I knew things, things no human should know. I lived a dangerous and hellish life of war, and fighting. I lived in a conflict between 2 secret factions, The Magicka, and The Silencers. The Silencers, an cybernetically advanced human faction that thrives on their electronics. Their only goal is to syphon bank accounts everywhere.
Chapter One
Drive away
My phone vibrates in my pocket, I take the phone out and press the power button, a message displays on the screen: We R Ready. The message was from Amy, my best friend and also part of Magicka. She sent me the map of where she and the rest of the gang were located. Far, far from where I was. The image she sent seemed like she was in the middle of nowhere. How was I going to get there in under a few minutes? From New York City?. I knew what I had to, I had to steal a car.
A Subaru parked on the side of the road looked vacant. I look around for people to see if anyone was watching. I use my elbow to break into the window and unlock the door. I hot wire it and I begin to drive.
The radio blared the chorus of Highway To Hell on full volume. I'm On a Highway to hell! I eventually turned it down in fear of destroying my ear drums. My phone begins to ring.
“Jello” I answer.
“Did you seriously just say jello? I'm ashamed in you, Will.” Amy’s sarcastic voice answers me.
“Yeah it felt weird.” I laugh. “I'm almost there, really close.”
“How are you here this early? I thought it would take you at least 4 hours.”
“Stole a car, speeding.”
“Dude! What don't you get about a secret meetup?!”
“The secret part.”
“You’re such an idiot.” Amy hangs up on me.
A noise rumbles behind me, a purple motorcycle approaches and passes me, even though I was going over 100 MPH. The motorcycle speeds ahead and turns around, not a u turn, no. It turned completely around and drove backwards. Everytime I passed a car it seemed to move with me, like it was mimicking my driving style. The symbol on the front of it read; SILENCERs, in there horrid font that hurts your eyes just reading it. The Silencer wore a white helmet that most Silencers wear to hide their identities with a large line of purple running down the middle. Computer code seemed to fall like rain drops down the purple screen of the helm.
Myradio sparked. The damn Silencer was hacking into my car. The check engine light was blinking on my dashboard. My car slowed down to a almost stop. Cars honked their horns behind me. The Silencer motorcycle charged a ball of purple electricity from above its wheel aimed right at me. I open the door of my car and jump at just the right time, the ball explodes my car to pieces.
“Damn!” I shout. I had to call Amy.
“What is it now, Will?” She answered, obviously annoyed.
“Welp, lost my car.” I say to her.
“You mean you lost your STOLEN car.” She corrects me.
“Whatever.”
“So, what are you gonna do?”
“Walk I guess, I'm only a few miles away from you guys, or so the map says.”
“I'm not going to let you walk all the way here, I'll send someone to pick you up.”
“Sounds good.”
The car came faster than I thought it would. It was smooth sailing from there. Marco, another member of Magicka was the driver.
“Now, what the hell happened to your car?” Marco looks away from the road and at me.
“God damn Silencer attack.” I explain.
“Silencer? I thought they gave up on attacking us.”
“Guess not, seems like they have more firepower this time.”
He hits his hand down on the wheel. “Damn it!” Marco always had quite the temper. “Any idea where the scum went?”
“After he shot at me his motorcycle seemed to… disappear.”
“Their camouflage, the tech of theirs allows them to make their vehicles to seem to in your case ‘disappear’.”
“What are they anyways.”
“Humans in suits. Thats it. But they have the power to look like anyone and act like anyone just by the click of a button.”
Marco moves off the main road onto a longer dirt road. A large cube like building stands out in the distance. “See that? Thats our new hideout.”
“Definitely a hideout, a what, 100 foot tall building just screams hideout.”
“Don't hate on it. Its a little big yes but its the perfect place to make a home.”
“A ‘little big’?”
Marco stops the car in front of the cube, “Lets go, hater.” We step out in into the warm desert air. Ive never been in the desert, and it was nothing like they portrayed it in movies or TV shows. There wasn't tumbleweeds rolling around in the sand, there wasn't cacti every single inch of the desert, but indeed, it was boiling hot.
“How the hell do you put up with this?” I ask Marco.
“You'll see when we get inside, follow me.” I listen to Marco and follow him inside. Marco was right, the colder air hits me cooling me off.
Amy greets us when we get inside and shows us around. This place was amazing, Large, quiet, relaxing. This room gave off a homey vibe. I could live here.
“Make yourself at home, Will.. But don't get too comfortable.” Amy laughs.
Cycling in SilenceChapter 2
Cycling in Silence
“Hey Will, guess what you get to do?” I hear Amy’s voice call me.
“What now, Amy?” I ask.
“You're going back to New York!”
“Yay…” I say in a monotone voice. “Don't act so glum, we have something for you, follow me.” She begins walking towards the garage area. Like she requested, I followed. Sounds of cars and vehicles being worked on seemed to be more common as I move towards it. She opens the garage door revealing the giant room with different cars being worked on.
“Down these stairs.” She points me in the direction down a stairwell.
Something caught my eye when walking into Garage 29, A purple Silencer motorcycle sat parked in the center of the room. Amy grabs my hand and places a key in it.
“Shes all yours.” Amy smiles. “It'll help you get past enemy lines. And also, theres this.” She hands me a Silencer Helmet. “We found this. I say found… But… Thats not even close on how we found it.” She laughs.
“What am I even going to do in New York?” I ask.
“Infiltrating their base.” She laughs. “Infiltrating is such a weird word. But, they have something we want, and need.”
I begin to climb on the motorcycle, and place on my helmet. I put the key in the ignition.
“Good luck!” I hear Amys voice shout as I take off out of the garage.
Driving out of the base and into main roads, Silencer vehicles seemed to be more common. It seemed like they were spreading like locusts swarming.
The wind whistled in my ear through the helmet. The lack of tech in the helmet left a lot of room. I’ve seen the inside of one of these before, with all the tech, i'm surprised they even have breathing room.
The motorcycle drove smoother than any other motorcycle I've ever drone.
