than she felt.

She wore a thin and flexible set of armor that she had etched her name into. She etched the names of her parents on one shoulder each. Her name was etched into the middle of the armor and another name, this one of her boyfriend, was etched over her heart.

She had dark brown hair that flowed to her waist, the middle parted like her hair underwent a civil war. Both sides of her hair inched closer and closer to her parents' names.

“Got it!” Virginia shouted, thrusting her bonded weapon forward. She had been bonded with the Redmoon Long Spear, a good weapon for a future Aerial Knight. While riding on a pegasus, spears and lances were the most sought out weapon. Swords and bows were used by Aerial Knights but very rarely.

Jane looked around, feeling something at the back of her neck. She felt the gaze of someone nearby but wasn’t sure where it was coming from. She searched the area with her eyes, skimming past sections until she found the origin of the cause. A brunette girl was peeking out from behind a wall at them. She ducked behind the wall as quickly as Jane caught a glance at her.

A brunette? What does she want? She looked young… Maybe a classmate? Jane turned back to face Virginia, who was busy thrusting the Redmoon Long Spear forward. She was training her body to adjust to the weight of the spear. It was heavier than it looked.

“Hey, Virginia, stop for a moment.” Virginia stopped, the spear’s tip hitting the ground. She was losing strength in her arms. The spear began its day by pointing at the sky but, over many hours, pointed at the dirt.

Virginia nodded her head, sweat running down her face and body. “Yes, master?”

“By chance, do you have a brunette classmate? A shy female?” Jane questioned.

Virginia furrowed her brows, tilting her head. “What does that have to do with my training?”

Jane shook her head. “Somebody’s watching us, but it’s not anybody dangerous. A girl your age has been staring at us, but I don’t think she’s recording our actions. Maybe she’s a reporter for some gossip agency.” She said. She was talking about the newly invented newspaper agency, but her opinion wasn’t as high as others. She only saw gossip and rumors floating around the agency. Because of them, the Angel’s Cruelty event was well-known, causing more friction between the party and more public outcry. Zane, one of the members, fled without being arrested and tried. She didn’t like this, knowing that a criminal was still on the loose because the agency covered the event.

Virginia noticed a stare, looking in the same direction that Jane had. There she noticed a familiar face of a classmate. “Ashlee?” She asked out loud. “Why are you hiding?” Ashlee, who had peeked out from behind a wall, ducked away from sight.

Virginia shook her head, taking a step towards Ashlee. She tried to take another step, but she collapsed to her knees instead. Training had zapped the energy out of her, leaving her tired and hungry.

Jane shook her head playfully, staring at Virginia. “Come on, you collapsed so soon?”

Virginia looked up at Ashlee with a small smile. “I can’t do as many thrusts as you can.”

“Come on, you can’t do 10,000 of them? You make it seem like it’s that hard.” She turned away from Virginia, headed towards the wall shielding Ashlee. “Hello… Ashlee? Yeah, Ashlee. Do you mind coming out, we aren’t going to hurt you or anything.”

Ashlee revealed herself, dressed in casual clothes. She wore a pink tee-shirt, black leggings, white sneakers, and a blue beret that covered the top of her hand from the sun. In her tanned hands were her weapon, Chaos Spear. She looked down at the ground as she revealed herself, her cheeks reddening. “H-Hello…” She whispered.

“Good afternoon, Ashlee. Nice to meet you.”

Ashlee nodded her head. “Likewise.”

“Okay, now I have a question for you. Why were you peeping at us? Were you sent to deliver a message, here to report on us, or something else?”

Ashlee shook her head. “I… I…” She whispered, not able to spit her words out. “I… I… I…”

Jane rested her hand on Ashlee’s shoulder, attracting her attention. She looked into Ashlee’s eyes, memorized by her ocean-colored eyes. “Take your time, don’t rush what you have to say.” She said.

Ashlee nodded, feeling comfort from Jane’s words. “I… I want you to train me.” She bowed her head, angling herself at a ninety-degree angle. “Please train me on using my weapon.”

Jane took a step back, surprised to hear the girl shout. Virginia, who was some distance away, heard Ashlee’s voice. She furrowed her brows, staring at Ashlee. She could shout? She thought to herself. I thought her voice stayed at a whisper. I didn’t know it could surpass a whisper.

Jane glanced at Virginia before focusing her attention on Ashlee, who was bowing her head. “You want me to train you… why?”

“Because… I want to be stronger. I don’t want to be seen as weak anymore.” She declared, still bowing her head.

“Firstly, raise your head.” Ashlee complied, picking up her gaze. “Second of all, what spot did you get in the practice tournament you had at Blueway University? I’m guessing you didn’t get first place.”

Ashlee nodded. “I was nearly expelled, but my opponent in the loser bracket surrendered. I think he lost his confidence and spirit in the elimination round.”

Virginia looked away. She knew who Ashlee was talking about, biting her lips as she turned in the opposite direction. Conner had committed suicide because of the defeat at her hands. She broke his spirits. The pain his suicide caused still lingered within her and nothing would erase it.

Jane noticed Virginia, nodding her head softly. She looked down at Ashlee’s weapon, a red and white spear known as the Chaos Spear, a fearsome bonded weapon. “Get over here. I’ll make you surpass Virginia in one day.”

Virginia turned to face Jane, tilting her head. “How? She can’t do 5,000 thrusts in one day like me. She’ll collapse before she meets 1,000.”

“5,000?” Ashlee questioned, her head snapping to Jane. Her face was filled with momentary worry. Although worried, she put herself into this position.

“Come on, Virginia. Now you spooked her.” She joked.

Ashlee shook her head, gripping the Chaos Spear with both hands. “I want… I want to be stronger. Teach me how to be stronger. Please don’t take pity on me.” She bowed her head for a few seconds. “I want to return to school as a new person.”

Jane grinned smugly, glancing at Virginia. “It looks like you got competition for my love.”

“Love? What does swinging this spear all day count as love?” Virginia asked, furrowing her brows.

“Tough love.” She responded with a large smile. She motioned for Ashlee to follow her, taking her to her new position, several feet from Virginia. “Get up!” She barked, going into her drill instructor mode. “Both of you, point your spears forward at the trees. Use both hands if you need to.” She ordered. Ashlee handled the spear with both hands, struggling to hold up its weight. Virginia, on the other hand, managed it well using only one hand.

Jane stood in front of them, staring at each of them. “Thrust forward. Neither of you will be leaving until you’ve done 10,000 thrusts. Do you both understand?” She asked. Both of her apprentices nodded. “Good, you got nine hours before midnight, get to work.”

Episode Nine "I Love You"

“Nobody followed you right?” Addison asked. She was dressed in a bright blue shirt that stuck tightly to her body. She had on a beige skirt that stopped at her knees with a white pair of sneakers. She held a pink handbag, turning around to face a person standing behind her.

“I don’t think so,” Michael said, appearing behind her. He had on a skin-tight tee-shirt that illuminated his non-existent muscles. He added black sneakers and a pair of dark blue jeans to his attire. He had Lifebender, his double-bladed sword, sheathed but prepared to be drawn at any time. “I’m pretty sure my family still thinks I’m training. As long as I return soon, they won’t suspect anything.”

Addison nodded. “Good, then let’s hurry up.” She grabbed Michael’s hand, taking him to the cafe she wanted to visit---known as Cafe Aurora, a popular place for teens and young adults to hang out at.

She entered the front door, taking Michael in with her. The people working the front noticed their arrival. “Morning, Ms. Stareye,”

“Morning,” Addison said as she headed towards a table towards the back of the cafe, partly out of sight of the front door. A pillar stood in the way.

“You must’ve been here a lot.” Michael teased. “Even the people working here know you.”

Addison blushed, shaking her head. “It’s because of my family, you know that.”

“Yup, but I like to tease you. It’s fun seeing how red you get.” Michael said, smiling. Addison playfully slapped his hand.

“Stop.” She told him, blushing.

Michael broke into a laugh. “I’m kidding, Addy.” He looked out of a nearby window at the sights of the city outside. People were walking by, headed to several hundred destinations. Some walked, some traveled via carriage, and a lucky few flew overhead. “I can’t wait for the day for us to be able to walk around freely. We won’t have to hide in cafes or parks. I can’t wait to become a knight.”

Addison nodded. “Well, let’s not grow up too quickly. We should be thankful to be young.”

“Yeah, you’re right. I wouldn’t want to be an old geezer like my father.” Michael added. “Well… it’s not like our childhoods have been the best, though.”

Addison nodded in agreement. “We’re the children of nobles, so our lives aren’t the worst. There are children like us who haven’t experienced love or the warmth of a home.”

Michael nodded. “You’re right, our childhoods were not as bad as I first thought. However… is living like a caged bird the same as living on the streets?”

Addison shook her head. “We’re not caged birds!” She exclaimed; the people working the cafe overheard them. She apologized quickly before returning to the topic at hand. “Don’t call ourselves caged birds, we have no idea if there are any of our families’ spies nearby. I caught one last time following me.” She whispered. Michael nodded, glancing at the people working.
