Chapter one

One day in Chicago, history was about to be made. A scientist was doing a lab experiment in which he was going to try to bring a person back to life. He was in the final steps of his experiment when the test subjects eyes opened. The scientists did not notice because he was turned around mixing chemicals. The test subject stood up and walked towards the scientist. The scientist, satisfied with the mixture he had made turned around and saw the terrible monster. He screamed and the horrible beast was the last thing the scientist saw.

Chapter two

Zoe stared at the newspaper she was reading. The headline read: SCIENTIST KILLED IN LAB EXPERIMENT GONE FOUL. Zoe took the newspaper and walked back to her flat. She stopped at the coffee store below her flat and got a cappuccino. She climbed the stairs and unlocked her door. She greeted her cat Yoko, and sat down to read the rest of her newspaper. She had just finished reading the sports section when her eyes stopped scanning and landed on several articles about missing people. Her brother Jacob had gone missing a year ago and every week she had put is picture in the paper with a description of him to see if anybody had seen him. No luck this week either. She decided that life inside her small flat was to lonely for then, so she put on her jacket and left the flat to take another walk.

Chapter three

It was cold outside and Zoe pulled her coat up closer to her face. She walked past the old laboratory the dead scientist was found in. She stopped to look at it and couldn’t help feeling depressed. The old building was covered in graffiti and the windows were smashed in. A wall had been smashed down and the door had burn marks on it. Zoe’s curiosity took over and she decided to look at the building from a “ closer” point of view. She stepped over the neon yellow crime scene tape and stepped into the building.

Chapter four

It was dark inside and there was shards of glass and debris on the floor. Then she saw the body. You couldn’t really call it a body though for it was mauled and missing some appendages. Suddenly there was a crash and the lab experiment stumbled out from a pile of rubble. Zoe took one look at the beast and screamed. She ran out of the lab with the monster on her trail. She ran back to her flat and fumbled with the keys. She heard screams coming from the coffee shop below her and fumbled even more. She finally unlocked her flat and threw the door close behind her. She knew she couldn’t stay here anymore. Full of nervous excitement she opened up her closet and grabbed an old battered suitcase. Then she threw her drawer open and took some jeans and some T-shirts and put them in her bag. She took some money and some books. She threw her phone in the bag and grabbed her keys. Then she wondered how she was going to get out of her apartment. Suddenly she heard pounding on her door and knew she didn’t have time to be picky. Wisely she chose the window and jumped out just as the door fell in.

Chapter five

Zoe was in after shock. She could not believe the ordeal she had been through. She did not know what she was going to do. She finally decided to stop at a motel and stay the night. She awoke to the sounds of her door being broken down. She looked around in astonishment to see her room in shreds. Pillows were all over the floor and there was a big shadow in the doorway. To Zoe’s horror the beast was in her room. This time he looked oddly familiar. It was the strangest thing! Zoe couldn’t put her finger on it! Then the beast started crying. As his tears fell to the ground he transformed looking more human with each tear until he was just a man crying. To her astonishment Zoe found herself saying, “Oh my god, Jacob? Where were you? I-III thought that you were um, dead! I mean I attended your funeral!” The man just turned around and walked out the door. Zoe just stood there, unmoving, until everything went black and then she woke up.
