“Another day of this blasted hell hole.” Malachi thought to her self as she put a new clip into her gun. Malachi was a werewolf and one of the very few that remained. She holstered her gun and leaned down to double-check on her knives that were inside her boots. She stood up straight, cracked her knuckles and checked her black leather gauntlets for their small knives as well. She grabbed her sword and sheathed it on her back for easy access.
She looked outside. It would be another cold, starless night like it usually was. As the moon light shone down on what used to be New York, she looked around. The city that used to be bustling with life was now just a crumbling wasteland. Empty car littered the street. Newspapers, papers, and weeds fluttered along the sidewalks.
Then a long howl broke the dead silence. She grabbed her trench coat and put it on as she walked down the hallway. Once outside she looked around.
Another long howl pierced the silence. She started running in the direction the howl had come from. The howl was definitely a male’s. She stopped and sniffed. A pungent odor filled her nostrils. She narrowed her eyed and slowly looked around. There was a tattered shirt lying on the ground. She picked it up and sniffed it. The blood on the shirt was the same odor that filled her nostrils.
Then a man stumbled out from behind a taxi cab startling her.
“Please, help me.” The man gasped as collapsed to the ground.
Malachi walked over to the man and kneeled. Usually she wouldn’t care about a human, but there was something about him that she felt needed to be noticed.
He was bleeding and all he was wearing was some remnants of tattered jeans. She examined him. He had medium brown hair, ice blue eyes, and slightly tanned skin. Then she noticed that the blood wasn’t his. There was blood all around his mouth and all down his chest. She sniffed again. The blood had a hint of estrogen in it. It was a woman’s blood.
“You have to help me.” He said holding out his hand. It was covered in blood. This time it was his. There was a gaping bite wound on his side. He had been bitten a few days ago and had just gone through his first transformation.
“What’s your name?” Malachi asked as she poured water from her canteen onto his wound.
He grimaced and hoarsely said, “Raider…my name’s Raider Sproxton.” Malachi paused. His name sounded familiar, but she couldn’t place it.
“Well Raider, My name is Malachi.” She picked up his head and examined his eyes. They were still returning to their ice blue. “I’m a lycan, as are you, and you’ve just gone through your first transformation. You’re confused, am I right?” She asked as tore off a strip of her shirt and used it to wrap around his waist.
He gasped as pain seared through his body.
“Come now, get up.” She said standing up and helping him up, “We’d better get you cleaned up before you attract any other unwanted creatures.” She wrapped his arm around her neck so she could help him walk.
“Do you remember what happened when you were bitten?” She asked.
Raider groaned. It had almost been two days since he’d been bitten but the wound wouldn’t’ heal. “I was walking, and I heard a noise. I turned around but there wasn’t anyone there.” He said. “Then I was attacked from behind. I tried to fight him off, but my attacker was too strong, then he bit me and the attack stopped. The …werewolf…had disappeared.”
“Well, once we get back to my place you can get cleaned up and take a rest to save up your energy.” She said.
“Alright.”

Once they had arrived at Malachi’s apartment, she showed him the shower. She left him and walked down the street to a nearby Motorcycle shop. She looked around and picked out a pair of pants, a T-shirt, leather boots and a leather trench coat.
When she got back she found him sitting in a chair wrapped in a towel with beads of water glistening on his fully toned pecs and abs.
“Here you go.” She said handing him the clothing.
“Thanks.” He said taking them.
She turned her back to him as he changed.
“Good fit.” He said. She turned around. He studied her. She wasn’t that bad looking. She had long dark brown hair, red almost black eyes, fair skin, and was about 5’5”.
“You need to rest so your wound can heal and you can save up your energy because pretty soon, you’re going to need it.” She said walking past him to show him where he could sleep.

After he had fallen asleep, Malachi walked out into her living room and proceeded to contact her advisor, Tanis.
“Tanis?” Malachi said, reaching out with her mind. “I have found another that seems to have been bitten by the rogue lycan.”
“I shall be there in a few moments.” Tanis replied using telepathy.
