I glanced out the window covered in smudged handprints, observing the clear drops of rain slide down the glass. Another dreary day
, I thought to myself, feeling disheartened. The gloomy clouds hung over the run-down cottage nestled neatly behind the rolling hills of Loteru, a remote town in the mountains. The stagnant feeling of the surrounding town provided dull days filled with monotony and a disappointing sameness.
I sighed, my head throbbing with a swelling headache as I briskly disregarded the scene outside. A chill crawled down my back, the sensation equivalent to the feeling of cool hands tracing my spine. I swung around swiftly, my arms tense and ready to unleash my wrath onto my opponent. There was nobody there; my only companion was the moan of the wind echoing through the house. I quivered, faintly feeling my hands shake from fright and bewilderment.
Ruffling my strawberry blond hair, I moved to my couch. The black and white, sticker-embellished remote in hand, I clicked on the television. I stretched out myself and lounged on the couch comfortably as the weatherman discussed the dropping temperature. Thunder crackled outside, brightening the sullen clouds. A shrill voice yipped in the distance at an alarming volume, causing me to jump. What's that?
I wondered, shuffling to my feet and chewing my stubby fingernails simultaneously.
I strode towards the front door, the clip-clop of my high heels on the shiny wood flooring adding a sense of eeriness to the scene as I neared the source of the noise. I reached the door and slowly unlatched it, listening to the creak of door as it opened and let in the muddled spring air.
