Chapter 1.
“Erin, Hurry up!”Lilly shouted. Placing their lunch by the door, she looked at the stairs, waiting for a certain ginger haired, emerald eyed girl to emerge. No such luck. “Sorry, I'll be down in a minute” Erin shouted while tying her two pigtails with large, black bows. “She's always sorry this, sorry that!”Complained an ill tempered brunet. She narrowed her pitch black eyes at the ancient clock that ticked time away. Not that it mattered to her, she just wanted to have a go at the childish ginger haired brat.
“If your not down here in 5 seconds we're leaving without you,” Snapped Sarah without taking her eyes of the novel she was reading. “Shit!”The voice from upstairs replied. With graceful elegance Erin swung herself over the banister from the top of the stairs and jumped down onto the wooden floor. “Finally!” Jade exclaimed. “If you had come out any later I would of dragged you down by your pigtails.” Erin sighed, she had gotten used to Jade's meaningless threats in a few days but after living with her for over three weeks...well...they could get irritating. “I already said sorry and it wasn't entirely my fault.”
“Then who's fault is it?”Sarah questioned, The ginger haired female pointed at Jade and Sarah looked up. “Hers.” she stated simply,
“What the flip?” Jade snapped.
“You were in my room yesterday weren’t you?” Asked Erin,
“Well yeah but.”
“And my alarm didn't wake me up on time either,”Her emerald eyes narrowed at Jade. “I wonder why?” She retorted with a strong hint of sarcasm.
“Hey guys, lets just go.” Lilly smiled trying to stop the conflict between the two heated as well as dangerous females. She knew if Erin was angry her abilities would double and Jade would be helpless against her. “Fine!” Exclaimed the ginger girl starting to dress in her warm school jumper and cotton scarf. “I heard it's quite chilly outside so dress up warmly.” Lilly said matter of factly. On that note the four friends exited the pleasant warmth of their historic home, only to be met with the complete opposite.
The freezing winter wind greeted them bitterly all the while biting at their naked skin. No matter how high they pulled their scarves up, part of their face was still left exposed, turning their cheeks a rosy red colour. Their feet scrunched through the knee deep white blanket, it's scrunching sound disturbing the perfect silence of the isolated forest. “How about a race to warm ourselves up?” Asked Jade while rubbing her gloved hands together.
“Doesn't seem like a bad idea,” Lilly chirped adjusting her scarf and bag.
“I don't mind either,” The usually quiet raven haired girl but in. However Jade didn't care if they participated in the race or not, her only intention was to race the simple minded Erin and Erin only. The emerald eyed girl excelled her in everything. If Jade got a silver medal, Erin got gold. If Jade got an A on a test, Erin got an A*. If Jade had a few guys interest, Erin had a whole fan club. The young brunette was jealous that the stupid ginger got everything.
“Hey stupid,” Jade turned and addressed her rival.
“What?” Erin snapped.
“Aren't you going to participate?”
“With the likes of you? Hells no.” She sighed.
“Why little girl, are you afraid that I'll beat you?” taunted Jade.
Erin got angry, 'I'll never lose to this selfish idiot.' she thought while fixing her bag strap ready for the race. “Your on.”
“On your marks, get set.” All four of them shouted in unison. “GO!” The young girls ran faster than the speed of light. Erin was in the lead and that's when Jade decided got pissed. Plants grew faster than nature would allow and tried to twist around Erin's ankles to trip her. Trees swung their branches at her to slow her pace down but Erin continued running while dodging every obstacle in her way.
'Darn it, at this rate she's going to win.' thought Jade, 'come on muscles, just a bit more.' She urged her body to run but it was too late. Erin touched the school gate followed by the rest. Jade sank to her knees and shouted angrily at nothing in particular while tears formed in her eyes. “Darn it! What makes her so special huh?” She started sobbing “Why can't I still beat the crap out of her.” Erin walked up to Jade and before she knew it a red mark was on one of the brunettes cheek, “Get a hold of your self Jade!” Erin screamed. “Are you a flipping wimp?” Jade placed a hand where Erin's slap stung.
The ginger girl knelled down next to her and gave her a hug. “You just have to try harder and harder until you beat the living crap out of me, okay?” Erin tried to assure her usually brutal friend. “Your right.” Sniffed Jade. “Someday I'll beat you Erin Winter, just you wait!”
“That's the spirit, Now lets go before the sun comes and burns us to ashes.”
“But, didn't the Vampire Government create pills for you. You know, to make you half human during the day?” Jade asked confused.
“Yeah, but you guys refuse to take them so YOUR gonna burn to ashes.” Erin sighed face palming. “She's got a point Jade, so hurry up will ya?” Sarah looked at her sternly. Climbing to her feet the four vampires made their way into the building.
Chapter 2 – Castle.
'Darn it,' thought a certain brown haired vampire while clicking his pen away. “Kyle!” Shouted Simon, his voice echoing through his empty chambers. In a short while Kyle appeared leaning casually against his door, “You called brother,” Kyle didn't ask it, he stated.
“Don't you dare call the likes of you my brother.” Simon spat. “You half breed.”
“But we share the same blood, don't we bro?” Kyle mimicked mickey mouse's voice.
“This is the last time I'll say it Kyle Launders.” Simon's voice was harsh. “You're. Not. My. Brother.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Kyle smirked showing his sharp canines. “So why did you call the 'likes of me' your majesty?” He did an exaggerated bow.
“I know for a fact that there's a pure blood in Phillips Boarding School.” Simon laughed.
“So?” Sighed Kyle, clearly bored of his older brother's presence on Earth.
“I want you to get rid of it.”
“Say what?” Kyle was shocked. “You can't go killing other vampires just 'cause you want to.”
“Your point?” Simon snapped while clenching his hand in a fist. “Father wanted ME to change this vampire race, make it better and that's what I'm doing.”
“Did he exactly say, 'Simon son, go kill every pure blood?'” Kyle used his voice and facial expressions to create a like version of their father. “I don't think so brother, and I'm not going to go do your dirty work for you either.” He said harshly while pointing a finger at the golden eyed jerk.
“Fine.” He paused, “I'll go ask Elizabeth, I'm sure she won't have a problem with my request.”
Kyle looked away from Simon's intimidating golden eyes and decided to stare at the wall instead. “Since when did the wall become SO interesting?” Asked Simon mockingly.
“Okay.” Kyle sighed while digging his nails into his palm.
“Okay what, Kyle?”
“Fine I'll bloody do it.” The raven headed 16 year old stared at the family member who he despised. “Good.” Simon smiled, clearly pleased that this talk had actually gotten somewhere unlike all the other conversations, which usually ended in throwing objects at each other.
Kyle walked into his room all the while cursing under his breath. 'That selfish bastard, who does he think he is ordering ME around and sending ME to kill some innocent person.' he thought while slamming open the door to his private chambers. “Master Kyle?” Asked a female voice, “What is it now Elizabeth?” Kyle questioned emotionless.
“I heard your going on a mission.” She stated and started fiddling with the hem of her maid's uniform. “Yeah, what about it?” Kyle's voice was harsh and that set the young female into quite sobs. But unfortunately with Kyles good hearing, which sometimes came in handy, he heard when her voice faltered and when the crying stopped. “Master Kyle,” She started in hiccups, “Make sure to come back safely.” Elizabeth then ran out of his room and headed towards the kitchen where Simon stopped her in her tracks.
“Oi!” He barked. The hair at the nape of her neck stood up “Where were you just now?” Elizabeth refused to look up knowing too well that if he saw her crying, he'll slap her. “Good evening Master Simon,” She caught her hiccups in time, “I was wishing Master Kyle a safe journey and packed all the necessary things he'll need.” She felt his golden eyes inspecting her, to see if she was lying but he could detect nothing. “Hmph,” Was his reply before walking off. She refused to think of things like 'so glad he didn't clock.' or 'thank god he didn't hurt me.' Because she knew that being a vampire he could listen in on her thoughts.
After the hall was clear of his presence, she made her way to her tiny chambers instead where she cried all her problems into a pillow. “Why is he so mean?” She kept questioning her self. “He clearly knows how I feel, yet...” The door handle started to shake, twist and turn. She quickly made her bed presentable and rushed into the toilet. When the door opened Elizabeth flushed it to make it seem like she used the loo. Running the tap and washing her red eyes away, she smiled into the mirror, seeing if she seemed decent enough. Brushing her short black hair and quickly straightening her uniform, she opened the door. Kyle was sitting on her bed with a photo album.
“Oh, hi Kyle,” She tried to seem cheerful. He kept quite, “Have fun on your mission.” His raven bangs blocked her view of his stunning crimson eyes. Still he said nothing but instead closed the photo album placing it exactly where he took it from. Then he got up and stood in front of her, “Hey Liz.” His voice came out softer than her last encounter with him. He pulled her by her hand into a quick hug. One of his hands on her head, gently patting it and the other around her waist. Elizabeth was shocked, she was sure that her whole face was red from embarrassment but to feel his strong arms around her was worth everything she's been through with Simon.
“Take care my little raven,” He whispered pulling away as quickly as he'd swooped in. “And I swear, if that bastard lays a finger on you, I won't even consider on spearing his life.” She smiled but knew that to Kyle she was nothing more than a version of a sister and that killed her more than anything.
He left her dazed in her own room, she missed his warmth already but was glad that she had at least witnessed his caring side even if it lasted a short while. Simon was in front of the grand doors. “Take care Kyle.” was all he said while ushering him out. 'Darn it, I should of taken Liz with me. Who knows what that brutal bastard is capable of.' thought Kyle while slinging his
