Arrows flew beautifully through the sky. They created shadows over our heads. "Shields!" Our commanding officer screamed. We covered our heads with our bulky shields. The arrows connected with the shields, some poorly placed shields let arrows pass through. It hit my fellow comrades. They would lay lifelessly on the battlefield. I said a silent prayer for them. Soon after, the sound of arrows hitting of our shields were no longer.
Then, we charged. Into death? Into victory? The answer wasn't clear. The pike-men layed down their pikes for us to foolishly run into them. I screamed like it was the end of my life... perhaps it was.I jumped over the pikes. I landed a blow on one of their heads. Dead. My sword passed through his helmet easily. Taking it out was another story. I pushed him away with my leg. The sword hesitantly, pulled out of his head.
A few feet ahead of me, I could hear someone yelling. He tried to hit my head. I blocked his sword with a shield preparing to thrust my weapon into his stomach. I succeed in stabbing him in the stomach. He isn't dead though. He spurts out blood before I thrust my sword into his throat and succesfully kill him. I drop my shield and take his weapon.
I slash at random foes that don't last a chance. I look around, we were losing. Our numbers decreased greatly, and even our captain died in the heat of the battle. We were hardened, and ready to accept death. I noticed that they too, did not have as many forces as they used to. They had about 500 before we charged, now they have only about 60 souls left to fight for their village. Even though we had only 20, we didn't care, we were sent to take over the village or die trying. So there I was, slashing down men that never stood a chance against me, my team was slowly depleting till it was only five of us left against ten of them.
The ten surrounded us. The wall of men around us sheilded their bodies with their shield and went for the kill. Again, I yelled at the top of the lungs, I parried their attack and retaliated with my own. One down. I spun increasing my momentum and slashing at the legs of another foe. He fell to the ground bleeding. If I left him there he would've died anyway. I thrusted my blade through his chest and mercifully ended his life. another down. I looked at what was left of our force. Three of us died in that past attack that the foes made. Our opponent only had 5 left. 5 against 2. Two of their five forces came at me. They both leaped in the air trying to take my head. I cover my head with my two blades, barely making it alive. I slash away their weapons from my head and start viciously attacking them. I was screaming at my fullest. While I was attacking one of them, the other behind me tried to attack my head again. I let out a back kick to his stomach. Quickly, I finish him of by decapitating him. The other thrusted his weapon at my stomach. I parried it to the ground and sliced off his arm. Still screaming I yank off his shield and thrust my two weapons through his throat.
My comrade had been struggling to stay alive. He endured several cuts. He managed to kill one of his opponents and was going against two opponents. I jumped in to his aid. He knew I had his ass. He smiled a feint smile and continued to defend himself. I thrusted at the shield that one of my foes had. The two swords broke the wooden barrier and went through his arm as well. I didn't stop there. I managed to keep on pushing my blades into his chest, ending his life. The last man saw it was hopeless. He tried to run, but my comrade had throwing knives in his jacket. Killing him.
Exhausted, we sat down on the ground. We layed down our weapons. "We endured death comrade." My comrade said.
"We did, but for what? We got too much blood on our hands just for this rock."
I got up and started to walk near the nearest corps.
"What are you doing comrade?" My friend asks.
"Burning the dead."
