LAND OF KALMADAS
BOOK ONE: THE BEGINNING OF LICH
My name is Criden Waren I am telling the story of how I became the most powerful evil warrior in all the lands of the middle earth. It was 1410 in the village of Kotarian Country of Boskow. It had been 4 years since the war of the east and west had ended and I was nothing but a small boy the age of ten my father had died in the war even though he had no place in it. Kotarian is in the Deep South there was no need to be involved in the battles of the east and west yet he was eager to fight. I knew my father wished with all his heart to fight once again since he had not fought in over twenty years. In fact he hadn’t battled since the great war against the Trike Elves of Kalmas a land far from our reach ever since. This is not because we can’t reach it but because we fear we will not return if we do the Trike Elves are tremendous in numbers and powerful with arrows. Ever since the great war my father had not fought any enemy and by the time the war ended there was no one left to fight, Boskow had become stronger than the rest of the lands and we planned to keep it that way planned but see plans fail and this is what happened to us Boskow had fallen to a force stronger in number and weaponry I was still a young boy at the time about 13 years of age when the force moved in from the south they were nothing but humans but they outnumbered us two to one their force was 2000 strong Kotarian had but 200 men half of which were sick and not trained, me my mother and ten others made it out before they found us. But we knew that Kotarian had fallen our home was lost with everything we knew, as we fled I looked back and saw nothing but defeat and fire as the rage built inside me I vowed I would be the sword the hero that slays this force and saves my homeland and one would go to these men and take their homeland as my own. As we rode towards the south many other travelers joined us their cities and villages had fallen the same fate.
The force was moving in towards Boskow’s capital city were the king sat in wait for them to arrive. The kingdom of Brakent was strong and powerful but they were outnumbered just as the villages it commands were Brakent was gone before the fall of the crescent moon that same night. In less than a day the most powerful city in all of the lands to the west had fallen ever since then we have named that day Ich monte carda la sno mer Day the rule fell to fire. We had lost everything and many had given up on their past lives and merged into the kingdoms of the north. I refused to I would end this evil that had destroyed my life and vowed always to be under the rule of our lost homeland to always be loyal to the Kingdom of Boskow.
I was not the only one two others had joined my fight Ferloin Mctar and Teskon Terion they were my same age but had come from the North of Boskow. They believed in saving their homeland as much as I did maybe even more but that didn’t matter we were all on the same quest first and that was to become warriors first. Ferloin had already been named by us as the best at robbing people blind he was never caught and always got away. Whenever we needed food we relied on him to get it for us normally bread and fruits. He was the most important person at the time and would keep this title for a while after. it was on a Tuesday that we decided to leave the small town of Trekkar in East Bellton.
We were moving towards the city of Tellrin West Bellton, on our way we saw a tower in a field we noticed an old man in the tower arguing with a giant mushroom in the front of the tower at first we were going to go around but the man disappeared and reappeared directly in front of us he seemed crazy but nice I said hello and addressed all of my party we found that he is called the Bard of the North I had asked him why he was arguing with a mushroom he told us that it wouldn’t leave and would argue with it till it did leave we also learned he is magic uses the power of fire we figured this could help on our journey but he would not join he preferred to stay in his tower but randomly appear and destroy armies with fire the man was odd and off the man must’ve ate some bad mushrooms because I know of no one that is that crazy by natural cause. As we moved away from the Bard I felt as if he were going to help us in the future.
It had been five years and we had become stronger and more skilled with weaponry I had finally learned to use a sword the sword I had received was powerful it was gifted to me by the king of Bellton to assist me on my quest I also got to name the sword but it still needed to make that name for its self I had named the sword The Elven Slayer in memory of my father and homeland. The sword was made of Northern Kinooact steel the strongest building material in all the lands it would’ve coasted me to much gold to count if I would’ve bought it. The handle was made of pure Northern Pine hard wood with the finest leather wrapped and melted on it was truly a fine sword. It was also a sword of the North making it strong and highly prized.
I knew that I was no longer a warrior of the south but a warrior of the north now. I had received armor from a blacksmith I had helped a while back it was made out of black steel with the symbol of the army of Boskow which was a sword pointing down going through a gear symbolizing our strength and power. Using this symbol was no longer outlawed because they had fallen with Boskow. We were the only ones that used it because we were the only ones worthy to. Because of our quest to save Boskow were honored and allowed many things but we still needed to learn to fight otherwise we would be crushed before we drew our weapons.
Two years later Northern city of Elgeren, We spent two years in Elgeren training we all have finally become warriors true warriors. Our first quest as warriors was to take down a force of fifty in the valley of the dead. When we finally arrived we had begun to think that there was too many to fight but just as we stood to our feet fire rained over our heads and destroyed the force in seconds the fire seemed to appear from no where. We soon found the source of the fire was in fact the bard we had met seven years ago he looked even more crazy than the last we saw him. He came down towards us and asked how we were doing as Ferloin replied Teskon asked if the mushroom had left yet oddly enough but the bard had told us it was still sitting in front of his house arguing with him. He was a weird old man but had just saved our skins so I offered some food but he declined turned and disappeared.
We had begun our real quest now we must return to our homeland but I know not what it may be like because seven years have pasted who knows what kind of changes have been made. The journey there was hard and deadly but was the easy part and it would only get harder. As we entered our home we noticed that there were buildings that were built funny and unfamiliar style indeed. We came in the night as quiet as we could which obvisly Ferloin was better at. As we came up to the town we saw guards wearing steel armor with a moon on the chest plate. I threw the first strike my blade cut through the man’s armor and into his flesh sending him to the ground to die. I pulled my sword out of his side and with on slash stole his head from his body leaving him limp. Another man tried to run up and catch me by surprise I turned and ducked, he slashed missing me by and inch I lunged forward sending my blade threw the moon on his chest and out the back of his armor. I pulled my sword out quickly and cut his head off with one strike.
I threw my sword in front of catching one man’s helmet sending him directly to the solid ground disoriented and injured I brung my foot down heavily on his neck cracking everything there was to crack. As I did this I heard someone running towards me I turned on my heels quickly and parried spun my sword disarming the man and sent my cold blade threw the bottom of his left eye quickly ending his life. With the shirt of a man dead do to Felroin’s throwing dagger I wiped the warm read blood off and sheathed my sword. As I looked over the horizon I saw two guards running I knew it wasn’t smart to follow them so we went to the west and would come around on them. By dusk we had reached another town with weird buildings except this one had a flag with the same moon we saw on the soldiers in the last town this one was also more guarded.
I was the first to enter I rushed two guard quickly sending them to the ground and cut their necks wide open. Another guard ran at me from the side I powerfully brung my sword down on his head splitting his helmet and skull in half. I brung my blade back to a blocking position stopping a guards dagger from entering my side I swung my sword back and put it directly through his neck causing his body to go limp and fall to the ground. I drew my sword back to my face and swiped at a running guard legs cutting both off the man fell to the ground screaming I brung my sword up and layed pity upon him.
I turned quickly slashing through a guard sending him to the ground. I turned suddenly throwing my side arm dagger into another guard’s neck as he tried to run away. I fell to my knees in realization that I had just killed men, men that had family’s wives son’s daughters and I killed them with one swing of my sword. I had realized what I had done I had just committed what these people had so long ago I was now no better than them. I felt something inside me deep inside in my soul as if it were turning evil the feeling of killing these men in revenge it felt good and I would continue. Ferloin look at me as if I was turning in to what we were out to destroy I lunged forward my sword first but Teskon jumped in front of Felroin my blade hit
