A COUPLE HOURS LATER
"Please tell me she'll be alright." The King said to the doctor.
"I'm very sorry but I am not quite sure at the moment...We will wait three days and if she doesn't wake up then we'll know she's in a coma." The doctor replied. The King left the tent and there was Matayo, Standing by The Kings tent waiting for news.
"Is she okay?" He asked. Please tell me she's okay!! He thought.
"We don't know yet, The doctor said we will wait three days and if she's not awake, then she's in a coma...I'm so worried Matayo!" He said and he started crying.
"Your Majesty, I'm not sure either but something is telling me that she will be fine." Matayo said. "Can I please stay here with you all until she wakes up?"
"Of course Matayo! You saved her life! Single handedly defeated THREE Jaguars! You may stay." He said.
"King Richard, May I tell you something?" He asked.
"Well of course!" He replied.
"Alright, um, I am in love with Mercy..." he said slowly.
"So are you asking me for my daughters hand in marriage?" He asked.
"Yes, I guess I am." He said back.
"I think...It would be a splendid Idea! Who could better suit my daughter than the young fellow who saved her life?" King Richard said practically dancing!
The next day came and everyone was outside the treatment tent, except for the doctor of course. A couple minutes past and the doctor walked out.
"I am very happy to announce that Princess Mercy Carlisle is AWAKE!" The doctor said with glee.
"Oh Mr. Carter, That is just wonderful! Thank you so much!" King Richard yelled and jumped up and down twice."Matayo come! We must go tell Mercy of the wedding!" And Matayo followed.
"Daddy!" Mercy yelled at she sprang to a sitting position.
"Now darling, you mustn't move too much." he said. "I have something to talk to you about. How do you feel about the Indian boy, Matayo. He did save your life after all and you owe him it."
"Do you want me to be honest?" she asked.
"Yes of course honey." He said. Matayo was listening outside of the tent and was a little worried.
"I am completely, Incredibly, undoubtedly in love with him...And I dont want to marry anyone but him!" She said, her voice stern. Matayo couldn't help but smile. He was so happy that she felt the same way and he must go tell Kaya right away but he would have to wait until he talked to Mercy first."
"You know darling, after your accident with the jaguars, Matayo saved you and brought you back here. He didn't leave, not once! I don't think he slept either. He was worried sick and he told me the other night, well hang on." He said in one big breath. "Matayo! Come in here and tell Mercy what you told me last night."
Mercy's eyes got wide. Did he just hear everything I said? She asked herself and she felt herself blush again.
"Mercy, how are you feeling?" Matayo asked.
"Quite fine, thank you." She replied.
"Well go on and tell her what you told me." King Richard Edged.
"Well, Mercy, I am in love with you and I already heard what you said to your father and I am so happy that you feel that way too. I was so nervous about this moment but it turns out it's not that bad of a moment. I love you Mercy will you be my wife?" He said in a big breath just like King Richard.
"Oh Matayo, I don't know how to tell you this but," She began. Matayo's heart sank. "Yes!! I will!!" She smiled and her eyes lit up. Matayo blushed and smiled and hugged her all within a second. He kissed her cheek and held her close as King Richard walked out of the tent.
"Now, why would you kiss my cheek? We're to be married, I should get something more special than that." She joked. Matayo grabbed her waist with one hand and slid his fingers down her jaw line. Pulled her in close to him, and Kissed her. The kiss lasted about five minutes. He pulled back and asked "Was that better?"
"Oh yes." She laughed.
Matayo returned to his village once, and only once and didn't even talk to his perents. He knew what they would say, 'you are no longer my first born and no longer a prince!' so he didn't tell them but he did tell Kaya. Actually it went like this:
"Kaya! I asked her to marry me and she said yes!" Matayo said more excitedly than he had ever been before.
"Thats wonderful Matayo! I'm very happy for you!" Kaya replied with a big smile.
"Well, we leave tomorrow on her ship, to go back to England. I will miss you so much!" He said with tears filling his eyes. It burned so much he could've sworn it was acid.
"What about your parents? Aren't you going to say good-bye?" Kaya asked.
"No they wouldn't let me go I already know that. Please dont tell them until two moonsets." he begged.
"Alright, I will miss you too." She said and kissed his forehead. "That is for good luck. Bring me grandkids back! I want to see them!" She said.
"Kaya! Please!" He laughed. "Good-bye" he waved.
"Good-bye Matayo..." She said and held her breath as she watched him leave. Her eyes watered and she knew, she would never see him again. England is big and he will forget about us. She thought.
Wedding bells rang and Mercy wore a brown and black wedding dress and Matayo wore a Dark brown tuxedo and maroon tie.
"Do you take Princess Mercy Ann Carlisle, to be your wedded wife?" The priest asked.
"I do." Matayo said. Good thing King Richard told him what to say or else he would have just said yes. He laughed to himself.
"And do you take Matayo Seneca, to be your wedded husband?" The priest asked Mercy.
"I do." She said starring into his eyes, smiling.
"Then I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss your bride." He said gesturing to Mercy. There was that kiss they were waiting for, the kiss that bound them together, forever.
"I love you Mercy." Matayo said.
"And I love you."
