Cameron & Seth

"Cameron" I heard my name being called but I couldn't quite pinpoint the voice.

"Cameron" it was so distant, as if it was an echo.

"Cameron!" I felt myself being violently shaken from my torpor slumber. Sluggishly I rose, with more help from Seth than the will of my own. I was mostly limp in my friends hands. He had to give me another forcible shake before I fully came to. But in his aggressive motion something clattered to the floor.

"Cameron, come on buddy, we gotta hurry." Seth spoke frantically which made me become more alert and cautious.

"What is it?" I asked, quickly wiping the sleep from my eyes.

"The brute force, they're coming, and they're going to want that," He pointed at the object that had fallen on the floor just moments ago. I quickly picked it up, holding it to my chest.

"I'll keep a look out at the door, but you best be hidin' that thing somewhere safe."
I nodded and began thinking up different places that I could possibly hide this thing. It wasn't all that big, but it was definitely dangerous. Anyone seen with one was killed on site.

I decided on a place to hide it. I quickly stowed it away.
"They're comin'!" Seth whispered loudly. I saw him slowly shut the door and hurriedly make his way to his bed. "Come on, if we act like we're sleepin' then maybe they won't suspect nothin'" He climbed onto his straw bedding and pretended to have not woken at all during the night. I pretended to do the same, I really hoped that my muscles didn't look as ridged and tense as they felt.

Seth and I only had to wait a couple of minutes before we heard the thunderous rapping of huge meaty hands raking their knuckles against our door frame, hard.

"Open up!" We could hear a man say. We continued to 'sleep'. A few seconds passed, obviously too long for the person on the other side. "You have five seconds to open up, or we're inviting ourselves in!" That mans shouting was ringing my ears, but Seth was the one who decided to answer the door. Feigning sleepiness he opened the door, pretended to yawn and rub the sleep from his eyes. "Whatcha want?"

"I know there are two of you here, where's the other one?" The man was demanding, rather than asking.

"He's asleep, we both have an early start tomorrow." Seth explained.

"I don't care, get em' up, lest of course you don't mind me waking him up myself." Near the end I could hear him crack a smirk.

There was a long pause, too long. I almost 'woke up' to see what had happened to Seth when I heard my name called. "Hey Cameron. We have some friends who want to see you."

I think I had gotten up too quickly, it may have looked suspicious, but I didn't stop long to think about it. The last thing I needed was the brute force to be breaking in here and discovering my little treasure. That would be a disaster waiting to happen. Wait, who was I kidding? It IS a disaster waiting to happen.

I came up to the door and stood next to Seth.
