Soldier Of Fortune
The wound too deep, he knew it was mortal. Weeks of hell to end up with a hole the size of a golf ball through his mid section.
What was he thinking? How had he ended up this way? The lure of silver, the lure of adventure. They had promised him enough to spend his life in luxury twice.
Never thought of life being shortened by years. Thought only of money, fame. It was over now, no one would give him a decent burial.
He had lived for love of money, fame. No guts no glory. That was his motto.
Thanks But No Thanks
I wanted to thank them for all they'd done. I wanted to thank them for a job well done. I wanted to thank them with all of my heart. I wanted to thank them from the start.
The words did not come they stuck in my throat. They lodged there like tears which refused to be shed. I stood there gazing just looking in grief. I stood there unable to share what I felt.
I wanted to thank them for all they'd done. I wanted to thank them for a job well done. I stood at their grave sight tonight.
Suck It Up Soldier
The pain was unbearable in the heat of the day. My feet hurt so badly as we went on our way. Left right, left right, left right, into the night. There seemed to be no ending in sight.
The master at arms was a son of a xxxxx he had not a heart not even a stitch. From morning till dawn of the next day we marched, my feet hurt so badly I no longer felt their arch.
"Suck it up soldier" was all he would say, "Suck it up soldier," right into the next day. "Suck it up sodier."
