I walk down the clear crystal stair case. My elegant dark blue dress floating around my ankles. As I look up I see my mother and father wearing gold crowns. I reach up and touch my head, I am wearing a silver and gold tiara. Then I notice the people around my parents, they weren't people they were creatures. Animals standing on two feet wearing formal clothing, fairies and pixies, griffins, fairy tale characters, and other mythical creatures. They started saying my name over and over again; Megan, Megan, Megan... Megan wake up! Then my dream world broke and I came back to reality.
When I opened my eyes I saw my mom sitting next to me on my bed. "Get up and get dressed because... it's moving day!" She said in an excited tone. "Mom when are you actually going to tell me where you're moving me?" I asked. "When we get there!" my mom answered in a hasty voice, then walked out of the room. I lazily got out of bed and put on my blue t-shirt, a pair of jeans, my dark blue converse, and my gray jacket, then walked out of my room and to the completely packed up kitchen. "All of our stuff is in the u-haul and car except for our mattresses, blankets and pillows, so could you help me move them please?" mom asked in a polite and calm tone. My mom abandoned me when I was little and left me all alone, well not completely alone my dad raised me, up until the accident. He was killed when he fell of the window washers platform he worked on. He was up on a 15 stories high hotel, it happened a year ago. Then my mom comes out of nowhere and tries to wiggle her way back into my life like she hasn't been gone for the past--! For the past year shes been trying to bond with me, make up for the years shes missed. Now shes moving me away from my friends and school, and she says shes moving me to the town she was in for the past 15 years! She says she'll explain everything once we get to the mystery destination.
We walked up stairs to my room, I folded the blanket, sheet, bed cover, and pillow case then put them in a box marked Megan with the words 'bed spread' in parentheses. I did the same with my moms bed spread and she took the mattresses down to the u-haul. I carried the boxes down to the u-haul and put them with the mattresses. "We got everything?" I asked. "I think so. Do you want to check again?" "No i'm good!" I said not wanting to go back into the house. We hopped into the car and started driving. "I found this in the bathroom." Mom said handing me my dream journal (I know it sounds lame but thats what it is) I lost it yesterday. I got a pencil from my backpack and started to write my dream down before forgot it. Lastly I put the date in the right hand corner of the paper, september, 25, 2002. When I looked up we were somewhere in the forest going down a two lane road. "Where are we?" I asked suspiciously. Mom smiled and said, "We're five minutes away from our destination!" I saw a town forming in the distance, as we got closer I saw a sign that said now entering Levaria. We came to the town, it looked perfectly normal, then I got a closer look at its inhabitants. They were the creatures and people from my dreams. They were staring at us some of them were smiling and some of them were not. "Where are we!" I almost yelled in fear. "I will tell you when we get there!" "How long will that take! I'm tired of all the suspense, where the hell are we?!" I asked angrily. She stared at me with a look of surprise for a moment then looked ahead. I turned my head to look the direction she was looking, we were out of the town now and in front of us was a huge medieval looking castle. I looked back at her as she parked in what seemed to be a court yard filled with flowers in every color of the rainbow. I immediately got out of the car and looked around. "Megan could you please follow me I want to sit down and explain everything, I know you must have so many questions.
I don't know why but I followed her even though I felt like running into the forest and never coming out. She lead me to a long hallway, the floor was made of the same clear-crystal material i saw in my dream. I was lead to a room filled with glass cases full of tea sets. (This must be the high tea room) there were two couches made of what looked like snow and the table was made of a crafted tree trunk that had a smooth glossy surface the sides were tree trunk bark covered in green moss. I looked worriedly at the snow couch. My mom saw me staring and said, "Its not snow its winter fur it may look like snow but its a special kind of wool that comes from a winter sheep, your great great great grandfather had it made, its been in our family for generations. Winter sheep are very rare. I sat down still expecting to fall through, but I didn't. Mom sat on the one across from me. "Pick a tea set you like and I'll have Jared our butler make us tea. She said motioning to the man in a butler uniform. I looked at all of the glass cases. My gaze fell upon a silver and gold decorated tea set. I pointed at it and Jared walked over and carefully took the tea set out of the glass case, then walked out of the room. "Here is the reason i was gone for so long, why i wasnt there for you when you were growing up." She sighed, "I am the queen of this castle, this kingdom, this land... I am the queen of Osikyria. I've been ruling ever since my mother died when I was 20. Shortly after that, I got married to my true love, your father. He and I became king and queen of the kingdom. Five years later we had you! Your father wanted to spend several years in the human world to do a study on animal behavior and compare it to the research he did on animal behavior here. I wanted your father to take you with him so you could have a normal life, so you wouldn't feel the pressures of being brought up royally and having the stress of big decisions. When your father died I decided to go there and take care of you and bond with you so you would feel more comfortable when we moved here. My brother, Ranco watched over the kingdom while I was gone. Now that we're back he'll hand the kingdom back over to my ruling and we'll live in the castle together and I'll teach you how to rule and take care of the kingdom. I've already enrolled you in the local school system, Ranko thought you would like it more than a private tutor, give you a chance to make new friends make you feel more... normal."
I took a few minutes to take it all in. How does she expect me to not. All I could think about is why did they keep this from me all my life, why not just tell me that mom was a queen and then keep me in the human world. I need to clear my head, i ran out of the room and out the large front doors into the courtyard almost running into Jared who was carrying the tea set full of hot steamy tea. I felt like I was going to cry but no tears came out, I got to the edge of the forest. I decided to flip a coin to decide whether to go into town (heads) or run off into the woods (tails), I took a quarter out of my pocket and flipped it into the air. When it hit the ground it spun on its edge for a few seconds then stopped, standing tall on its edge in between heads or tails... "great just my luck!" I decided to head into town, I zipped up my sweater halfway and flipped my hood over my head and began to walk. The town was quieter now then it was earlier, more people have gone home and some stores have closed but I still saw people (and creatures) walking around. Several shops and café's were still opened and full of people. The town was smaller than the town I used to live in, but it was still ok I guess. I looked into the windows of the shops, the people looked more normal and modern than I would have thought for a town that is still ruled by a queen living in an old castle. I got to the edge of town I looked around one last time and noticed people were staring at me, I don't know why I looked like a perfectly normal brown hair brown eyed 15 year old girl. I looked down at my clothes then I noticed it, it was my moon necklace that my mom (or dad) gave to me when I was one year old. It was glowing blue then suddenly it clicked and changed into a dark black color like a new moon. People stopped staring at me and returned to walking down the sidewalk, I continued walking to the edge of the forest. As I was walking I got a strange growing pain in my joints and muscles and neck. I closed my eyes and winced as the pain grew larger and fell to the ground, my legs and arms felt shorter and stronger. I opened my eyes the pain was nearly gone, everything was vivid like it was still daytime. I could smell the aromas of the trees and my surroundings so much clearer, I turned around and I could hear the conversations the people across the street. They also looked taller than before. I looked down at myself but I was not myself. My hands were the huge white paws of a wolf, panicked I ran into the forest hoping no one saw me. I don't know how long I was running but I came up to a clearing, in the center of the clearing was a shallow looking pool of water. Over the water was a solid, flat rock. I walked up to it now noticing how tired I was. I climbed up onto the rock and curled up into a ball, my thick white fur warming me as I fell asleep.
