many animals in my lifetime, they have contributed a lot to my well being. No matter if they had feathers, hair or fur they were the friends that I could confide to. They were loyal, loving without faults. If I had them as we all do, they overlooked them.
So this is the first part of the animals that graced me with their presence. Imprint
