Wishing

Azura splashed up out of the water as the liquid beads fell from her body. The empty cottage on the hill now had amber hues in the windows. She looked up and noticed strangers on the shore. The couple seemed in need of nothing and no one else. She observed them closely, always touching and kissing; so much in love. She had an aching, and longed for a love of her own. Azura remembered being warned of strangers, but had no fear, and continued to swim as she always had. She coaxed them to join her in the warm waters.

Wondering

Stormy skies rolled in, blanketing the golden rays of the sun, and the angry sky spewed torrents of water carried by the wind. Today there were no friends on the shore, and Azura’s visibility of the cottage was hampered as the rain pounded her face. The waters were so very powerful, swallowing the beach, and slamming the rocks on the shore. The winds picked up small trees and debris, tossing them violently to the ground. Her new friends’ home stood still against the mighty gale as it had for many years. She knew they were safe in each other’s arms.

Discovering

Expectantly she swam to the cove by the cottage as the new day dawned. The sky was draped with a rainbow that dipped down behind the bungalow. The beach was pristine and showed no sign of the violent storm. Her eyes were drawn to a large rock jutting out over the water exhibiting a present. Shells, the ocean’s jewels were strung together beautifully. Beaming she swam up to the rock and removed the necklace and wore it, looking to the beach she saw her name scrawled in the sand. This was a new feeling she experienced a love for mankind
