The girl led me to the nearby village, where I met with all kinds of races; from beastkins to humans to elves. Every race lived inside of the village. The village chief appeared in front of us. “What happened to her?”
“She was attacked by goblins in the nearby mine,” She then pointed at me. “He found her.”
“Okay, get her to Betty’s house and we’ll patch her there.” The village chief ordered. The girl led me to Betty’s house where I dropped off the girl, walking outside. Waiting outside of the house was the village chief. “What’s your name, young man?”
“K-Kris-Kristian, I was in the mines when I found her.” I blurted out.
“I didn’t ask, I want to know why you were there?”
“I discovered it today and I plan to use it as my base. I came across her while on my first mining trip.” I declared. The village chief nodded. The village chief was a man of short stature, standing at four feet height with the features of an eighty-years-old with dark gray balding hair. He stroked his light grey beard that extended a few inches in length.
“I’m assuming that you don’t know much about that mine.” The village chief stated. I nodded my head as he turned around and began to walk away, but he motioned for me to follow him. “That mine is an essential resource for this village. Without it, our village will diminish and soon we’ll die out or be forced to abandon our village. That mine is too dangerous for us to venture through. It has claimed too many casualties. My son was, unfortunately, one of the casualties. Thanks to you, the mine didn’t claim another casualty.” He explained.
“You don’t have to thank me. I happened to come across her before she could be killed by the monsters.”
“I want to initiate a deal with you. I will grant you a house in exchange for resources from the mine.” The chief said.
“A house? That’s too much.”
“For a savior of one of ours, nothing is too much. I’ll even grant you land and a wife.”
“A w-w-w-wi-wi-wife? I don’t need a wife, I’ll take the land.” I stuttered-talked.
“Perfect, I will find land and a house for you soon.” He then extended his hand out to me. “I’m Eric Wilk,” I nodded and shook her hand.
“Hey!” The girl from earlier shouted, motioning for Eric and me to return to Betty’s house and see the wounded girl. We dashed to the house and walked inside, seeing a healthier version of the girl.
The girl looked up at me, staring into my eyes. “Y-y-you are m-my savior?” She asked, her voice sounding weak.
I nodded my head. “I guess so,” She attempted to get up from the bed that she was locked into, but the girl from earlier pushed her down.
“Izabelle! You need to rest!” She shouted.
The wounded girl laid back down on the bed. “I must th-thank you… for sa-saving my life. He is my savior!” I opened my mouth to speak, but a roar from a dragon interrupted me. I froze as screams ignited all over the small village as the roaring of the dragon increased, blasting the eardrums of villagers. I rushed to the outside of the house and looked up into the sky, seeing a fire dragon roaming overhead, igniting fires on the villager’s houses.
