Chapter 1

“Mommy, mommy look it’s a butterfly.” I watched as a little girl exclaimed to her mom showing the blue butterfly on her hand. I watched as a little girl exclaimed to her mom showing the blue butterfly on her hand. Her mom placed her finger to hers and the butterfly walked to her hand. Her daughter jumped around excitingly, “Oh mom what kind is it?” She giggled and got closer to the butterfly letting it crawl on her nose.

“That is the blue Morpheus butterfly, and I think she likes you.” Her mother smiled and then the butterfly flew away. The little girl smiled and hugged her mom, “Oh I love you.” She kissed and embraced her making my eyes water.

I always wanted a child, and I did try many of times, but the doctor told me that my eggs were infertile and I couldn’t have a baby. I yelled at him and when I got home I cried. Ever since then I seen couples with their kids and they were so happy, so I cried knowing I couldn’t be that happy. My husband told me to adopt one and I considered it but it still wouldn’t be the same I mean I’d love it but not the same love I’d have for my own child my DNA. After a week my husband called the adoption center and adopted twins boy and a girl, he said that they’ll be her in three days or less.

I sobbed once more until my phone rang. I wiped my tears and calmed down a bit before answering, “Lilith, its James come to Old Maple road you might wanna see this.” He hung up before I could answer, so I hurried to my car it sounded urgent so I didn’t want to keep him waiting.

As I hurried down Old Maple I received a text ‘kids are here, really early huh?’ I smiled and told him I’ll be there in a bit. I looked up and saw a wolf. I quickly stopped my car making me go forward and hitting my head against the steering wheel. I looked up slowly and seen a black wolf staring at me its green eyes looked like it was filled with excitement and wonder. I put my hand to my head and saw blood I looked back up and the wolf disappeared, so I sighed and started my car again.

I finally slowed down watching police men coming out and seen blacks come up. I see James so I cleaned up my head and ran up to him, “Why is the FBI here, what happened?” He put his arm around me as we walked to the black coat. James showed our badge so he let us in. I walked up to what appeared to be a piece of red cloth and blood splatter everywhere, with a photo of a little girl and her mother.I covered my mouth from the stench; I also fought back the tears in my eyes. Who would do such a terrible thing? “Who would do this?” I asked in disgust, looking closely at the red cloth it looked like it been clawed to pieces.

“Maybe it was the big bad wolf.” James raised his eyebrow at me, pointing at a wolf print next to the blood splatter. I sighed and rubbed my fingers through my hair, he had to be joking right the big bad wolf is just a story nothing more. “You think he considers adult red riding hoods?” He smiled at me. Oh no, he wasn’t actually considering using me as bait, just when I thought my job couldn’t get any worse.

I told James I’d consider it, so he automatically took it as a yes and went out to by me a little red riding hood outfit; this was going to be fun. As I pulled in the driveway I seen my husband and the kids waiting outside.
