It was foggy. I reached my hand out and tried to wave it away, but no matter how hard I tried, it wouldn’t go anywhere, wouldn’t move. I gave up and started walking forward. I hoped there wasn’t a cliff nearby. The scent of blood stopped me in my tracks. Where was I? Did I kill anyone? Who was dead? Was I the one that was dead? Was I an unearthly spirit now, wandering around, waiting for someone to find my body?

“Why would you assume someone was dead?” A voice came from the fog behind me. I turned on my heel and saw a guy who looked like he was in his early twenties, with dark wavy hair and a very athletic build. His muscles peeked through his navy blue t-shirt. I would’ve found him very attractive if it weren’t for the bloody knife in his hand. He caught me looking at it and smiled wickedly. “Don’t worry; I won’t hurt a hair on your little cute head.”
“Wh-where am I?” My voice quavered with fear.
“Same place you were when you were awake.” He answered back. I was asleep?

“Yes, you’re asleep.”
“How can you hear my thoughts?”
“You’re very easy to tap into. Very… vulnerable.” His words sent a chill up my spine. “Want to come see how alive he is?” The guy waved his hand over his shoulder. I shook my head. I didn’t want to see some helpless bloody person! “Come on.” He growled, and suddenly I was being dragged over to a terrible sight.
“Jason!” I screamed. He was lying on the ground with that ugly gash on his forehead. It was open this time and blood was pouring onto the ground. He was trying to staunch the blood flow, but it wasn’t working. He looked up at me and I saw the terror in his eyes. He didn’t recognize me, though. That much I knew.
“H-help me…” He croaked out. I tried to run forward, but the guy with the knife grabbed hold of my shirt and threw me back. I landed in a heap on the ground. I lifted my head up and saw the guy advancing on Jason. I crawled inch by inch. Jason saw me and tried to shake his head as much as he could. No!

I thought. Wait, that wasn’t my thought, it was Jason’s. I watched helplessly as the guy brought down the knife one last time, slicing his already bleeding head. And just like that, Jason was gone.
The guy started toward me.
“Who are you?” I whispered.
“You’ll find out real soon, sweetheart.” He raised the handle of the blade and swung down hard.
And just like that, I was gone, too.
