It's been a long night, I barely slept and my alarm just started ringing for the fifth time telling me to get the fuck out of bed or you're gonna be fucking late and fucking ugly if you don't have enough time to fix that thing you call face.
"Ugh, fineeee..." I groan and moan as I roll myself out of bed. I drag myself to my bathroom and look at myself in the mirror half awake. I pull my hair back and wash my face using my expensive exfoliator that is a gracious smell of citrus fruit that wakes me up every morning. As I scrub my face, I hear my phone ring.
"Hellooooo?" I say as I throw the phone onto my bathroom counter and click the speaker button with my pinky finger.
"Hey Kia!" Hunter yells into the phone. Only my closest friends call me that, meaning Hunter and Sophie.
"Hey Hun," I reply, "What up?"
"Wanna ride?" he offers.
"Nah, I'm good, hun." I say as I rince my face off with a wet pink cloth and quickly dry my face off. I start to brush my naturally dried hair from last night's long shower.
"We can get some freeeee donuuuuts..." he teases, well, more like tempts, tortures... "You know you want tooooo!" he says in a singy-songy tune.
"Okay, fine, you win!" I shout back laughing at him.
"As always!" he gushes being cheeky. He may be the school fuckboi, not the top fuckboi, but he's still cute and innocent when he wants to be.
"Sure, sure, hun. Believe what you want!" I joke back at him. I love calling him 'hun', he secretly hates it. Well, actually, it's no secret, he tells me all the time. I love it cause it sounds like 'honey' but short so 'hun' but it's also a nickname for is actual name Hunter so 'hun'. I love it! I've been doing it for years and he still hates it.
"Kiara Graves, stop calling me that or you're not getting any donuts!" he jokes, well, I hope he's joking.
"Noooooo, not the donuts!" I yelp dramatically as I finish my hair and open my makeup bag.
"Okay, fine." he assures me, "So, I'll pick you up at the usual?" he asks but implies it more as a statement.
"Yup, I'll see you soon, hun!" I rebelliously yell back.
"Imma fucking k-" he starts to yell back but I hung up, cutting him off before he could finish his sentence.
"Whoops." I say and continue getting ready. After about another twenty minutes in the bathroom, I walk over to my closet to pick out a set of clothes for the day. Once I've gotten that down, I start dealing with my hair, trying to decide wether I should straight it, or curl it. I end up straightening it because I got too lazy to take the time to curl it. I slip my clothes on and stuff all the things I need into my purse for the day.
I slip on a pair of vans and grab my phone checking the time. With about 15 minutes extra that I would normally use to eat breakfast or grab an apple if I'm really late, I decide to slip in some earrings which I rarely do because I get lazy. I end up standing in front of the mirror looking straight ahead, lost in thought.
My phone rings once again, bringing me back to reality.
"Bitch, where you at?" Hunter says impatiently.
"Bitch, I'm coming! Calm your titties," I reply jokingly.
"Okay," he answers back happily like a five year old kid. I laugh and hang up the phone as I grab my things and run down the stairs. I grab my keys and run out the door into Hunter's beautiful black car (I don't know shit about cars but I know his is beau-ti-ful!).
"Let's go!" I yell to him, "I need my donuts, and some caffeine..."
"Okay, okay... I'm going!" he yells back stressy and I giggle at him.
"Stop giggling bitch, what took you so long? Normally you already waitin' outside the door for meh?" Hunter complained to me while talking all funny.
"Well excuuuuuuuuuuuse me for trying to put in a pair of earrings, hun." I sass and squint at him as I call him hun once more.
"Bitch call me hun one more time." he threatens.
"Hun." I blurt out clearly looking straight at him, "Whatcha gon' do about it now, huh?"
"You're gonna regret that..." he says and drives straight past dunkin donuts.
"Nooo, nononononononononono no." I plead to him.
"I warned you, biotch," he replies not even flinching on my pleas.
"I neeeeeeeed a donut! Huuuuuuuunntteeeeeerrrrrrr!" I beg to him with my hands stuck together in praying position. "Huuuuuunnnnnntttteeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr...." I yell as loud as and as long as I possibly can until he gives up. "C'mon, c'mon, you know you want the donuts too, c'mon... Hunnnnteerrrr, c'mon," I tease him poking at his sides until he smiles.
"Ugh, you know me to damn well... Dammit, Kia." he pouts and turns around to go back to Dunkin Donuts. I teasingly push his shoulder as I laugh at him and feel the accomplishment of my pursuation.
"You know you love meeeeee!" I tease him.
"Yeah, yeah... Whatever..." he says with a chuckle at the end trying to hide it. We order our donuts and I get myself some caffeine to keep myself awake for the day since I didn't get much sleep. We get back to getting to school and eat on the way there. Obviously, we had to keep a donut for Sophie or she'd not talked to me for about an hour.
"So, why you so desperate for that shot of caffeine? And why'd you skip our after school plans yesterday? Something wrong, Kia?" Hunter asks these many questions worried and curious.
"Nah, just couldn't fall asleep, my mom brought a new guy home and, well, you know where that goes..." I lied, honestly, I didn't even hear my mom and her new guy last night. The house was super quiet.
"Yeah, I do... Thanks for telling me that..." he says sarcastically and disgusted.
"Well, you asked." I said putting the blame on him.
"Okay, fine. But that still doesn't explain why you bailed on us yesterday. We had to listen to one of Sophie's boring gossip stories on Drew Savoy and Amber Hydes and Brooke Trapp. Those bitches are best friends until it comes to who can get that guy first. What does he have that I don't?" he questions, probably wanting a serious answer.
"Awww, is Hunter jellyyyyy of Drew Savoy?" I tease him in a baby voice, also trying to get the questions away from me.
"Shut up." he snaps back and angrily eats his donut.
"Don''t take it out on your donut... It's not his fault." I pout jokingly with a laugh and make Hunter smile and he playfully shoves me as he parks into the school parking lot.
"Whatever." he mutters with a laugh and turns the engine off. We get out of the car and meet up with the squad at our usual spot under a special tree that we've all craved our names into back in Freshmen Year. I pass Sophie her donut secretly as I hug her and give her a kiss on the cheek. She whisper-yells a thank you in my ear and gives me a big kiss on the cheek and a big hug to Hunter. I hug Nicole (Hunter's speed dial booty call but we're still pretty good friends) and fist bump Bryce (assumingy gay friend who is the newest in our group and from France, kind of...)
We chill for a while and then go our seperate ways. First period, Friday morning, uh, oh right, history... Fuck me. I rush over to my locker to grab my history textbook that is actually enormous and double check my make up in my locker mirror along with a teeth and lip check after devouring those donuts earlier. I decide to simply grab a piece of gum and go to class.
I arrive a little early and decide to sit towards the back of the class. I chug down the rest of my latte and throw it in the trash before the teacher gets in.
IV. Party planning
The day drags on and on... as if it were never ending. I just wanted to roll back into bed and sleep my life and feelings and thoughts away. I've been constantly thinking, random thoughts jumping around. Like, why didn't I tell the truth to Hunter earlier. Why didn't I tell him the real reason why couldn't sleep all night? Maybe, I'm embarassed. Maybe, I'm scared about what he would say. Maybe, I don't wanna hear the truth that I already know of deep down inside of me. I can't have a crush on Drew Savoy, that's ridiculous. Not me, Kiara Graves doesn't crush on fuckboys. Never. Well, except Hunter, way back then, before we even knew what puberty was...
Why did I bail on yesterday's plans? I still didn't have a reasonable reason. Why am I so caught up on Drew Savoy? I mean, nothing happened. We barely even talked. He doesn't know anything about me and I don't know anything about him except for all the things I've heard about, mostly from Sophie who's obsessed with the cool kids and dreams of being one of them.
I decided that I needed to tell someone about my current situation instead of balling up my feelings inside of me. I couldn't tell Hunter this morning, I think he'd be too, uh, I'm not sure what word to use... honest? jealous? Ugh, which ever...
I don't know if I'll have the guts to tell Sophie. Well, yeah, I have the guts to do it, but it's the aftermath that will blow up in my face. Since she's so obsessed, she's gonna maybe trying to get me and Drew together which would get me and her both a place in the group of the "cool kids" and we'd live happily ever after.
However, I strongly disagree and don't want that to happen.
*****
Now, sitting at lunch, Nicole is talking about a party this weekend that she got invited to and wants, needs all of us to come.
"Come on, Kiki, you need to party! Blow off some steam! Sophie needs her gossip and it all can be seen live, she could even be part of a story... Bryce here, needs to open up and shit, gotta get him drunk AF (as fuck)! And me, I need myself a MAN!" Nicole says listing all possible reasons why we all need to go to this party.
"Am I not enough for you Nikki?" Hunter leans into her slipping his hands into her shirt and leans in to kiss her but she pushes him off.
"Uhhh, no." she snaps in his face as all of us laugh at Hunter. "I need a new man. I'm just your booty call, bitch. I mean, don't get me wrong, I do like it..." she whispers getting closer to him as he has a
