-Avery Coriander-
9:30 A.M.
"Avery... you're not going to believe this." Elizabeth's voice rang through the cell phone.
I had just called her back after receiving her frantic text message about something that had happened to her the night before.
"Ellie. Try me." I said
"....There was a man in my room last night."
I almost dropped my phone, not wanting to believe the words that had just come out of her mouth. But I never doubted Ellie.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yes, Avery! We had a full-fledged conversation. And there's one more thing. This is the part you won't believe... He claimed to be Poseidon." She said, struggling to get the last part out.
"Who-to-the what now?" I stuttered.
"I'm not lying, Avery. I was about to call the police when he said he was there to give you a warning. Said someone was coming for you... he wanted you to be prepared. Then he just...left. Do you think he's telling the truth?"
"I don't... I don't know, Ellie. He sounds more like a lunatic to me, but I'll keep my guard up. I'm going to take a shower. I'll... call you later."
And with that I hung up.
I grabbed my towel and bathrobe and started rummaging through my dresser drawers when I heard footsteps downstairs. It couldn't be...
Grabbing the bat that I kept behind my closet door, I slowly and quietly crept downstairs to face the intruder.
Unfortunately, all too soon soon I caught myself gawking at a tall, well-built, unnaturally beautiful man. His long, disheveled dark brown hair refusing to get in the way of his striking blue-green eyes. He wasn't wearing a shirt or shoes, but he was wearing black pants, giving me full view of every defined muscle on his arms, back, and torso.
He pretended he hadn't seen me enter the room, but I knew he had.
"Let me guess... Poseidon?" I asked.
He turned to look at me, an amused smirk lighting up his face.
"Oh, no. I'm Loki."
