that we need to turn around, Kevin.” Thomas’ mom insisted. Kevin just stood there confused and mesmerized. BANG! A ruckus so loud, the origin of its direction couldn’t be determined. It echoed through the tunnels. All flashlights started to flicker indicating the battery dying. “Kevin! We need to leave now!” Thomas’ mom panicked. The sound of a stone wall rolling occurred behind them. “Okay, he have to-…” Kevin stopped in the middle of his sentence with a frightened look on his face. With what little, flickering light he had left he shined in it down to his feet. There were pale, bloody, battered, and scratched hands around his ankles. Just as soon as he shined the light on them, he was pulled down and dragged into darkness. “No!!” He screamed in agony and the wall closed back and seemed sealed. Thomas’ mom scanned the wall with her hands, crying, looking for a way to open the wall. She couldn’t find one. She put her back to wall and forced with all her might. THUD! THUD! The wall didn’t want to budge. She slid down the wall, down to the floor, and balled up and cried. Thomas stood motionless, speechless, and devastated. “Mom, do we need to get out of here?” He managed to squeak out. “We can’t leave him! Besides, we could if we tried; he had the map in his bag! God knows what’s happening to him in there!” Thomas’ mom started punching the wall.

“Mom, don’t hurt yourself. We have to find him.” “

We don’t know what that was! He could be dead for all we know!”

“Don’t talk like that! We don’t know for sure.”

“We don’t even know which way to go.”

“We have to go down different tunnels and rooms and search around.”

Thomas’ mom got up from her grieving. She shot straight up out of her spot. With no clue of direction, they went down numerous tunnels. There was no clue of where Kevin could be. No clue of where anyone could be. Not even an exit was in sight. The look of panic and worry permanently danced on Thomas’ mom’s face. Gruesome thoughts clouded her brain, along with Thomas’. Could Kevin be getting killed? Or tortured? Or worse? Nothing felt worse than being trapped in the same place your boyfriend or step dad was captured be an unknown creature. What felt like two hours passed and they found themselves at a dead end.  “What do we do now?” Thomas’ mom asked hopelessly. Thomas sat down against a wall….which began to cave in! Thomas stumbled to his feet and shined his flashlight in the new room that appeared. Does it lead to Kevin? He thought curiously as he and his mom stepped in the dark room. The wall suddenly slammed shut behind them. After a few more steps a voice boomed and echoed, “Welcome to my chamber!”

Suddenly a man appeared holding a torch low enough to where his face wasn’t seen. Thomas moved his mom behind him. The torch moved to a wall and lit a mounted torch with the other. Then it moved to the opposite wall and did the same and then the man turned his back. The whole room was lit. “I hope you’re enjoying your little visit.” His voice was strong and foreign. Thomas looked around the room and saw horribly gruesome things. A man was nailed to a wall with his intestines spilled out. Another man was nailed on an upside down cross mounted on the wall. His eyeballs where cut out. It was recent; blood still trickled down his forehead and dripped into a large puddle. A woman lied in a corner on a bed. Her breasts cut off exposing bones all broken and shattered. The next Thomas couldn’t tell if it was a man or a woman, it was just balled in the corner half way skinned alive. Breathing heavy, crying, and muttering in some foreign language. Dangling from the ceiling, someone was hung from a rope of barb wire and since it was silent you could he the sound of the ligaments and muscles in his neck slowly ripping until BOOM! The man fell right next to Thomas’ feet. Following the body, the head dropped next to Thomas’ mom. “I’ve been waiting for that one to drop down.” The man with the torch said still with his back turned. He appeared to be cleaning tools. Sharp tools. Deadly tools. He tossed a head in a pile of other body parts. There was heads, arms, legs, intestines, severed penises, breast, and the gut wrenching list goes on. There was blood everywhere you looked in the room. The man spoke again, “I’m sorry, where are my manners. I forgot to introduce myself.” The man turned around revealing the evil face of…KEVIN! Thomas’ mom gasped in astonishment. “No,” she stammered, “it can’t be. I saw you get pulled in!” “Oh, you can thank my partner for that.” Kevin said pointing to a tunnel. A woman came out…with battered, bloody hands dragging the bodies of more unfortunate victims. “Honey,” Kevin said to the woman, “please be so polite and introduce yourself.” “My name is Sasha, nice to meet you people.” The foreign woman spoke. “I am Eric’s wife.” “Eric?” Thomas’ mom managed to get out, it was almost a whisper. “That would be me.” Kevin spoke.  “I know you’re lost, but…-” “Your accent,” Thomas’ mom cut him off, “it’s not the same.” “Oh, yes that would be the product of childhood acting classes. I can throw my accent; however, this is my true voice.” “What is all of this?” Thomas spoke up. “How could you do all of this?” Thomas’ mom interrupted. “It’s quite simple really,” Eric started, “I’ve been doing this for years. Going to America, finding a nice little American family, going on ‘vacation’ here and visiting my chamber for some family fun.” “I can’t believe you.” Thomas said with anger. “I never trusted you!” “Don’t feel too bad,” Eric laughed evilly, “I didn’t completely lie to you. My ancestors really did build this place. They always brought civilians back here and had their rituals to raise an evil spirit and give the people as sacrifices. Part by part. I tried the rituals, but nothing happened. Even when I gave my sacrifice. So I decided to have my fun and continue the legacy. I didn’t need the rituals and spirits, I just enjoyed my fun.” Eric continued to laugh. The laugh was terrifying and sent chills up Thomas’ and his mom’s body. “I almost regret doing this to you guys. I enjoyed you quite much. However, the legacy must continue.” Eric said walking towards them. They backed up, but there was no way out. Sasha also got closer and held a spiked club in her hand. Steps got closer. Thomas and his mom got further. Closer. Further. Closer. Further. Thomas’ mom hit the wall and looked down and noticed a knife on the ground behind her. She quickly turned around, picked up the knife, and as soon as she turned around the spiked club hit the side of her face. The spiked nails dug into her skin and ripped half of her face as it pulled away. The impact knocked her out and Sasha started beating the rest of her skull with the club until it was nothing, but crushed bone and torn skin. Meanwhile, Eric is approaching Thomas who also found a knife. Eric and Thomas both had knives ready to strike. They paced around the room slowly. All of a sudden, Sasha runs towards Thomas with the club raised, the club came down, Thomas dodged, and shoved the knife through her back so far the tip dug out the front. “No!” Eric screamed as he ran towards Thomas, knife raised, he came down, Thomas dodge the attack, goes to stab Eric, but he dodges too. Thomas suddenly had a desperate idea. He dropped his knife. Eric looked surprised, but didn’t drop his. “Dumb decision, boy.” Eric laughed glaring at him. It seemed dumb, but he remembered something. Thomas then ran towards Eric, jumped as Eric attacked, and kicked him in his temple to knock him out. Eric was out cold. Thomas lifted Eric’s body as much as he could and said, “Let’s see if I can remember this right.” He then said, “Oh, great cleansing spirit. The banisher of evil and people who commit to evil, come to me and cleanse this place.” Suddenly the whole room began to glow a bright white. Thomas was blinded by the light, but he heard a giant voice boom in the room and say, “Young man, you are a hero. You have just ended years and years of evil. This once great structure is now unfortunately tainted with the blood of the innocent. I must destroy the structure to restore goodness. You must quickly leave; I thank you for what you have done.” The spirit tore a way out through a wall. Thomas ran out into the desert sun, got far enough distance to not get hurt, but close enough to where he could see the Great pyramid slowly start to crumble to dust. Thomas was thankful he remembered what he did. Back when he studied ancient Egypt, people offered sacrifices, but the spirits only revealed themselves to the worthy and the good. Eric’s ancestors didn’t bring random civilians, they brought evil prisoners, murders, and rapists and the spirit destroyed them. All of a sudden, the pyramid started to reform. When it was fully formed, people started walking out. Thomas figured they were the innocent people murdered. They all thanked him because the spirit made them aware of Thomas’ deed. However, his mother didn’t walk out. Thomas cried, but was enlightened by the spirit. His mother was not innocent. She has been unfaithful through many marriages. That’s why his dad divorced her. Thomas was told that his father was unfaithful and has been mad at him ever since. Thomas was mind blown. Thomas then fainted. He woke up on a couch he didn’t recognize. “I’m glad you’re okay.” A man said standing over him. It was his father. “Dad, you won’t believe…” His father cut him off and said, “I know everything. Don’t worry.”
