This is the first chapter of a book I am writing about a family that takes in the son of their mom's old friend after his father dies. For Travis this means leaving his mom and going to live with strangers after just losing his dad, and fighting for his life. For Kailey this means there is another guy in the house and that alone is enough. And for Sam this means learning to let people in again.
