Distracted Love Poem
My dear,
I'm here,
Ready to make you see
Just what you mean to me.
I love you like mad
Crazy and sad
It might turn out to be bad
But you're the best I've ever had
(It should be 'crazily and sadly' in the other line
But that wouldn't scan or rhyme
I might sort it out later.)
I could never hate yer.
We belong together like the dew and the flower
Like the minute and the hour
Like 'nuclear' and 'power'
(That doesn't sound right for this letter)
Like 'sweet' belongs to 'sour'
(Yes, that is certainly better).
I'd do anything for you
Cling to you and sing for you
Give you a nice friendly wink
Rescue you if you sink
(Like a ship, I mean - I'd salvage you if you were, say, the Titanic
In spite of the iceberg and the people in panic
The cold and the dark and the water and stuff).
It would not be enough
Because you're amazing, baffling and dazing
Like a forest fire that just keeps on blazing
Like central heating and double glazing
(It's getting quite cold in here)
Like caramel sauce and cherries with cream
Like the best ever cocktail in anyone's dream
(Speaking of which, can you wait here while I grab a coffee? Thanks.
OK, now I am back.)
You're the one I lack.
Your kiss is what I miss
I could go on like this
I love you more than my TV
Than chocolate bars and jasmine tea
I love you most truly with my soul and my heart
Only my fav quiz is ready to start
So I'll finish now and watch it, and I hope you'll watch it too
I love you.
