that the attack ended, turned towards the Elemental Feline and charged forward. He grabbed a throwing knife, this one laced with the poison he had used earlier, and waited for a good opportunity to throw it. Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait long as the Elemental Feline backed away, charging another beam - which forced the beast to stay in one spot as the attack charged up; it couldn’t escape from any attacks while it charged up its attack.

Chase used this to his advantage, hurling the knife towards the beast and landing a direct hit on its torso, which dealt little damage. However, the poison on the knife was his main aim.

Mikael, who had watched the knife enter her beast, screamed. “Stop! Stop your attack, you dumb beast! He hit you with poison.” She shouted, alerting the Elemental Feline who hadn’t felt the knife through its thick set of fur and skin.

Although thick, it wasn’t impenetrable. The knife was just long enough to poke through its skin and spread the poison around.

Chase, who had backed away in anticipation of a counterattack, took out another throwing knife. I don’t think the poison’s going to work. I’m going to have to rely on that. He thought to himself. I was hoping to win on my own, but I’m already at a disadvantage and I can’t afford to lose. I’ll be thrown into a pit of hyenas and Ashanti will continue to be bullied. I need to win. He brandished a second throwing knife, this one laced with a blue substance that he prepared beforehand for the fight. It was poison mixed with a certain other substance.

Now prepared, he waited for the second beam to be released. The Elemental Feline, meanwhile, put more distance between Chase and itself, healing itself by using a black element on it. Chase couldn’t recognize the element as easily as he did with the first beam of ice and the second beam of fire. It was a strange blackish-silver-colored element.

“Get him!” Mikael shouted, ordering her beast forward. She wanted the Elemental Feline to use its strength and squish him without resistance. However, her beast was being cautious, unsure of Chase’s strength - which wasn’t much, but his intelligence, particularly his memory, was what made him strong.

Chase, on the other hand, waited for an opportunity to reveal itself, but the wait took longer than the first one. Unlike the first time, the Elemental Feline was catching up to his tricks and wouldn’t use any abilities that made it a target, even if the attacks dealt little damage. Instead, he was forced to move first. He decided to brandish another throwing knife, hurling it forward as a diversion. As he did, he moved the throwing knives in his hands around as he neared the beast - another diversion trick.

The Elemental Feline caught the first diversion, swiftly avoiding the knife, before charging forward. It kept an eye on the knives he carried, unsure if one of them was laced with a different poison.

“Yes! Slaughter him!” Mikael shouted, happy to see her beast on the offense. Ashanti, on the other hand, furrowed her brows. What is his plan? How does he think he can face an Elemental Feline… but he did defeat a Fenrir and a Nine-Tail Fox, so I’m sure he has something up his sleeve. Yeah, he’ll be fine. He told me he’ll protect me… He’ll be here to protect me… When will it be my time to protect him?

Meanwhile, Chase threw another non-poisoned knife at Elemental Feline, trying to dart to the right before the Elemental Feline smashed into him. However, the beast was faster than him, about to collide with him and ending the round in a simple strength-filled attack. It would end with Mikael winning, Ashanti bullied, and Chase dead somehow.

He shook his head, gritting his teeth. “You won’t kill me easily!” He declared, pushing forward. He was forging the opportunity he needed.

He threw the other non-laced throwing knife at the Elemental Feline, left with the blue poisoned knife. He had no other knives or weapons on him, throwing all of his hopes and energy into the last knife in his arsenal. If he missed his attack, he would fail and Mikael would win. If he succeeded, he would win and Ashanti would no longer have to deal with the bully trio. However, that’s only if he won, which hinged on his last attack.

Chase raised the knife, waiting until the beast was close enough to strike. Once he was, he struck at the beast - the knife penetrated the beast’s skin and quickly spread the poison into its thick skin.

The Elemental Feline stopped immediately, its momentum carrying it towards the edge of the arena, crashing into Chase and bringing him along for the ride. Fortunately, however, they avoided flying out of bounds and having the fight end in a draw. They skidded to a stop, both still within the bounds of the arena.

Chase looked up at the beast and noticed that its eyes were glaring down at him, but quickly the eyes shifted down to the wound. It began licking at the wound, surprising everybody. Unbeknownst to everybody, Chase had mixed poison and catnip to create the blue substance on the knife. The smell of the catnip attracted the beast and now it was poisoning itself faster and faster. It was Chase’s win.

Ejak, who had been watching everything unfold, came to the same conclusion. “Mikael’s Elemental Feline is poisoned and unfit to fight. Chase wins this round and ascends to the fourth and final round against Lucas and his three-headed dragon.” He declared, shutting everything down and calling in the cleaners.

Mikael and Ashanti were lowered, both rushing to meet their summons. Mikael sobbed at the death of her beast while Ashanti hugged Chase and sobbed into his shoulder. “I knew you would win.” She said tearfully.

Chase embraced her. “Thank you. Now you’re free of them. They can’t bully you anymore.” He told her.

Ashanti nodded, her face still on his shoulder. If they follow the bets… I’m free of their torture. I can’t believe it. I’m free. I’m actually free. It’s all thanks to him. Chase gave me a fresh start. He made me a new person… I get to see the next chapter of my life. Praise the Heavens for him… Praise them for giving me, Chase.

Episode Fifty Six "The Era of Witches S1 E5 - Striker Inbound"

Four Cursed Deers appeared out of nowhere, alarming the group. Kat screamed as the deers barged towards them, rearing their ugly heads. They charged towards Aksel, who stood in the front of the group. He held his sword in front of him, blocking the first deer’s attack. The antlers of the deer bounced off the sword before the second deer charged ahead of the first, colliding with Aksel’s sword.

“Aksel!” Liliana shouted, taking a step forward. Roman grabbed her arm, pulling her back. Liliana stared at Roman with furrowed eyes. “We need to help him!” She shouted.

Roman shook his head, his eyes focused on Aksel. “He’ll be fine. All you’ll do is get him killed.” He declared. Liliana shook her head before trying to fight his grip.

“He… He can still use our help!” She argued. Roman still shook his head, gripping her arm tighter. He yanked her a few feet from her original position. She let out a short yelp as she was raised into the air before landing back on the ground.

Now on the ground, she ripped her hand free from Roman’s grip, scowling at him, before focusing her attention on what was in front of her.

Aksel, meanwhile, took the brunt of the attack. The Cursed Deers used their antlers, some embedded with small doses of poison - usually not lethal, but large intakes would kill the person. Fortunately, however, Aksel avoided being touched by the poisoned antlers by parrying every blow with his sword. He took steps back as he fought them, each clink of the antlers against the sword echoed throughout the forest.

Aksel parried several more blows, moving the group out of the forest before one attack passed his defenses. All of the deer struck simultaneously, suddenly, and Aksel wasn’t able to fend them all off. One set of antlers pierced his gut, spraying its poison into his flesh. “Damn,” He muttered, kicking at the deer’s leg. The deer collapsed to the ground but recovered quickly. It followed its packmates, attacking Aksel to no avail.

“You okay?” Roman asked, glancing around. He wasn’t sure if any more monsters were waiting for them nearby. “Aksel, are you good?”

“Yes, I’m good. It’s just a superficial wound, nothing more.” He glanced at Roman. “Get them out of here before the deer attract more attention.” He ordered.

Roman hesitated for a few seconds before nodding his head. He turned to face the girls. “Let’s go.” He grabbed both of their arms, leading them away from Aksel. Kat fought back while Liliana willingly went along with him. She knew better than to fight against her father at that moment. Kat, on the other hand, didn’t know better. She continued to fight his grip, eventually able to release herself after several moments of trying.

She turned away from him, racing towards Aksel. “I’m not leaving you behind. I can help.” She declared, beginning her chant. However, the deers noticed her and struck quickly. Unlike the slave trader, the deers wouldn’t be easy to take down.

Aksel, seeing that the deers changed targets, moved to block their attacks aimed at Kat - who didn’t notice that she had put herself in danger.

“I won’t let you!” Aksel shouted as he jumped in front of the deers with his sword close to his chest, which took the brunt of the damage. Some of the damage transferred to Aksel, giving him more wounds and scars on his torso.

“Get out of here!” Aksel shouted, trying his best to push the deer back to little results. The deer had moved together, their antlers pointed at Aksel. They charged forward, throwing everything into the attack. Aksel responded by preparing himself for it, moving the sword to deflect as much as he could. Behind him stood Kat still chanting, unaware of what was happening in front of her.

“Roman, get her!” Aksel barked. Roman nodded, pressing forward and grabbing her arm. He pulled her away.

Kat, who was nearly done with her chanting, snapped out of it. She turned her head towards Roman with an irritated expression. “Why did you stop me? I was almost-” She stopped as she noticed Liliana’s teary eyes. She turned her head towards Aksel, seeing the damage inflicted on him, some of it because of her. “What… What happened?”

Roman shook his head disapprovingly. “I already said it… All you would do by jumping into the fight is get him killed.”

Kat nodded, biting her lips. “I’m sorry,” She said with a defeated tone.

“Now that you get it, leave!” Aksel barked as he faced the deers head-on, their antlers poking at his ribs, but not doing fatal damage. He barely managed to parry every fatal strike. However, he felt like his luck was slowly running out. “Get out of here!” He glared at the deers as they made a second charge, using what bits they had left in them. “Get them
